Exactly!!! I like that he empowers her to deal with things on her with his assistance behind the scene so that she gains confidence to battle more baddies on her journey.

I was wondering why he asked JL to lower her head when he was dressing his wound and was topless. I feel like it's his attempt to keep her image and reputation as a lady intact. Not that she was doing a very good job at not looking. =P

I agree. That's why I feel they are made for each other because they understand the gnawing need to snub injustice and rid the world of cancerous officers. When he let her dealt Feng's the punishing stabs instead of doing it for her or stopping her from appeasing her anger, I was happy he allowed her the outlet.

@Erin, @Raymond Ardin, @Evonne - I rewatched the beginning of ep 18 and confirmed my take. She only said she wasn't JL, but she didn't admit WHO she truly was. He even tried to get her last name and she shot this question down.

Although he pretty much was certain she was XFF from process of elimination and his intelligence, he never got a verbal directly from her. In Ep 20, her identity as XFF was confirmed by her personally in the cave.

Duke Su understands JL's strong need for revenge and justice. I admire him not just for helping and protecting her, but ALLOWING her to accomplish her goal. Even when she pledges her life to him by the river after they escaped from Feng's masked assassins, he told her he'll claim it after she takes care of her personal business. Just so supportive and a true partner. He was happy to know she trusted him because he smiled. =) She was also delighted to know he was giving her time and space.

I must be sleepy when she said this to him because I don't remember this scene. Which ep?

I love all Duke Su's smiles. They are so rare so it's a gem when he bestows them upon us poor admirers. =)

Ep 20, Any doubt Duke Su had about JL's real identity as XFF previously was cleared as he had overheard her admitted to her father's subordinates she was indeed Xue Li/XFF. He just needed JL to personally tell him so as the final level of trust.

Duke Su's hint of a smile when he observed the situation they were in where JL jumped onto him with legs tightly crossed around his midsection. 😁 It's so cute!!

You're right. All those finger and fine muscle exercises from guqin do attribute to arm strength indirectly. =)
