Were she still alive, she might be the only other person able to understand what it's like to live every moment feeling his insanely intense levels of desperation and fear!

And we are not even certain he is a heterosexual hebephile. I'm can't help but worry about the little boys and animals in his productions, too!

My 2025 pick is the IRL drama about the exposure and fall of Kim Soo Hyun! (Which is why I am way behind in my Currently Watching & Plan to Watch lists!)

I like to have fun with it. He deserves to be mocked. His public lying gives us that right.

But which is it that Kim Soo Hyun is most embarrassed about?

1) Him getting caught in the lies that he never dated Kim Sae Ron or visited her apartment, or

2) The thought of everyone in the world self-pleasuring to a nudie pic of him roleplaying as her domestic servant, in her apartment?

I'm sure the answer is both. But which one is MORE?

I want to be at least a little bit careful until we know more. KSH is both a person and a brand product. He does lots of stuff on his own and he does lots of stuff with his team. And people do stuff in his name. Somebody else could have done that trade with or without his knowledge. As a major owner of GM he still has to take responsibility. But that doesn't mean he would be personally prosecuted for this, if it's true (and assuming anyone at all does.)

And besides, there are plenty of other reasons to call out and mock Kim Soo Hyun!

Anytime studio executives are also evil villains, you can expect them to be smart. And smart evil villains always put layers of fall guys in place to take the heat, in their place.

And yes, I envy those who have taken the time and made the effort to learn Korean so they might better appreciate K-Dramas (and for other reasons.) As these subtitle issues keep cropping up, I am increasingly motivated to follow their lead, as you suggest.

Quite so. I saw something similar in a comment earlier on this page.

I have in the past—while following a drama I especially enjoy—watched episodes multiple times, first with subtitles, than again via CC captions, and finally (if available) with English dubbing.

This last option is nice because I can to listen while doing chores. It helps me pass the time and also remember details while I am waiting for the next episode to drop.

My only complaints are with the additional captions for the seeing-impaired such as [Music], [Sound of waves crashing], etc. which interrupt the flow. But when the story is as good as I expect this one to be, it'll still be worth it!

I was about to start this, a little late so I can binge a few while catching up. And while I'm not dreading any geo-political controversies to arise, I would appreciate that the nuances inherent in the original Korean be satisfactorily translated. To me this means striking a balance between literal validity and literary authenticity via a deft touch which requires both expertise and experience.

Never have I more envied those of you who have taken the time and made the effort to learn the language so you might enjoy K-dramas more directly!
