in the first episodes FL was confident, fearless, couragees, present but as the episodes progress she becomes worse,…
I'd rather say it's the opposite.
At the beginning she was overconfident and naive- with a blanket "black and white" approach to cases. As she continued to work there, she began to see the darkness...that not everything is what it seems and the law can be cruel at times so she needs to find ways to adopt to it while finding a balance between her morals and the client's interests.
For instance, with the sadistic CEO, she shouldn't have tried to play detective the moment she realized who he was. One of the reasons why she froze when he touched her inappropriately was because she didn't want to jeapodize her client's case. If she punched/ pushed him away, that would give him the freedom to inform everybody that she tampered with the case. Touching was extremely wrong but she wasn't in real danger at the time since she was in public. It's awful, but that was the least offensive option available for her career/ victim's case at the time.🫠
even tho I'm enjoying the story, there's a few bits I'm not liking so far esp after ep 4.-the romance is unnecessary,…
I feel like the tyrant part is mostly the way how history has portrayed him. Afterall history is written by the winners (and he apparently lost eventually).
That's the understatement of the year. I think Raul been so proud of his amazing dancing/singing and modeling.…
Haha exactly! I was surprised to hear (or read) how annoyed you felt about him when you aren't usually this vocally against actors in the comments section 🙈
TBH i have a strange connection with Honey Lemon Soda- for years I've been meaning to try it but I keep forgetting 🤣 And now I've low key outgrown that genre🙈
But he's a very old and wise 23 and she has lived at home and plays w plushies for 35 years. Emotionally they're…
The plot is interesting since the characters aren't one dimensional.
An ambitious host with a learning disability and a girls catholic school teacher yearning to change her life cross paths with eachother in conservative Japan. What could possibly go wrong right?
We get to see many layers from the side characters too. It's not a fluffy love story. There's angst, personal reflection, as well as tender moments. As a side story we also see the dark side of the Host world- how obsession over host life can be dangerous.
As of ep 7, it's hard to guess how it will end but I'm hoping for the best.🤞
Oh one more thing- while the premise might suggest that it'll be a typical🔥🔥🔥 toxic MC romance jdrama like with Coffee and Vanila (and other similar dramas), this is actually surprisingly more "pure" (not the best phrasing but I can't think of a better phrasing).
wow, i just started this show and I was really liking it but THEN the end of epi one happened and it shocked me.…
The ML's entire life is a "show" - Kauru the Host vs. Taiga the hard working 23-24 year old from a broken family who doesn't have the luxury to do as he wishes but still tries his best. Quite self sacrificing.
The drama is certainly interesting since none of the characters can be labelled as good or bad (not even the FL). Perhaps try 1 or 2 more episodes to see if it's your type?
Looks like your guess from a few episodes came true! Totally agree with you though on how surprisingly the “drag”…
Thanks! If there’s only half a chapter left we might get more angst before the classic “run to get your man” bit. Does the manga’s main story arc end with the confession? Kind of similar to Old Fashioned Cup Cake’s ending?
When I started this, I thought it was gonna be all cutesy and fluffy… but now tell me why I’m getting hit…
Suzume’s fluffy onesie and bow tricked us🙈 Can’t believe I expected it to be a bit childish at first🙈 The angst is interesting though…weirdly relatable somehow from Suzume’s POV.
So as suspected they are drawing out the break up over multiple episodes. So more angst in episode 11 with the…
Looks like your guess from a few episodes came true! Totally agree with you though on how surprisingly the “drag” doesn’t feel tedious. Eventhough ep 10 might feel like a filler episode it still is an important episode that could help Suzume and Keishi out in the long run.
The preview sounds daunting though. As the source expert, does the other subordinate actually mean to cause trouble? Or is the scene from the preview a red herring?🙊
Ep 10 is the most episode though. It's a philosophical discussion on the loneliness epidemic in Japan.
It really was an interesting episode. You have 2 men approaching their 40s living vastly different lives and yet they are still able to enjoy each other’s company. I like how Suzume feels so relatable and his fears are quite realistic for someone at his stage of life. It looks like episode 11 will be another emotional rollercoaster but I hope we will get to see their light hearted days soon🤞
I hope Suzume doesn't take him back so easily. Keishi should suffer at least for one more episode so he will learn…
Honestly they both messed up. Keishi shouldn’t have said that last bit about Suzume not being his type but Suzume shouldn’t have freezed either (understandable why he froze but it wasn’t the best move).
They’ve both suffered long enough - really hope they make up next week 🤞
Yeah...the ending was hot garbage.I've always hated open endingsBut more importantly....WHO TF DID HE END UP RAISING…
About Hash- he'll probably find a capable room mate or hire a full time helper. He has time anyway since the Ex isn't moving immediately🙈
I mean the ex's request was that Hash cannot be left alone which is fair enough given his long hours. The whole point of his blind dating arc was to realize that you can't just blindly get into a relationship just to have kids or in his case, a permanent co-doggo parent
IDK why he couldn't realize it sooner honestly seeing as even the ex mentioned "room mate" at least once😅
They gave a realistic ending for the MC by leaving their romantic future open.
Some were expecting a more romantic ending given how there were so many hints that they were perfect for eachother/ MDL tag indicated it was a "romance" drama.
They also ended the final scene with the ML saying the line "To me, love is"- cutting him mid sentence to the usual end screen "esquire" and a photo montage of the team and MC's moments together. So some felt it was incomplete.
Personally I liked the ending. It was still romantic / poeticeven if it wasn't in the usual k-drama "and they lived happily ever after 💋" format. The drama is a love letter but it covers all kinds of love. For the MC, the drama ends with them both finally at a place where they are able to move from their baggage. Will they date? Only time will tell but what we do know for sure is that they have something beautiful together even now as eachother's confidantes.
Honestly not sure why MDL is showing the “romance” tag. It’s not available on Netflix. While love is a topic…
Ah I see. Wish if they didn't make it one of the main genres though. I've been burned by similar dramas before so the drama exceeded my expectations but I can see why some are annoyed😅
Odd choice honestly seeing as similar dramas that keep romance as a side story don't normally use romance as one of the main tags. By contrast, I find the MDL sub-tag used by "Celebrity" more suitable here (i.e. "slight romance")🫠
Love your take on this and the way you brought it back to “Esquire”
Haha yes! All these weeks I just assumed they ended each episode with "esquire" because it was a legal drama/ to connect with ep 1. Your epiphany was the missing piece that made the picture perfect.
I don't know the ending...felt ........ incomplete....I think they are gearing up for a season 2,...??? also the…
NGL wish if there were more episodes so they could have covered the last episode in more detail.
Yun did move on from the ex-wife. She even told him he can have Hash as long as he has a room mate or wife without him throwing a tantrum over her demands (TBF her wish is fair enough since Yun cannot leave Hash unattended while he spends long nights at the office all the time).
He just needs time to understand what he truly wants. Who knows? May be seeing how Jin Woo and MJ are able to handle their age gap, he might eventually change his tune? The MC is so in tune with each other already afterall and KHM doesn’t look like she’s disappointed either - she’s ready to play the long game. And we know that Yun isn’t going to get into a relationship just because he wants kids/a new co-doggy parent.

Still might have a peak 🤭

The ending is fine on it's own but adding "romance" gives expectations to viewers unfortunately.

Really poetic of the writer!
