How to see him as a cheater, he is my middle aged Gwan Sik. Oh my god, what a transition within few months.
Watch āthe world of the marriedā - it almost feels like an inside joke since his character had a similar background in it as well (only far more disgusting).
Gotta hand it to the actor though - he managed to play Nationās no. 1 husband and Nationās most complicated husband within the same year. He also holds one of the titles for being one of the Nationās shittiest husbands from a few years back as well š
Question-If he had a child with a mistress, why did he change his will few weeks before his death, and give everything…
He trusts Munju would do the right thing. Sheās not vindictive so his sonās future is safe with her. We also donāt really know what kind of exit strategy he was planning given his desperation to meet the president.
I loved Akina-shachouās short stint in the drama. I mean, I love all characters in a drama for the first time…
Oooh this is really interesting! I didn't know that ranking was no longer allowed IRL- this makes a lot of sense!
How did you even come up with the "hirugao" easter egg?!š I haven't watched it but after reading abit about it, I can see it. If it was intentional, that's pretty awesome.
What I find interesting about Akina's character is how when they first introduced her, she had this "queen" energy. Like you can actually taste her presense. But as the drama kept dwelling deeper into her character, you get to see her darkness and scars. The internal struggle like you so aptly pointed out.
It's so in theme seeing as pretty much all of the characters we've met were all very grey characters (perhaps with the exception of the assistant teacher and Taiga's best friend/ coworker). In Akina's case, "even the mighty can fall" comes to mind.
She lost me when she dumped the red wine over Raul's head. . Inexcusable. Not to mention calling Raul stupid.…
The wine glass was definitely uncalled for- specially since it was painfully obvious that Kauru wasnāt familiar in THAT particular are of Princess service. Sheās basically a delusional woman who couldnāt handle her midlife crisis well. Stealing from her company after bankrupting herself and yet she has the audacity to act all high and mighty?š¤¦āāļø
Can somebody seriously lose themself over a host to such a level? Genuinely curiousš¤
Subber is on vacation based on their website. Can't wait till Makoto finds out about him š
Reader beware - I didnāt realize my reply was soooo long!
TPOB is honestly the best drama I watched this year - Iām a sucker for enemies to lovers / contract marriage thropes so this really hit the spot. It even restarted my interest in Costume Dramas (TTEOTM trauma was high apparently š). ADWAD is on my watch list but Iām waiting till Iām over Wei Shao before moving on to this roleš
āWarm on a Cold Nightā sounds interesting so I will give it a try- thanks for the recommendation! I was planning to watch āShadow Loveā next month since it felt too soon to jump from one Cheng Li General drama to another back to backš. How cringe is it dare I ask?š
LOTFG - I didnāt mind ZYās performance I guess. She was a bit too cutesy at times for someone undercover but once you remember that ZYās character was oppressed all her life, so her forgetting all her boundaries once she found her safe space made sense- specially with the ML who could read her like a book. The first few episodes might feel slow/ awkward but it gets better after episode 4 or so if you want to try it. Whatās RC? I tried to find it but couldnāt for the life of meš
I watched āXian Yuā- totally forgot to mention this! It really was a fun relatable drama (despite being a fantasy) right? I love how they managed to bypass C-time travel censorship in a rather obvious way-wonder how they managed itš¤
Have you watched āThe Wanted Detectiveā? Itās pretty interesting too - romance is pretty subtle though since the leads are already together at the start of the drama but are apart due to a misunderstanding.
āTwelve Lettersā is really good - i didnāt even realize that the ML was Rang Rang until I checked out the MDL page after a few episodes. TL covers heavy topics though so I recommend having a light hearted drama on standby if you usually get affected by dramasš. The ending is worth it though! Have you watched Keanue Reeveās āLake Houseā? Itās an old American movie from the 2000s? Based on a Korean movie (canāt recall the name now)? Itās kind of similar to Twelve Letters since the story goes between the past and present.
āLove, Take Twoā is on my watchlist - thanks for the reminder! I think they wrapped it recently right?
āTempestā is awesome if you are into action! Their chemistry is seriously on š„ - like the FL is supposed to be a grieving widow (who truly liked her late husband) but itās hard to remember this when the ML and FL share the screenšš
BLs wise I agree with you on how some countries (*cough* cough* Thai land *cough* cough*) can really go overboard with the fan service. Then again ever since I joined X, Iāve come to realize that K-straight ships can be even more toxic at times . Just today I saw 2 ship wars - KTL shippers are apparently mad at Bon Appetitās MC coupling - and LR shippers had said something snide about BWSās new drama pre-promotion with IU.
I used to watch Thai BLs but Iāve lost interest for the most part now. They are too focused on ships and recycled thropes/ PP/ lame jokes. Thereās a new one called āKhemjiraā thatās kind of interesting since it covers sharmanism/ kharmic reincarnations.
Think the last time i truly enjoyed one was with āI can feel you linger in the airā (involves time travel to the 1920s with zero product placements and a more realistic approach to gay/ womenās rights back then).š¤ J-BLs are more comforting since they are more slice of life? A tad unrealistic at times but quite relaxing for the most part? āAmaegari noā¦ā was indeed quite fun to watch - very anime styled but not too over the top. Life was their worst enemy. āMy Love Mixupā was indeed another lovely gem. Thatās how I discovered Ren Meguro and āSilentāš
Another interesting J-BL movie i watched recently was āMonsterā (more like a coming of age LGBTQ movie). It explores domino effects and how different POVs can impact a person. The only thing is the movie has an open ending so the audience gets to pick if they want to have a happy ending or a bitter sweet endingš
āUsotoki Rhetoricā is a fun watch - almost nostalgic since the drama style reminded me of Enid Blytonās or Agatha Christieās books for some reason. It has the same vibe as Famous Five and other similar serieses? ā Ebi Datte Tai ga Tsuritaiā - is this a slice of life romcom drama?
The romance is subtle but it's there in an emotional sense. Their eyes speak volumes šThe drama is light hearted,…
I admit using "romance" is a bit of a stretch since the story ends with both finally acknowledging their feelings (with themselves) but do not voice it out loud/ officially confess. But I've noticed this with certain slice of life Jdramas so it's probably a thing in Japan.
The concept also reminds me of more classic english dramas/ movies aimed at young audiences in particular where you don't get a complete romance but there's a general vibe where you know the two characters will get together?
I agree that it would be fun to get a new season to see them explore this further since the drama pretty much already confirmed that the mum definitely would give her blessing, Kanoko knows that she likes Iwai more than just a senior, and Iwai cherishes her too (and not to mention the entire neighborhood supports them too).
The FL is a catholic school high school teacher - this is where the taboo lies. The teacher-student dynamic here is very informal since she (35 yr old) helps him (23 yr old) learn to read and write as a favour since he has a learning disability and believes heās an āidiotā for not being able to.
Totally agree with you- the grey dynamic makes the drama more refreshing.
Gotta hand it to the actor though - he managed to play Nationās no. 1 husband and Nationās most complicated husband within the same year. He also holds one of the titles for being one of the Nationās shittiest husbands from a few years back as well š
Itās romance grown through adversity and their situation so itās not a complete surprise I guess? Hopefully it doesnāt give us K-traumaš¤
Was planning to watch it previously but now I'm torn- part of me wants to try it just to see why all the viewers sound traumatizedš¤Ŗ
Is it seriously that bad? Was planning to watch it since PHS is in it and the plot summary low key reminded me of Judge from Hell.

Hope there's a twist here. Specially since Manami's friend still sees Kauru as a liabilityš¤
Since the fiancƩ probably will be getting a redemption arc, I don't think they'll villainize hosts either.
