Such beautiful warmhearted drama. Nothing but quality, am so glad it was made and that it was so popular. The last 3 episodes ended the drama on an even higher note for me. Lee Byung Hun is such an outstanding actor, and the mother actress really pulled her role in an amazing way. 9.5
Love the writer, dislike the fl choice. SHK will never be a good actress. There's a reason why she's nr 1 in the voting list of actresses who can't act.
I think it is because she can't act. She just stands there, with the same face for all the emotions she is supposed…
Agree. She was a doctor in DOTS (serious) but she lacks substance and will never acquire depth in her acting no matter what the role. Unhappy about this choice since the writer is best
I've watched some 30+ drama specials and this is one of the least interesting. I didn't get it, the dialogue was very odd, nothing made this interesting. FL had barely any lines to say. Near-mute female leads are not my favorite thing. ML was adorable, the best thing here. 5.
I watch a lot of KBS Drama Specials, this was not amongst the best. Wouldn't recommend. (4) It was really not as grabbing as many other drama specials. I would recommend That Kind of Love, for an awesome love story. Wedding Planner was about reaching closure in a relationship, but nothing here is memorable.
The drama gets better after some 6 episodes. We begin to see that's its basically an ensemble drama and not just leads with a supporting cast. The plot gets more streamlined and there's less of the cringeworthy humour. There are some interesting twists and turns. Bae Jong Ok as Joy's mother adds weight to the cast and the approach, she's such a great actress. The ending is very satisfactory and we see this as much about Joy and her insistence on independence as the (mildish) romance plot. What I particularly enjoyed was how this was filmed mostly outdoors, it gave a welcome airiness (after-Covid) to the whole thing. Also liked the way the ensemble was ordinary folks respectfully portrayed, the palace people incl. king having smaller roles and not so respectfully treated. But I skipped a lot, this is for binge-watching.
JCW is a great actor who has the unfortunate gift of choosing very bad scripts. Melting Me Softly, K2, Lovestruck…
He was great in Empress Ki although the character he played was frustratingly idiotic, most of the time. But already in that drama, he already showed how he could switch the nature and feel of the character in an instant. That was simply awesome to watch. Although Empress Ki as a whole is a bit dated, its worthwhile to ponder on his acting there.

Wholeheartedly agree. His acting skills are superb and TSOM and Healer are forever masterpieces. I hope he doesn't waste his talents in lesser productions anymore. TSOM is so beautiful and unique. Suspicious Partner, I didn't like it much either, mainly because of the FL.

JCW is a great actor who has the unfortunate gift of choosing very bad scripts. Melting Me Softly, K2, Lovestruck in the City, are just not worth watching. Haven't seen Backstreet Rookie and won't bother with it.
I wanted to watch this bc I love both Taecyeon and Hye Joon. But it's somehow very difficult to get going with this drama.- There's a lot of overacting, the pace is off, it feels rushed. Director doesn't seem to hold the reigns tightly enough. I'll see how far I make it, but as for the first episodes, there's too much a feeling that I'm watching a "bush comedy" - something delivered by amateurs. But as said, if I change my mind and it gets better I'll come and correct my opinion.
I'm trying really hard to get through this but this is the second drama that I find that I cannot complete an…
I agree, the directing is off. The pace is rushed, bad or cringey scenes should have been refilmed. It seems a mess - I just started (but it's a 3rd try)
