I think I've cracked the code. KSR's first ex-boyfriend is bad. And her second ex-boyfriend is crazy. In that K-Drama 'Bad and Crazy', Crazy is K and Bad & Crazy turn out to be the same guy. So KSH & K must be the same guy!

Netflix "has come under fire for its poor subtitle quality" for numerous Korean dramas, and has created geo-political…
Not much to tell. There was a scene with an elderly man who needed help recalling an idiom which was on the tip of his tongue. Woo remembered it for him ISTR this is from the first of the two-parter about a village, the development of a new road, and a hackberry tree.

People only believe what they want to believe.
Same as it ever was.

To all memebers, please think twice and avoid seeing things in black & white. That´s fine to share opinion, but…
Peace.

And before anyone replies with "on the internet nobody knows you're a dog," just know that dogs actually do see in color. That they only see in B&W is a common misconception.

Yeah. I really appreciated learning "smashing a rock with an egg" from Extraordinary Attorney Woo.

I'll never understand why people waste their time making comments like this but, alas, we are not meant to understand…
People have been saying this since the year after stories were invented.

Yes, it's weird people don't see this.
Totally! How is this not most people's first reaction?

Netflix has lots of viewers in lots of locations, but they also make lots of money. They make huge profits. They really ought to want to get this right.

My suggestion would be to hire many language experts and pair multiple native-Korean language experts with other experts for each of the languages to be translated. These pairings would collaborate to balance literal meanings with creative liberties capturing otherwise indefatigable-yet-essential elements.

I've noticed other drama subs using American idioms which are obviously not what was said but still seem to match the narrative. I'll admit that not every idiom, expression, or reference has a counterpart, but I still believe "two heads are better than one!"

On The Potato Lab Mar 24, 2025
Title The Potato Lab Spoiler
Ep 7 is silly fun and the slow-burn build-up to romance is delicious. I think that was the most romantic handshake I've ever seen. And his intimately-private personal anecdote beforehand made it especially poignant. (No touch! It reminded me of Mr. Queen. 😝)

But their potato war was absolutely ridiculous. She should have won that argument, even before doing all that additional research. Her response to his criticism of the scab disease was perfect (adding sulphur and regulating moisture), while his counter to the phytophthora blight was flawed. Who else was frustrated that she did not catch his error right away? (Please post your 🙋🏻in the replys, and we can form a support group.)

I'll explain for the students sitting in the back rows: Adding spaces between the plants will reduce the overall harvest (Kg/Km^2), negating the reason to move to a higher-production species in the first place. Duh! (The writing in dramas these days can be so frustrating, sometimes. Don't you agree?)

She should have pointed that out, and mentioned that the increased expense for sulphur and labor time to water Maroo in would be far less than the reduced output & income resulting from leaner fields of Marshall! ()

I'm just hoping they make up and agree to grow both for or an ongoing basis. Introducing redundancy is not a bad thing. Even a trial period would be a welcome compromise. If either disease crops up, production will be reduced, but not ruined. And growers will be able to express a choice. Potato researches would still be in need. And win-wins are the definitive happy endings for romcoms.

You know a man with a small key, can only look for someone with a small case. Just like a short man would need…
An adult woman is more likely to see through bullshit and recognize arrested development—and point it out. I imagine as KSR grew up she occasionally said things to KSH from a woman's perspective which rang alarm bells in his head. Him losing interest & cutting her off probably had as much to do with this as did her physical maturation.

is scandal over? He came back to Korea?
The scandal is not over. He may have left Korea. An individual claiming to be a close acquaintance to Kim Soo Hyun released a public statement indicating that KSH has been staying with family, but there was no mention regarding in which country they might reside. (That said, I no longer consider the rumors of him departing the country to be compelling, except for satirical purposes. 😜)

"Kim Soo Hyun is currently staying with his family. I’m not sure if he is staying with his cousin or his father, but he is relying on his family to help provide stability and comfort. The official statements that are being released by Gold Medalist are being shared after cross-checking with Kim Soo Hyun himself."

He’s going to get away with it isn’t it?Do koreans side with him just like the media?
He has already lost so much. Normally I would share your cynicism, but this time I think it will get much worse for him after the forensics analysis is released.

It's far preferable that GM is attacking Garosero instead of KSR's family!

Of course, the rich guy uses his influence and wealth to escape punishment for his evil deeds.
I only barely follow GRRM, but I read that his writing hiatus was triggered because he was pissed at the guys who made the HBO series (Dan & Dave, as you mentioned). The author found out that they played him from the beginning. Apparently they hadn't even read the books back then but just compiled a bunch of ideas from the internet (eg comments, fanfiction, etc.) and then posed as genuine fans of his work. This explains why the last season was so terrible. They had no actual talent to move the story forward in his absence. And apparently that's what GRRM wanted to expose.

Does this ring true to you?

Yes, this what KSH parents should have done. Instead of harboring him, they should at least come out and apologize…
KSH is not literally a fugitive, but I still agree with you. Where is the statement from KSH's family? No doubt they are "just following advice from GM's attorneys", but it still makes them come off as sus
