I am slandering both mom and step-mom.
Step mom is not likable, I have repeatedly stated that.
Dandan's dad should get a divorce, no disagreement there. That's not what I am disagreeing on.

My single point of disagreement was who did worse to Dandan.

Imagine her Trauma when Dandan learns her mom abandoned her. nothing her step-mom did would even come close to how Dandan would feel at that point.

Dandan should be absolutely pissed at her step-mom.
he step-mom is a selfish, crude, rude person.

Even knowing all those facts, they all pale to what Dandan real mom abandoning her.

We are comparing two people who have done bad to Dandan.
Her feeling hurt by her Step-mom did is perfectly normal and justified.

That's not what we are discussing,
we are talking about who from Dandan POV has hurt her more.

in fact if her real mom did not abandon her, Dandan would not even have a step-mom in first place.
What ever misery Dandan went through, it is all caused by her mom abandoning her.

Sorry to disagree,
but whatever step-mom did pales in comparison to abandoning Dandan.

May be it's just my strong belief but if some one abandons their new born, they are just very very very bad.
Anna's redemption arc is much much tougher than Step-moms.

Yeah, try justifying to an abandoned child why she was abandoned. In fact knowing that she was abandoned by her mom would crush Dandan more than anything her step-mom did.
Worse Dandan would feel mightily guilty at some of things she said in anger to her step-mom & all of this is at the feet of her real mom not Step-mom. Dandan believes that step-mom was the reason her real mom left. Want to imagine how crushing it would be for her to know the truth?

Let me put it this way,

If Dandan's father abandoned her & his wife immediately after she was born would we still be saying the same thing?
Would we be understanding of his circumstances about leaving his wife and daughter?
Would we be saying, he is a nice guy, let's give him benefit of doubt? That guy who was absent from FL life for 26 years deserves our sympathy and empathy while the mother and daughter were struggling?

Now imagine a guy steps in, took care of her and her daughter. He was selfish, had negative things going on for him but he was there for the mother and daughter - even it was for his own selfish reasons.
Who do you think he is a better person for Dandan? Her dad who abandoned her or the step-dad who is rude, selfish but was there for her when they needed him the most?

Step-mom did numerous selfish things but she also took care of her, wiped her, fed her. She did bad things but she also did good things.
The mom though was just not there.

This does not mean I am justifying what the step-mom did.
We are comparing two people wrt Dandan, that's it and the relative good and bad they have done for her.

Not making excuses.

Have already said how bad the step-mom is.

BUT

From the FL pov, when she learns the truth about how she was abandoned by her mom, she would be devastated.
There are probably few things worse than being unwanted by your own mother.

And let's not light of 'being there'. There are also few things more important than being there for another person.

the Step-mom needs lot of growing up, no doubt.
At this moment, the only thing she has an edge over the real mom is the fact that without her, FL and dad would not have survived.
And no matter how bad she was, nothing she has done is worse than what the real mom did to her own daughter.

Look, the growth for these 2 women will definitely happen.

Absolutely yes they are greedy leeches.

Let's also be honest about the woman who dumped her newborn in hands of her husband to satisfy her own ambition.

both Step mother & mother need a lot of growing up.

Having said that, in spite of the crap the step mother keeps pulling, she was there for the FL when she was growing up. She was not good but she was there.

The real mother just dumped her and carried on with her life for 26 years without even caring how she was doing or even if she was alive or dead.

As of now, as bad as she is, step mother is better just because she was there for the FL.
Let's not forget that the step mother could have easily told the truth about the mother to FL when ever she got angry at her. She does not & in a small way that shows she cares for her husband and may be the daughter.

She is greedy, obnoxious, rude, self-centered and cares more for her son BUT from FL and her father POV, they would not have survived without this woman. With a new born in his hands, there is no chance in hell he would have survived without her.
Does this make step-mother good, Goodness no but the context of what happened is important.
When Dandan knows the truth, who do you she will be angry at? The step-mother who mistreated her at times or the real mother who abandoned her?

this drama has grey characters rather than down right plain evil ones, means there is scope for growth and redemption for each of them.

Girl keeps shifting between the two men - check
She keeps having cute and intimate moments with ML while still with another guy - check

So, what is this called?

Yes, it literally is all about extremely crappy love triangle.

FL and her BF are made for each other.
ML is a gutless wimp simping after a girl who is two timing, not sure if she is two timing her BF or the ML but yeah the ML is a cuckold wimp.

If this is your taste, go for it.

ML age and kids are going to be a huge problem for them to be together.

You can already see the indications when various people are mistaking FL as his daughter or niece,
ML is getting pretty conscious of it.

FL's real mom is going to cause problems as well from the looks of things.

Think we are watching two different dramas, she goes back and forth with her BF until ep 9. Not sure if that break up is final or we will see more crap going ahead.
She cheated, let's not beat around the bush about this.
You can empathize with her situation and feeling humiliated which caused her to act that way.

by Episode 9, she was cheating on both her BF and her new lover, if that makes sense.

Understand shit happens in life but let's not normalize what the FL is doing.

the BF was a scum.

And the FL doing the same act that scum did makes her a douche as well. Two mistakes don't make a right.
Just because partner cheats, the response is not cheating back. There are better ways to handle that than to degrade to the level of a cheating partner. It is about own self respect and judgement & the FL did the worst possible thing in that situation.

She could have broken up with her BF and then done what she liked. Problem is few episodes in, it looks like she is playing the ML after the crap she pulled on him.

the dicey thing she is doing is leading the ML on still being with her BF. This whole situation where comes across as dumpster is her own making.
If a guy had done what she did by dragging a girl to motel, he would not live to see the end of day.

And the whole getting drunk & ending up in a motel with a strange man...Not sure how that is not dangerous. Any number of things could have happened to her if the guy was not nice. If it was real life she could have very well ended up with her sex videos online.
And who the F cries in front a strange man about her love life? Is he a therapist or something? It's not like she is a village bumpkin!!

But hey, this is Cdrama and we all celebrate the drinking culture and ending up in motel room with random people.

guy gets drunk, ends up in a motel with an unknown girl.
To forget it, he gets pissed drunk the next day & this time he ends up in bed with a man
To forget this, he drinks himself silly again & ends up in bed with a donkey.
At this point the donkey is wondering if the guy is drinking because he likes what is happening afterwards.

Understand this is drama but damn that was some repetitive and stupid cliches, some of which would never happen in life - and we are just talking about episode 1

That's not how the first episode played out,

She was the one who comes to the ML, not the other way around.
She uses ML to get back at her BF. Worse, she judges him repeatedly when she herself is crap.

if it was the ML who had used the FL to get back at his GF, we would be singing different tune for sure.

that BF is toxic, the FL is dumpster fire. Ml should just run away from such a woman and find a nice girl.

and Cdrama writers are so predictable, every other drama has FL wailing about her love life in front the ML. Not sure why most dramas start this way....do the Cdrama writers think it's really romantic for the FL to be wailing and crying about another guy in front of ML?
Would a girl respect a man wailing about another woman in front of them?

wow at the FL.

She goes from naive & at time irritating girl to a wonderful woman.
She has the best growth in drama in every sense.
She grows into a wonderful partner, sister & a wonderful friend. She was a delight to watch in the drama. Did not miss a single scene she was in.

ML had no growth. He regresses a little bit in between but there was never much scope for growth for ML. he starts off as someone who is very mature and just stays like that.

Yet another Cdrama where the FL who has been in long relation with a cheater &
the handsome ML conveniently appears before her to help her out of the mess while she is wailing about her BF and her love failure.

Unlike other dramas where the FL is dumb, this one is smart but unlikable, she is as much a cheater as her BF. Remember folks, cheating is not just intercourse.
Cdramas give the FL a long passe over their behavior. No matter how terrible their behavior is, somehow it's excused & everyone else needs to understand and empathize with her.

the ML is a stalker & a cuckold.
Not sure what she sees in a cheater to go after her even after bitch-slapped to gutter repeatedly.

few episodes in, ML needs to back off from his stalker mode and realize that the FL is a dumpster fire and run from her.
People need to remember that once a cheater, always a cheater and the FL is a cheater.
She and her cheater BF are perfect for each other. the BF manipulates the FL & the she in turn treats ML like crap.

I thought this would be a different drama with how well it started.

But

As every other Cdrama the SML turns the FL into a retarded monkey.

Kudos to the ML for sticking with the dumb, stupid & irritating FL. Any other man would have run away into the arms of another girl.

May be the viewers don't like a 'man' in Cdramas.
Most of these Cdramas have effeminate men who barely look like men and have a libido of an Eunuch.
So, when they see a real man, viewers are probably confused and don't know to make of it.

The complains don't stick though. The ML is absolutely handsome.
If this was real life, this guy would be nearing a score of 10 and most Cdrama FL would not get a second glance from this hot guy.

Anyone watched 'rebirth for you'? The FL looks like a 12 year old boy with loads of make up and lipstick. Barely has bosom or bum. Probably that's the standards viewers are aiming for.
but some of us want real men and women in the dramas.

Watched another drama of ML, this guy is out and out handsome.
Not girly handsome but manly handsome.

usually hate harem stories, dropped 'Rebirth for you' because the first 10 episodes were basically fillers to show many men falling in love with the FL.
They add nothing to the story & you are bored seeing the same repetitive crap in every Cdrama.

Should I start this?
Story sounds good but just hesitant because of the Harem tag. Don't want to waste watching 20 episodes with the story going no where because the director needs to fill the episodes of FL and multiple men doing their romantic stuff.

Crying is weak is so cliche & dumb.

People mistake being soft, humble & well mannered as NOt strong.
Nothing could be further from truth.

Being strong is all about making correct decisions.

If being loud, obnoxious, entitled and cold is strong, then they should watch Cdramas.

Got to love the FL.

Once she realized her feelings, no weird games or hesitations or over thinking things.
She knew what she wanted and she was very upfront about it.

That's a strong woman.
