Yes, it's indeed true that dance is different from combat. However, in my opinion, that scene was to illustrate their familiarity with wielding those spears. Like I said, those ladies didn't grow up training to fight battles. However, their in-laws obviously taught them enough to hold off potential enemies. A skirmish in the city is wildly different from a bloody battle at the border of warring states. We also have to take into account that the arrival of Duke Hu certainly helped them to successfully do so. Furthermore, not every family was as liberal as the Chus who allowed their daughter to be a warrior. Chu Yu says multiple times throughout the episodes that she was a rebellious child who never wished to learn the ways of a genteel woman of those times.

They did allude to the Wei daughters-in-law being given basic training by their respective husbands. They are certainly not skilled enough to go to battle like Chu Yu but trained enough to self defend. When they were about to leave the Wei estate, they performed a dance with the spears of their late husbands. At the time, I did think that the scene was too on the nose, but, as it turns out, it was a foreshadowing of them banding together to hold off Yao's reinforcements. If anything, at least in this drama, they briefly laid the groundwork for what they showed in episode 17.
I just want to write about this here because I saw a few people saying the couple (Hajime & Kai) are not showing…
People also forget that they now have a kid around. Many parents/guardians may not be comfortable with PDA knowing that a tiny human may burst in on them at any time. Also, their chemistry feels very lived in. π
I donβt think they needed to be so sadistic with LY for the censors. That was by choice, a sadistic choice.…
I think it was so that there existed a clear distinction between LY of the past and the reincarnated LY of the present. To drive home the point that LY had NOT transmigrated to the present time and better sell the spiel of them dreaming about their time together. I never said misery was a requirement. I feel this way because of how they didn't leave off where the past LY was adamantly holding on to his disappearing memories of the Shen family. The makers made it a point of showing him growing old and dying all alone. Believe me, I am someone who wishes for unambiguous happily-ever-afters for the dramas that I watch even if such a positive ending defies logic. π So, for me, this ending was one of the better ones for dramas involving transmigration. I was totally bracing myself for a "they knowingly smile at each other in the very last second" kind of ending. Thank goodness, they didn't go that route.
In my opinion, as far as the final episode is concerned, the makers did the best they could with the restrictions in place. However, I do think they could have given the Lin Yan from a thousand years ago a happier story with SSG disappearing when they were well into their old age in some tragic incident and therefore "dying". Also, the Shen family ought to have "died" rather than have disappeared altogether from people's memories after living fulfilling lives in the past. The Shen family disappearance throws a lot of things into disarray, for instance, the whole story of Lin Yan seeking justice for the Cui clan, and his marriage being recorded in history. (Though one might argue that he ensured that his wife is remembered by recording his story himself for the future generations.) I guess the reason why the makers made LY of the past miserable because they didn't want to take any chances with the censors.
It's pretty evident that the present LY is a reincarnation of the past LY. Thank goodness, WYL and LYR are really good actors because the last conversation between SSG and the present LY made it amply clear that they both remember their time together. LY certainly remembers via the "dream", who he actually is and that they were madly in love with one another which is why he recognised her from the back of her head and tears up once he sees her face. In my head, they got together and married soon after. π
I'd say this is a pretty re-watchable series. In a future rewatch, one can simply skip to the interesting parts and fast forward through the rest. I, for one, really enjoyed this drama despite its flaws and draggy bits here and there.
the ending when the ml said when he called fl's name and cried and remembered FL. it is much better ending then…

The evil Botte heir is pretty cute. I wish he was the second male lead, not Meri's ex.
He was amazing in Love is for Suckers. His chemistry with his love interest was very wholesome. I watched their parts only, LMAO. Both of them were great in their roles. Ngl, in this drama, he has the a**hole rich heir down to a T. π
lol no wonder, i thought it was odd he suggested the wedding pic and swooped in with the kiss "cover up"
The makers pulled a Lovely Runner move. π€ Tbh, his sudden willing cooperation and enthusiasm to play along had felt a bit odd but I had chalked it upto his generally kind disposition. π
If you are craving for a similar plot, you may check out a CMini called A Farmer's Fortune.
Tbh, I don't see any issue in finding this drama similar to AFF. I wasn't commenting on the extent of similarity between the two anyways. Early on, the FL believes the older boy to be her ancestor which is initially why she decides to stick around in order to change his mind. I am yet to watch beyond ep 19.

Not necessarily so. The very reason why I made that recommendation is because of certain very similar elements in both. Saying more may spoil it for other potential viewers. It's up to the OP to decide on whether or not they wish to take my suggestion.
Yes, I love the grandpa, he is like his dad and mom at the same time, then later they reveal his background, the…
Thanks! You know what, I forgot that both Lin Yan's attendent and the young restauranteur have the same surname. So, I was baffled by your comment. π
