I absolutely agree. "Jin Mu's" power stems from his relationship to his grandson. He would have had no…
His character description provides a hint: "The shifting tides of the era unsettle him, as he knows the rigid social hierarchy that long protected noble families is beginning to crumble." https://mydramalist.com/character/yun-seong-won
Most of the criticism I’m seeing is literally from short clips and comparisons. People are calling him ‘expressionless’…
Yep. I totally agree. And not just restrained & emotionally controlled, but also emotionally stunted from a lack of affection his whole life (mother died while he was young, plus his neglectful & toxic paternal relationship). This character has layers and the actor is playing them perfectly, IMO.
I don’t know why, but these days I’ve got this feeling…JJy might not be the real villain 👀It feels like…
Exactly. This actor doesn't always look like this in every role. He was deliberately cast & styled (goatee) to resemble his recognizably most famous role as the villain Jin Mu from Alchemy of Souls.
Episode 3 hasn’t even aired and the rating on that episode is 4/10 from 8 users, WHY IS MDL ALLOWING PEOPLE…
You aren't the first person to question the logic of allowing episodes & series to be rated & reviewed in advance. The truth is, the MDL ratings are a joke and in some cases may be heavily manipulated.
This is pure speculation, but to the best of my understanding—some folks had a brilliant & timely idea to launch MDL. They were especially shrewd to set it up the way they did—with watchlists and boards dedicated to each show. This has created an entity which I am positive is far more popular (& profitable) than any of the other entertainment news & fan-facing websites.
I suspect the owners are barely involved. I imagine they mostly just check their bank balances of $$$ they earn from ads & digital flower-sales from the comfort of their poolside lounge chairs, and leave the site to more-or-less run itself.
They shrewdly set up a hierarchical system of paid & unpaid moderators to monitor the boards, etc. A few dedicated writers make a living posting PR articles to the main page. But the comment boards & ratings are mostly left alone, sans interference. And I seriously doubt they even care that I'm posting this.
Of course there will be a happy ending. This should not be even up for debate. This is a Disney series about a girl marrying her Prince Charming.
The real questions should be, how is Perfect Crown adapting & subverting the tropes which the studio was built upon? And how successfully will they pull this off? But come the end of ep 12 our main leads will be living happily ever after, no doubt!
Also, My Mister should be everyone's first IU drama! Go watch that first, then come back to see her find happiness. You can thank me later.
After marrying Yun I Rang, the king never smiled again. He felt tired, miserable, & was fearful of assassination so he decided to relinquish his crown to the grand prince. His queen refused to allow him an easy escape from his gilded cage and lit the palace on fire while burning the king's stamped abdication decree. She walked away from the fire. He did not.
Assuming he wasn't murdered by someone else, he must have considered a painful death & abandoning his son to be a small price to pay for never having to see or listen to that bitch again! The king died in the fire just to spite his wife and to escape her & his miserable life.
The queen dowager proceeded to make her son as miserable as she had her husband. The kid grieved the loss of his father. This only made her more angry & upset.
Maybe the crown prince wants to be king in order to rescue his nephew from the queen dowager & the toxic gilded cage? The perfect crown is the one your loved ones don't have to wear!
From prison? Where she will be held & tortured for kidnapping the king? Also, either the queen dowager's father…
I'll wait to watch the episode, thanks. (BTW, I find it frustrating trying to avoid the previews while waiting for the epilogues. I'd prefer that the order was reversed!)
I really wonder about the former king's character. I wonder what he did to make queen mother hate him that much.…
We know that last part is true from her backstory which the production released prior to the drama. (Hint: click on character names under the Cast tab to view their character descriptions.) https://mydramalist.com/character/yun-i-rang
queen dowager seems to have the audience divided.1. she's good2. she's bad3. she is only protecting her son4.…
In my opinion, each of the main characters are frustrated & feel suffocated by constraints imposed by the constitutional monarchy. Something's gotta give, and I think it's going to take all of them to change the system.
The queen dowager comes off as a bitch but is a sympathetic character once you get to know her. She is hard-up sexually-frustrated with no outlet and also unhappily resigned to the role she was born & raised to occupy. She treats her kid (the king) like crap because he reminds her of his dad who she despised for not embodying any of the regal qualities which she was trained to associate with the crown. (That the grand prince does possess those qualities only exacerbates her angst and frustration!) And she harbors guilt over the king's death in a palace fire which she herself started.

I'd suggest the breakdown is closer to 40% credulous fandom / 40% rash criticism / 20% insightful discussions, give or take.
