Except for few most Kdrama romances have been very very crappy in last couple of years.

in fact Kdramas shine when they have zero romance.

The FL is so dumb that her character turns the whole drama into a comedy mid way.
There is dumb and then there is the FL of the drama.

ML is not a supporting character to the story. He is right there at the center of it.
in fact more than the FL, it is the ML who is the emotional core of this story. Here is an young boy who lost his mother and then loses he girl he loved very dearly. It is devastating.
ML does not meet the sister of FL because she reminds him of her a lot. That is explained in 10 seconds in the drama. Very superficial.

My point was that the drama took a central character of the story, i.e the ML and turned him into a supporting one.
They should have added an episode or two and concentrated a bit more on fleshing out the ML and his relationships.

The drama is mixed bag for me at least.
After watching the disaster of another webtoon-drama by Kdrama makers, I thought this would be a similar disaster.
While it does suffer the usual mandatory usual kdrama tropes, the emotional highs are very well done. Both the leads are tremendous actors and they are pretty much negating the butchery done by drama makers.

regarding resolving emotional trauma of ML being resolved poorly, I agree with you to some extent.
I think this has more to do with the drama being just 12 episodes long and focus of the drama is much more on the FL than the ML.

Frankly, the ML is a supporting character to the FL.
The makers of the drama chose to make FL central point of the drama and she has the most screen time.
That leaves ML with less screen time to concentrate on his trauma and bring it to satisfactory conclusion.

This is one of those dramas where the FL is the only main character and everyone else is supporting.

Imagine if FL had a sister and ML gets it on with both them.

Even when ML has not done anything as sick as FL, he is still the bad guy.
Sorry but any person looking at sibling of their lover as a backup is absolute sick person.
Just because she is the FL does not mean she gets a pass.

one does not look at siblings of their partner as potential lovers. Not even in dreams.

ML has character flaws and can be worked on and corrected.
the FL though is straight up a sick pervert.

FL's are always interesting in Cdramas. This one gave the FL character a lot of fun to play with.
ML's are bland and boring.

Almost all historical Cdramas have free spirited FL and extremely shy ML.

pretty much normal for these kinds of Cdramas.

neither do I hold any sympathy for ML.

hands down the best Cdrama I ever watched.

In fact this drama is such an anamoly for a Cdrama.
The team tried something different from usual Cdramas and they hit it out the park.

simply brilliant in every aspect.

The actress is brilliant.
She has great screen presence. I don't even look at the ML when they share screen together.

Point still stands - Drama suffers because the story is not supposed to have a character like they show the FL in the drama.
The webtoon was clear, she remembers her past lives. She does not carry skills from past lives. It's like reading a book. Just because you read a book on kung fu, does not mean you become master at it.
Her memories are like that. It's like reading a book. the plot no where mentions she carries her past life skills.
the obvious inconsistency and plot hole is very huge to overlook at this point.

drama is still very enjoyable though.
probably in top 5 kdramas this year.

the webtoon does not dwell this - thankfully.

The drama has done very well on a lot of adaptations but the FL is not the same.
While reading the webtoon, you never dwell on these because the author brilliantly skirts around it. Except for the central relationship, everything else does not matter.

One of the best storyline in the webtoon was the 'sisters' storyline. With few episodes left, I think they may not explore it.

The tone of the drama suffers because of it changed the FL character, leading to inconsistencies already.

So far, the drama adaptation looks good.

the only minor point is trying to make FL look like Mary Sue.
She can do anything and everything. Does not make any sense and that was not how she was projected in the webtoon.
Just because you knew martial arts in previous life does not mean they translate into next life. Hello, there is something called as body conditioning.

instead of a soft, kind hearted and strong FL, we just got a modern strong FL who can do everything.
They should have toned down that a bit.
Sometimes these drama adaptations seem to forget the most important aspect of original writing.

On other hand, the FL and niece from previous life is a nice addition.

not talking about the stabbing, even though it was fairly clear to viewers that the ML was not the guilty party.

I am talking about how the FL had no qualms about shacking up with the bother of the guy she stabbed.

But, for most part the men around the FL in Cdramas would sell their mothers for FL. This lady stabbed your brother and left him for dead. the guy was more concerned about getting into her pants than anything else...
and for most FL's have no issues shacking up with brothers, cousins, friends, uncles of the ML.
however crappy Cdrama ML is, you never see him stabbing FL and shagging her sister right afterwards. In fact in every Cdrama I have watched, the ML would treat women in FL's life with utmost respect and not as backup.

While all your points about the ML are valid, you are forgetting the central point. No one forced her to be there. She could have walked away at any point in time and carried on with her life.
She stayed there in disguise and with ulterior motives with intent to harm.

Not taking sides here but pointing out that ML, FL and 2ML were all crappy.

FL stabs her boyfriend
and then shacks up with his brother.

Out of ML, FL and 2ML, she is the worst.
If you stab your BF and shack up with his brother...there is really no coming back from that.

I think 2ML lost most.
He lost his fiance, unfairly.
He got betrayed by his father while his mom was dying
He has to shoulder the guilt of death of his fiance's father.

FL never giving him a chance to explain is a red flag and any man in her life should seriously consider if she would leave them in similar way when bad things happen.

Both the men want's to do the right thing in the right way.
the FL though is all 'end justifies means'.

Does not matter what the drama does, the FL has been shown to have destroyed lives for her revenge. She is doing to other people what has been done to her father.

It's interesting how the 3 main characters react to the same adversity.

Younger Male Lead decides to get revenge, stays true to himself and his values.
The older Male Lead actually becomes a better and more determined person, trying to do the right thing.
The Female Lead becomes the devil she is the trying to bring down. Not sure if this is some perverted take Kdrama strong FL.

The two Male leads are the strong ones. They don't let adversity turn them into monsters. They double down on their cherishing the good values. They are also warm and balanced.
Even if there is some twist, the FL looks to have destroyed a lot of lives to achieve her goal. Hardly a case for a strong person.

ep 10 ending was strange.
She just straight up guilt tripped him.

These guys are more gossipy aunts than fire fighters.
Adult men in professional jobs behaving sillier than primary school kids....
