I wonder if they chose the name Michael Bane as an hommage to Michael Caine (starred in "Get Carter").

What's with the ratings 😌😌
It turns out to be more like a detective series with an emsemble crew (as in SRI&J). Solving murder cases. Personally I'm in agreement with the ratings dropping. ep 3 & 4 were not about psychologicy or healing as I and I guess many more were expecting. It's still good and hopefully gets better.

I'm missing the "psychiatrist" in the show. All they're doing is solving cases. As it currently stands, it's just…

can you explain ending?
ending is left open (we don't know whether they survived). Just because they'll make Part 2 is this is well received. Open ending was a disappointment to me.

Watched bc of Joo Won and he was great as expected. Enough action for sure (this is an understament). The plot is a lil bit of a mad mess though. I so wished for clarity and paid extra attention - even going back many times not to miss the whos and whys. It was a strongish experience, just wish it had been even more gratifying in wrapping things up neatly. Director, it's cheating to end a 2 hour full movie like this. I expect a lot of Behind the Scenes and Making of materials to be released to make up for the ending!

Can you explain this? Are you talking about a specific film reference? The form of rope walking/dancing here is…
There should be Baeksang awards also for cinematography, OSTs, costume design, set design, editing. It is interesting to know this drama is historically accurate but that is just one element in a drama. Seems to be an obsession for some people but kind of rare in sageuks and usually not even expected (nobody usually gets stuck on whether dramas like King's Affection are accurate portrayals of history bc the term "drama" means something.) I'd prefer OSTs with more Korean influences but nobody (but me) feels it odd that a drama like Our Blues uses an Italian hit from the 50s, something totally out of context. But people attend universities to become filmographers and as you may guess, they watch a lot of classic films.

there are some drams that you watch and forget. while there are some that haunts u for the rest of your life .…
Very true. I feel the same. I don't know any similar drama but I'd recommend the KBS drama special "That Kind of Love", it's also raw and beautiful.

I just saw the ML and FL in Secret (Secret Love) and had high expectations for this. I didn't like Hwang Jung…
Totally agree. She is terrible.

A rollercoaster and definitely worth watching. Realistic and unrealistic at the same time (I've seen people who believe they are someone else and they are just this funny and sad). The "no limits to imagination" approach is totally cool. Who needs realism when there is warmth underneath as in this drama. But the acting skills of the ML and FL are so uneven it just keeps bothering me a lot. Female lead is loud and overacting. In one word: terrible. I hated her just as much in She Was Pretty and Mystic Pop-Up Bar. It feels so strange and forced that anyone would fall for such a person (zero sexiness but I know that's just in my eyes). Currently at ep. 10 will def watch till the end although the "met as children" cliche is just as tiring as the FL.

I don't remember when I've rooted for a couple so much (not in RL but the drama). They are just so right and wonderful together. Totally one of best k-drama couples for me. I'm the middle now (ep 22) but I don't really see where the drama can go from now though. I think I should perhaps leave it here. Kim Jae Wook playing 2nd lead not giving a 2nd lead syndrome is pretty much a sign of his great acting skills. He's careful about not drawing in 2nd lead regrets. Yang Se Jong is an amazing "all in physically and mentally" actor, with great skills of immersion and sensibility. Seo Hyun Jin really shines here. However, not totally happy with the writing of this drama (writer is writing about a drama writer). The writer seems to hold grudges that are not very interesting to the watcher and there are some very big oddities in the dialogues (I can well see how PDs might have wanted her to change her script in real life as well). The cooking part of the drama is not very interesting to me either. But really, this has much to recommend it and is loveable (so far).

Warning: this drama is not for sensitive people. Very violent (explicit portrayal of sadistic people & torture).

Basically I'm very interested in SK history but the background for the happenings (what they were protesting) was left quite open (gotta study other sources). Somewhat uneasy combination of rich people problems - marrying for the sake of business - and political protest. I felt the drama was manipulating my emotions too much rather than laying out the history as it was. Perhaps I wasn't forewarned enough that this would be so shocking and violent with all the torture and shootings. There wasn't quite enough depth in the way the characters were written - they were representing qualities but somehow there was a superficial layer in their portrayal. Not due to actors or acting but the writing. The actors did well with what they were given. Maybe if this hadn't given me nightmares I'd give a better rating but now it's 8.

Title Forest
I really wanted to like this drama because of PHJ whose acting I like a lot, and excerpts that I'd watched before. I liked the strong presence of nature and the beautiful forest, which was a big part of the attraction of the drama. The mystery related to the forest was interesting. What I didn't like was the business dealings and plottings, which I found boring. In the beginning the drama was more intriguing, when it seemed that the grave psychological traumas of the leads would be the main plot. There were huge plot gaps regarding the MLs ability to juggle two careers simultaneously. Also some uneasiness in terms of dialogue. What ruined this for me was how the main couple were constantly bickering and breaking up, so at some point I just lost faith and interest in them. Even thought that with such poor communication skills they weren't meant to be. Then I just mostly skipped to the end. Honest rating from me, 7.5, although I really wanted to like this more.
