Both, but mainly it focuses on their time as teenagers and in/out school...this is for about 65-70% of the drama. And then it focuses on their "working" life and adult life at around episode 20...and focuses on this for the remainder of the drama (about 35%).
However, the girl works throughout the entire drama, even as a teenager.
okay so I have some thoughts after finally catching up and I hope y'all don't mind if I share them with you all here:
1. I did not like that he started "dating" some random girl after only one month of their breakup. I am not too sure what he expected nor what we expected. I get that he was looking for a distraction and was being erratic in his decision-making, but that is not an excuse to randomly agree to date some girl - it is unfair to the random girl, to Zhou Wan, and to himself!!! 2. It is crazy to me that he didn't go check her house to see if she was still there...to idk talk???...but I get why maybe he didn't go because either she already packed up and left or he didn't want to chase after her because he was heartbroken, resentful, and felt betrayed. 3. Him forcing her to move into his house, live with him, sleep on the same bed as him, make him food, be his work assistant, etc, etc, etc....its all just so messy and immature. It is so childish. You'd think that after 10 years, one would learn how to be more mature but his actions towards her are sooo questionable. It is concerning because y'all, their relationship is so toxic. It always has been, hasn't it? But his actions as an ADULT are so questionable and sad to see honestly. It is making me uncomfortable that Zhou Wan is going along with this too. I hoped she would set the record straight at this point and not allow their relationship to become toxic again or I guess more toxic....
Of course, I want them to have their happy ending but this whole guilt/control dynamic between the two is toxic and unnecessary. They should just TALK. Just have conversations PLEASE. JUST COMMUNICATE!!! WHY IS THAT SO HARD??!!! I get that it creates drama and this is just a drama but y'all this relationship is not be idealized, okay?
Side note: the 2nd ML is so annoying. It is so weird that he is still stuck up on her, even after 10 years. So lame. Dude, move on and get out.
I think I might just wait for the remaining episodes to drop before continuing on...idk it was good in the beginning but then they decided to run away from home and live this false fairytale - t's just so random...I was not expecting that. I mean don't get me wrong, it was cute and they look happy but like idk it was so abrupt
I really do want to know what made them breakup if LuXixiao knew everything. 😪
Based on trailers: I think it is something to do with Luo He (the guy who bullies her to collect money/rent). I think Xixiao comes to save her and gets badly injured during the fight. I think she will feel like it is all her fault that he is extremely injured and she yet again might have to deal with losing another loved one (after her grandma), and so she probably pushes him away; which leads to him leaving and going abroad.
I feel like it's going to be something along these lines. Maybe she also gets threatened by Luo He and his cronies that they might finish the "job". Maybe his dad threatens her after learning that Xixiao risked his life to save her. Maybe her mom makes her feel even more guilty, by saying it is her fault that Xixiao is injured. Maybe Xixiao's aunt tells her to leave him alone so he can focus on his future. Maybe its the grandpa. Who knows but I feel like it'll be something along these lines.
Also, maybe Zhou Wan feels like it might be better for him without her in his life - that this is the best case scenario for him...that she might be bringing him down...who knows? Or maybe she feels like his family will never approve of their relationship.
It really sucks that she is using the ML to get back at her evil selfish mother. Urgh I wish it was not the case because he is going to feel so betrayed once he finds out that she's been using him. He is going to feel like she legit only cared to be his friend to get close to her mother (which is sadly...true to an extent)...but I know from her POV that she can't tell him about her and his step-mom's relationship because he is going to look at her differently, even though he hates the step-mom's guts. It just sucks because he is eventually going to find out and its going to hurt him (and her) regardless. URGH.
I wish there was a better way to get her revenge against her evil mom but that would make this cdrama an immediate fairytale and drama-free LOL so nvm. I just want to see their future/current interactions (2026) now - like we can already guess how their past ends at this point from the way it is setting up. I am hoping ep 7 and 8 are the last two eps of their past (2016), but I doubt it because there are 29 eps in total ahhh
It's so good - are people just hating? Y'all we need to fix this.
