Will this drama win the best drama in MDL poll this year? These past results have been disappointments and I don't want any overrated shows beat this one.
No one deserves what the lead guy has to suffer in this drama. It will drive anyone crazy especially during the first half of the movie. If she had a boyfriend just leave don't ever look back, it will just make you think she's the only girl in the world. The most annoying thing is that when he was ignoring her for an obvious reason then here she came asking why he was ignoring her, as if she didn't know. I don't care if she is afraid to lose the friendship just be considerate of others feelings. The movie made the female lead bad I swear. I also don't believe he already move on from her during the ending and it might be hard for him to love again.
5 centimeter per second and the apple of my eye AKA movies that done bittersweet ending is nothing like this. In those two movies it was evident that the lead guy already move on from the girl unlike in this movie. I won't call this ending bittersweet but tragic and again no one deserves that.
Personal feelings aside this is a good movie. It has combination of fun and sweet moments. No boring moments, pacing was good. The chemistry between them is great and also the acting. But if their main objective is to put a bittersweet ending and leave a good message, sadly they failed.
This is not a softporn cause it has meaning, it will leave you a profound thought. Some may argue the plot is non existent but that's not the point and won't make this a softporn just for that.
If you think of it deeply, softporn is like fanservice, like director's obligation to make the viewers happy. Having said that I conclude that movies with Kabedon scenes is more of a softporn that this movie.
I really like her choice of roles recently, it's mix of mainstream and art house type films. She became a really great actress and her marketability is perhaps the biggest in japan right now. You can put her anywhere and the film will instantly become marketable even art house movies as she has the talent to back her up.
The biggest plot twist is the ending song FADED lol. Pretty boring movie especially during the beginning it became a bit engaging during the later part but not enough to save the film. Again the plot twist is predictable and villain's resolve is pretty stupid. Acting by fukushi sota is bad too while suzu is atleast good. For those who loves to ship actors there is not much romance between suzu and fukushi sota in this movie. Another miss by miike. Hopefully the next one would be hit.
What makes you say that? It felt chillingly real to me. I think while Jong Soo is presented as this pure, quiet…
I maybe over complicating things and not looking at the obvious but that is just me as a viewer, I've always been like that. I said this because before that final scene we see an image of hae-mi giving jongsu pleasure in his mind and jongsu finally writing his story. I am not conviced jongsu is capable of murder the way I see him in the movie.
Ben is also a big mystery to me. Is he really a serial killer? is the big question. I understand that greenhouses is a metaphor for those woman, greenhouses being dirty, not needed which no one wil look for them even if they disappear just like hae-mi and other girls, but there is also a possibility that he is not killing them but giving them a new life, new purpose by helping them. We have that scene where Hae-mi says she had plastic surgery and I was thinking ben is just helping her to renew herself and disappear from all people who knows her. Ben is born rich so he probably just bored with his life, film always shows him yawning and he said he didn't experienced crying, and he only finds joy playing with people's lives by renewing them. He also looks genuinely surprised when jongsu stab him.
I also love your analysis it makes sense a lot and yeah it's a great movie to dissect. Best movie I've seen this year.
