views doesn't really matter because: not all platforms provide number of views (for example: iQiyi, etc). plus, having high online views doesn't mean it reaches wide audiences such as general public and vice versa because BUZZ and word of mouth have more influences. for example, Word of Honor got the lowest online views among dramas that aired at the moment but the buzz is crazy high and this drama becomes a small hit that completely changed the main leads' life. Another example is: in Tencent's presscon few weeks ago they announced The Sword and Brocade is their drama of the year (based on their internal data) even though the online views is less than other Tencent dramas (Douluo Continent did better in term of views) so it means they have their own criterias at judging based on their internal data. There are also many successful dramas with high rating, good reviews, and reached wide audiences like general public even though the number of views is unknown, for example The Bad Kids. However, i shorta agree views is quite important for marketing/flexing purpose lol. But some platforms have been hiding views since years ago cause they don't want people only watch drama based on total views and I agree with this decision.
However, if you wanna stand with "views matters" it's completely fine too, but let's see from objective perspective

no, what really matters is how we enjoy the drama without caring about rating and views. If you wanna talk about views, this drama surpassed 1.38 billion views only after 21 days. other guzhuang dramas that considered "did decent in online views" usually surpass 1 billion views after 7-10 days and in day 20+ they cross 2-3 billion views. however, even though it's just so-so in term of views, this drama is still one of the most popular ones among current on-going dramas (proved by datawin index). there aren't strong on-going dramas recently but ALP still better among the flops and it's a good thing already. This drama may get criticism from left and right but what matters they still have dedicated and loyal followers like us who don't care about those haha
