She has a new endorsement!!! Like she's already pretty in that yellow dress, but this new endoresment is for tmall. She's wearing a crown and reminds me of modern royalty. Since she's not filming, I'm loving her taking on so many endorsements and trying new things.

Not my typicaly genre to watch, and I actually don't like chinese opera much, and their make up freak me out sometimes. But, the makeup in this drama I find actually pretty. This drama shows the hardship and intense vigorous training of chinese opera. This isn't just singing, but training of acrobatics, wearing heavy head sets and costumes, and doing all this flips and turns while still sing and make intense facial expressions. It's also a slowly dying culture, but I'm so glad that this drama is getting positive review and spreading the culture to youngsters. I know there's still plenty of chinese opera in play but very very underappreciated. I'm sure these opera actors aren't even paid as much as the traffic idols we have. So, I hope there's more appreciation and awareness for Chinese opera.

oooh, speaking of the other guy, song ke. So he's also rebirthed with memories and he's the previous husband of fl. I read comments that he's no better. So in their previous life, he actually had a childhood sweetheart that he liked and wanted to marry, his cousin. But, fl's family is more powerful and noble, so he chose fl bc she and her family can help his career. The plus side was that she wasn't ugly so he was satisfied.

Current (rebirth) life, Song ke liked fl, but in order to advance his career (he accidentally stepped on someone's foot and that person screwed his career making him hard to advance to anything) he married a noble girl as her family was the only one that can help him. Since the girl liked him, and only by marrying her would her family be obligated to help him. So he abandoned fl like he abandoned his cousin in prevous life.

So, in both lifetime, he relied on women to benefit him and he didn't hesitate to drop the other significant other that he had romantic relationships with. Also, he did ask fl to be his concubine too. He's also a red flag, but we just don't see it bc it's not obvious. he's not dependable, loyal or reliable. At least, ml didn't rely on any women for his merits. He fought and earned his way up. Although how he obtained fl is not something to be proud of, at least he can be a pillar for her to rely on and he actually fought for her when his family wanted him to marry a noble lady as first wife. He schemed and plotted so that his parents and elders would accept fl as his main wife. Also, he knew the harsh reality of the world, only power and money speak, that includes maids and servants being obedient or currying favour. So with fl coming from very humble background, ml would put on a show or scheme for fl so that she gets respected or at least be afraid of by the servants and maids.

Ml is a tyrant, but I think he's softened up or at least to fl. As the apparent heir to the household, I think he does need to be a bit of a tyrant or else everyone will use him, like his second uncle. Also, easier to protect the people that matters to him. I rmb he was a little tyrant as a boy to protect his mom from his dad's favoured concubine. The more I type the more I'm excited for the drama. I like a scheming, mastermind, tyrant, almost evil ml than a ml that's always about being just or nice, gaullable even.

Luckily she grew up under her maternal grandma. Although she lacked parental love, her double the love, and her cousin also cares for her very much, and only wants her happiness.

So fl's dad is actually concubine born, not legitimate child of the main wife.

I often get this lecherous gaze from ml after he realized he likes fl. It's this hungry look, but he's still a gentleman. When he kissed fl, his hands hover and only waited until she boldy wrapped her hands around his neck to pull him in that he slowly wrap his hands around her.

Also, fl’s mom has been supporting her husband’s household for 15 or so years with her dowry. To last this long and to lend 20k taels just show how immense her dowry was.

That should’ve been a clue he was married haha. I did wonder why he’s refer to as “ye” but I thought it was just out of respect and bc of his high position

So this drama kept the storyline of ml having married prior, so he's a widower. He is 30 ish, would be strange not to have married

I love that fl's maternal family is so wealthy, like modern day billionaire type. Gu family look down on Ji family bc they are merchants, yet they rely on Ji family's money to maintain their expenses. Such hyprocrites. I can't wait for fl and Ji family to take back what they are owed. Gu family needs to learn their lesson. Borrowning 20k yuan (idk how much that is equivalent to today but I just know it's a huge amount) for 20years and not paying back a cent

From novel, he never rejected her. He's the one forcing and chasing her like cat and mouse

From my perspective, I think he couldn't confess his feelings bc then he would out himself to having a crush on her, and that might be a bit embarrass for him or he might be shy on that part. Their relationship was always sibling type with banter, and by confessing it would reveal his siblig relationship was not pure. Idk how to explain it, but for me, how he is reacting to her makes sense for me. I do think he likes her, and once she marries Chen, he will be disappoited but perhaps his love hasn't reached ye xian level

Allen already refuted this rumour. Every year they have this rumour. Don’t get your hopes up. It’s not possible. Their fans hate each other with a passion. They are also on diff acting paths. Allen is still doing idol dramas and ss has turned changed route away from it.

In the novel, LJL aka LJQ was already depicted as a man with stature, money and power, and he just keeps getting promoted to higher official positions, up to 3rd rank. Everyone just sees the glory he has, yet the hardship, the danger and risk, him putting his life on the line multiple times...these are never really emphasize, and he also just brush pass it. I would like the drama to show the dangers he place himself in, so it's not taken for granted how he rose up so quickly.

Also, even his grandpa admitted, LJL is the only outstanding one in his generation, so the whole Lin family will rely on him and can only depend on him now and in the future. It's a heavy burden he has to shoulder, and it's not an option for him. So, with lx, she's provides him a safe heaven, when he comes home from a stressful day of work, seeing her waiting for him or just doing her daily household routine, whether it's her painting, sewing or drinking tea, he feels distressed. I thik that's also when he realized he can't live without her. I hope drama portrays that well

fingers crossed. I heard imght air in August or sometime in Summer. I hope it's true. I'm currently watching A Splendid Match. Not gonna lie, I'm kind of tired of these 4 men having feelings for fl and chasing her and such. What I like is seeing her being rich and retaliating against her stupid selfish father and the paternal side of the relatives.

I'm hoping this drama turns out good. Many are book fan, but seems like there's a drastic change. I'm ok with that, since r**e and domestic violence, and stockholm syndrome will be scruitinized in this drama. To air publicly, and maybe on TV, definitely can't follow closly to the novel.

What I hope the drama kept is the essence. The tyrannical, savvy, black belly ml, and the enduring, quite and relentless fl that never accepts her fate even though on the surface she does. What I like about the fl, even though she's meak on the outside, it's bc she's so zen and very much rational and level headed. She doesn't fight back against ml bc she knows she can't given her circumstances, hence why sometimes she acts seem docile. It's bc going against the ml, she's not going to win and just prolong the unwanted situation. Instead, she finds opportunity to escape the hell she's in.

For once, a drama/novel where fl doesn't vy for ml's attention or love. It's bc she doesn't care about his love so she doesn't bother to clear her name, when framed, or retaliate when she's being bullied. I really like that ml is really clever and clear headed, he's not strayed from other's and he can see behind people's facade.

I also like that this drama will give more pov and scenes of side character aka maids. idc what anyone says, I'm very much looking forward to this drama.
