Both movies are very different in plot and... basically everything? (I guess both have a focus on music and take place in a school). I still felt like linking them through a recommendation as they feature the same main actor - Shim Hyun-seo. He started acting at a young age, so a lot of his youth is captured in films.
If you liked his portrayal as Yuwol and are curious about what hes been up to lately i suggest watching 404 as it shows a more grown up version. Likewise, if you liked him in 404 and are interested in checking out his previous works or his incredible dancing skills Yuwol seems like a good starting point

Short japanese romance dramas tackling adult life struggles
- the characters in colors work in film, same with some of the cast in the boy and i.
- practically four main characters, two guys who are gay and kind of have/had something going on, a women with her own struggles and a more aloof camera man.
The boy and i generally has a more serious tone but colors also has some impactful dialogue

Both are darker high school/coming of age stories
- male lead is gay and severely bullied because of it

- some are very possessive and obsessed, mentally unstable, one in particular is incredibly infatuated with the main lead and engages in criminal behaviour

Both are dramas that have very short episode run times so you can treat them like a lighthearted snack to consume during your busy day. Both include a more slow burn romance between two adult guys. Not many sets, these two spend a lot of time in the same space.

Both boys love shows are VASTLY different in plot, but i still feel they are a little similar. For one, the visual aesthetic of the paring is similar (one is somewhat taller, has lighter hair and is more submissive, the other has darker hair, a bit broader). Apart from this, both depict adults dealing with relationship complications and break ups. Still, the characters get (back) together.

Two people become involved with each other through online messages/messaging. Main characters are navigating love, romance, relationships, break-ups, hook-ups...
When it rains, it pours drops the online chatting element very quickly, while in Haru its kept until the end. When it rains it pours also has a cheating element and moves much quicker, although, Haru also has some complicated relationships and touches on relationship troubles while the characters gradually discover their romantic connection.
