Normally with these kinds of side-stories, I get really frustrated like I'm being dragged unwillingly away from the main story. But not this time. It was a really good side-story and could easily make a drama in it's own right.... although I'd like to see a better ending for them.
Yes, she has 3 potential love interests... the ML Xie Wei and two others.
The ML (Xie Wei) causes the death of the FL in the first timeline (which the story isn't about.... they give you the first timeline in a sequence of flashback-type scenes to set up the story of the second timeline). Because of this, from the moment the ML is introduced to the story, the FL is afraid of him and what downfall he might cause in her life. So when he expresses any kind of interest in her, she never considers it's because he likes her.
The 2ML (Zhang Zhe) is the person she starts off the story having a huge crush on. He shows no interest in her.
The 3ML (Yan Lin) is her bestie who has an unrequited crush on her. On her end, it's never more than platonic.
In the beginning, as FL pines away for 2ML, the ML is mainly in the background, and when she thinks of ML or interacts with the ML, she is mainly worried about what his motivations are and whether he has any plans to kill her or otherwise cause her demise.
Once FL realizes she has feelings for the ML, she is ready to put behind her crush on the 2ML. But by then, the 2ML realizes he has feelings for her, and they have a scene where she roundly rejects his advances on her and she makes it clear that he should move on from any feelings he might have for her.
Some people who watch this start off shipping for 2ML because he's been in other dramas where he is the sexy awesome love interest. But the majority of people who watch this are shipping ML by the time their romance really kicks in.
There is no actual traditional "love triangle" like the kind you generally see in old-school k-dramas. It's just that the ML has to wait for the FL to get over her infatuation with the 2ML, and get her to see her true feelings.
FL does not ever have mutually accepted romantic feelings for anyone but the ML. But their romance doesn't really get started until roughly episode 30.
I just totally marathoned that in one weekend. Did not skip the epic fight scenes, which for me is a huge testament to how good this is, because I normally hate epic fight scenes. My biggest gripe is 1) FL's lipliner problem and 2) Fairly sanitized kiss scenes. But that's pretty standard for the genre.

yes, exactly. The people who make deals with devils are people who have a lot of greed in their souls, and people who have a lot to lose.
To a normal person, a child would be the ultimate "have a lot to lose" but to a narcissist or a sociopath, a kid is far less important than a giant business empire, or a ton of money and power. So say some mafia kingpin is about to go to jail for life. Or a CEO is about to lose his company. If they are bad people or greedy people, they'd do anything to amass and retain their power.
No need to bring the cancer ward into anything. That just makes the ML less sympathetic to the audience. It's a dumb blunder on the part of the writers and I'm surprised things like that made it into the drama without anyone stopping such colossally bad ideas that have such obvious work arounds.
Chemistry between the leads was decent but not great, ditto for the kiss scenes. Plot was all right I suppose but I fell asleep multiple times trying to finish this one.

why keep coming back? because stacy is entertaining, and because i don't like seeing people bullied for their opinions. That isn't happening on other show's comment pages, except for like maybe three other dramas I've seen 'mean fans' attack other users. But this page has by far the most manipulation going on in it by fake accts.

I'm more inclined to believe that stacy's 15 sock accounts don't bother you because you liked the drama, so your favoiritist toward others who share your same opinion of the show. This is exactly what I'm talking about. This ISNT a fan-page. It's just a public forum to discuss shows. It's inherently neutral. Why would you think fans have more right to be here than people who didn't enjoy the show? The only thing I call out is namecalling and personal attacks. Nowhere I have I called out someone for having a different opinion.

If she and her 15 sock accounts leave, there won't be any more entertainment in this comment section, and I wouldn't have any reason to visit here.

There was something about the ML and the FL that I didn't find attractive. I don't know why. I was far more invested in the 2nd couple's story. And the FL's boss is like 100x hotter than the ML.
This is supposed to be a relationship between a brain surgeon and a lawyer. Both of those professions don't allow a lot of personal life or free time, and to me that's unromantic. When I see the two of them hanging out, cooking dinner etc, the first thing I think of is how exhausted they both must be. In a similar vein, I don't like romances where the FL is constantly wearing business causal. Again, it just looks uncomfortable and exhausting.
The dialogue is mundane and nap-enducing for me, likewise for the storyline.
Kiss scenes are okay, but they are all backlit with very strong light, stomped on by hellish musical choices, and I sensed some chemistry, but not a whole lot. 6/10 from me.
