Thank you for pointing this out. I can understand why many would want to rate a series they have dropped. (I just checked both of our watchlists and I only gave ratings to 05/21 of the series that I dropped, while you rated 64/97 of yours.)

He used to like her during their school days. He is pressured to take up a wife, but doesn't want someone chosen…
All this, plus he confessed to her early on that he had always wanted to marry for love!

He definitely will use his veto power.
It's hard to believe that when they keep making lovey lovey eyes at each other. Plus he has spies—perhaps including the pilot of that boat. As soon as he suspects their love is genuine, he is going to convince himself that she betrayed him by lying to him. And then he will react.

Yes. And the queen's father (Jin Mu, hehe) did want to do just that—he suggested trying to convince his grandson the king backtrack his blessing—but the queen dowager told him to not do that. She confided that the grand prince had played her because he was aware of her own betrayal when she thwarted the previous king's intention to abdicate the throne to his brother (the ML).

The Yun's need to rethink their plans before making their next move.

Yes. And after the grand prince played her as you describe, he also revealed that he knew all along that she had thwarted the previous king's intention to abdicate the throne! IOW, the grand prince's betrayal of his breakup promise was in response to her own previous betrayal preventing him from inheriting the crown!

My Mister is absolutely full of pathos. It is about pathetic people suffering through hopeless &/or miserable lives and yet somehow becomes something precious & sublime. Many find this hard to watch but if you can endure, it reveals the sincere value of humanity & provides catharsis by the end.

Perfect Crown is a Disney princess story about a poor little rich girl wanting to earn her daddy's affections & respect by marrying up. It has comedy and action and intrigue and hidden assassins and lots of glamourous events where people are dressed in very fine attire. Most of all, PC is a lot of fun!

I had suggested previously that MM should be everyone's first IU drama. (Her performance is amazing!) And to then come back here and watch PC to see IU find happiness. After watching MM, you will want to see IU find her HEA.

That was in the last season when the show went terribly downhill.

Are CDs typically broadcast from traditional-style tv stations? Are some networks there digital subscription services? I don't know much about their entertainment industry.

I've watched a couple C-Dramas which were excellent. And I know the individual episode lengths are typically shorter in duration. But I am still daunted by the high episode counts, and so have remained hesitant to explore further.

Interesting take. I would have loved to engage you in responding to my query below, but I can also respond here,…
I think thoughtful choices would be best encouraged by disallowing reviews for unaired episodes and for series before & until they are complete.

The Subway inside Buy More was the most immersive product placement I think I've ever seen. The Subway integration in Perfect Crown comes close (but not that close!)

I recall another one from the NBC sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother'. The married couple (Marshall & Lily) were having a heated argument, but suddenly stopped because they were hungry. They went to Red Robin for dinner where they agreed that they could only be happy at Red Robin. Then it cut back to their living room where they promptly resumed screaming at each other!

I'm pretty sure the shorter seasons is a result of pressure from the global streamers. SK networks like MBC get a lot of money for licensing their dramas and probably even more when they partner with a service like Disney, as is the case with Perfect Crown. This added revenue helps cover their losses when other series don't do as well. But Disney, Netflix, Prime Video original series typically all have short seasons.

I think these providers were copying the premium cable channels (HBO, Showtime, etc.) which were the first subscription networks and also the first to introduce short 10-episode seasons. These series (The Wire, Mad Men, Game of Thrones) started winning all the Emmy awards, which is what all new networks want in order to establish themselves & attract subscribers.

All of this is to say why I think the current trend of shorter seasons is a compromise between the broadcast networks and the streaming services.

does anyone else not like how the lighting in these new kdramas looks? why is everything so crispy and bright?…
LED lights are harsher and brighter than the traditional incandescent bulbs they replaced. They actually flicker 1000 times per second which most people don't normally notice but can cause a subtle strobing effect when fast camera frame rates are used for action & slow-motion scenes.

The rating system on MDL is just for fun, and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

The MDL rating system is such that anyone can rate a series without watching any episodes at all or rate it after watching partially before the drama has completed airing. This is by design.

We think the purpose of MDL is to provide a forum and information for drama fans. The actual purpose of MDL is to generate income for its owners by providing page views, serving ads, & selling flowers. The fans' interest drives engagement (page views) and it doesn't matter whether we are supporters or haters. Controversy is good—the more passionate we are about a show or actor, the more traffic we drive. The actual purpose of MDL is to generate income for its owners by serving ads & selling flowers.

If MDL were to limit rating episodes before they air, or series before they complete, it might improve the value of the ratings, but this would lead to a reduction of the revenue stream.

It's an intriguing possibility. But I don't think she bore the grand prince's illegitimate child because of her remark that her son resembled the former king and neither were like the grand prince who possessed regal qualities that they both lacked.

Can anyone tell me why was Grand prince hated by his father so much?
That's a very good question! I think there is more to be revealed, but he obviously saw the same things in his sons that I Rang did—that his firstborn lacked many regal qualities which his second son personified. The father's harsh admonitions & given names were to instill in the grand prince the discipline & duty to make himself smaller (so to speak), stay humble, and never outshine his older brother, the crown prince.

Going by the statistics, this show is doing pretty well in korea, right?
Yes. Ep 6 got an 11.1% viewership in SK and the original network MBC is capitalizing on the show's recent popularity boost by clearing their regular programming schedule this week to air reruns of the first six episodes. By welcoming latecomers to catch up on the drama, they expect the ratings to remain high continuing with ep 7 on May 1st.
