Okay, there is a noise in this drama played in the background of so many (way way too many) scenes. This noise is meant to set an erie ambiance and heighten tension to the scene. It’s like a super high pitch grinder or some other type of machinery that is in desperate need of WD-40. It’s incredibly annoying. SUPER ANNOYING!!!! Like nails on a chalk board annoying. At first I thought something was wrong with my furnace until I hit pause. Why would they do this? It’s like torture for the viewers. Otherwise it’s a really good drama. I’m on episode 14.

What in the world was that bed scene? Like I get it Rio would be nervous as this was probably her first time,…
Did anyone else feel like the FL looked like she was trying to play a blind woman? She wouldn’t look in anyone’s eyes and would look off to the side. It was so strange. It was like she didn’t have any life behind those eyes.

Trying to look too polite and refusing to portray anyone as bad guys ruins the Japanese dramas. For that reason…
Yes, I agree. A drama needs a proper evil villain to be memorable. These dramas are just “meh.”

Who writes this stuff? It sure seems like it’s men writing for men because I can’t see this being appealing to any women. So often the women are written in these dramas like this one, young, innocent, meek, uneducated, and totally dependent on the man. That’s not how I like my romance dramas. As a strong, confident, independent, educated woman I find her behavior very cringe and the men’s behavior predatory and creepy. With all that said, this isn’t the worst Japanese drama I have seen. At least the writers gave her some talent with her art and allowed her some character growth. Overall it’s an okay drama, just “meh.”

On My Love from the Star Apr 20, 2025
On a whim I just started watching this again. Honestly I had forgotten KSH was in it. As soon as it started I recognized him but had to looked him up to be certain. I watch a large amount of dramas and he’s not one of my favorites but I like him as an actor. He is talented. It’s astonishing the amount of tears he had to cry in Queen of Tears.
I’m from the US so the KSH scandal isn’t news here. I do know what’s going on by reading articles/comments about him on here and watching YouTube. Wow, this has really tanked his career. Watching this drama again is crazy because so much of what is happening in real life to KSH parallels the FL career in this drama. A example of “art imitating real life,” in this drama there is an actress that was thought to have commit suicide and her fans/media blame her death on the FL, who is a popular actress, and her career suffers greatly because of it. I’ve got to admit that it’s a bit unsettling. Also in this the ML in this comes to earth 400 years ago and immediately forms a fate/destiny like connection with a teenage girl. He played by an adult male, KSH. In the drama they keep things platonic while still giving a somewhat romantic vibe. Who on the writing staff thinks that these adult men / young girls relationships are a good idea? Gross. Just gross.
It’s funny because I just finished “The Midnight Romance in Hagwon” last night. I thought the storyline of the rumor that the FL dated her student when he was underaged was parallel to KSH. If he has indeed been messing with underage girls then this is karma. However if the rumors are false then I can’t help feel sympathy for him, like I feel for the FL in these dramas that had their careers ruined in a similar way. I’m waiting to see how it all plays out in a court of law before I pass judgement. Still so strange to be watching these dramas that are eerily similar. I really do feel uncomfortable with the amount of pressure that these actors are under to be perfect and keep their reputations 100% clean. I would buckle under that much scrutiny.

I am on episode 10 and I admit this is a hard one to get through. I keep falling a sleep and having to rewind what I missed. I’m starting to find the OST songs annoying. They are distracting and playing on repeat. I like the ML and I like the FL but I’m not sure I like them together. It’s not the age thing. It’s just she spent the first half treating him like a kid/student. Now it just feels a bit icky because of it. I’m not interested in the educational system and the cut throat teaching academies. I just want to watch romance. Should I drop it? Anything more worth the watch?

I watch a lot of romance KDramas so all the Korean shows pop up on my Netflix feed. I saw this and started watching it on a whim. It’s really good. I’m enjoying it. I never heard of any of the celebrities before. I don’t follow the boy bands but I have heard of BTS. They play their songs on the radio in the US but I couldn’t have guessed any of their names until now. From this show, I am now a fan of Jin. I also really like Kian. Actually Kian is my favorite. I love his interactions with Jin.

I’m watching episode 5… Loving how Jin is going along with all the rules set by Kian.

Kian: “Everyone should eat the curry with their hands.”
Jin: (looking at Kian like he is crazy)
Kian: “It will be a good experience for the guests.”
Jin: (fixed dinner alone and now dealing with the guests alone. All guests looking for eating utensils) Also Jin: “It’s curry” (Like this is another way of saying eat with your hands. 😂
Guests: (laughing at the situation and waiting for spoons to magically appear. Soon they accept it and uncomfortably eat with their hands.
Kian: (enters room makes a quick assessment)
Also Kian: “You could have given them spoons.” To Jin
Jin: (giving Kian side eyes)

This had me laughing so hard. 😂

Title Undercover High School Spoiler
I really liked this drama. It’s been a few weeks and there’s just one thing I have to comment on… (in comments)
So the ML dad finds the gold and moves it to his own house. That’s suspicious. I know that he was fighting corruption in his organization and didn’t have anyone he could fully trust. Still it seems unlikely that he would hide gold in his own house, considering he had people out to get him. To me it seems like a sketchy choice to leave the gold.

Title Mr. Queen
I’m a first time watcher of this drama and I am currently on episode 15. I’m really enjoying this drama but it is also making me uncomfortable. Mr. Queen could easily be an extra extra long episode of Black Mirror. In particular, Mr. Queen makes me feel uncomfortable in same way as the famously popular episode of Black Mirror “US Callister” did. If you have never seen this episode, I will just have to assure you that it’s hard to forget.

I’m uncomfortable for BongHwan, as he is helplessly trying to hold onto everything that he needs to feel like himself. He is helplessly loosing his identity and it’s leaving him unhinged. In Mr. Queen this is played (successfully) for comedy. In that Black Mirror episode. a similar theme of losing control of one’s self, is adapted to a horror and deeply disturbing effect. Both leave me feeling uneasy but it’s the comedy of Mr. Queen that makes it easier to watch.

Mr. Queen is funny and fun and highly entertaining drama that I’m enjoying. It’s a classic for a reason. Still I can’t seem to get past that feeling of unease when watching.

I had just finished watching Moon Lovers for the first time and needed to watch something light and fluffy to recover. I picked this and it was just the feel good drama I needed. It’s a light fun easy to watch drama. I like the ML and FL.

Title Secret Relationships Spoiler
I think some things may have been lost in translation, making the entire contract situation a bit hard to understand.…
That’s right! It was that creepy photo taking guy that got the beating! I also forgot another important collage day fact.
- Poor Da On was clueless to everything.
This drama was a ride! I’m thinking of rewatching again knowing what I know now.
I’m going to watch for two things…
1. The subtle manipulations from JaeMin.
2. Examples of the two toxic guys being selfish over the way SeongHyeon put DaOn’s needs before his own.
Thanks!!!

Title Secret Relationships Spoiler
This was intense and highly entertaining. I have a “ Spoiler” question in the comments.
I think some things may have been lost in translation, making the entire contract situation a bit hard to understand. At the police station with Jae Min and Su Hyeon , when Jae Min went all psychic crazy, complete with maniacal laughter, he says to Su Hyeon, “You’ll never know why I did that contract.” - What exactly does he mean here? Does he mean that Su Hyeon didn’t know that Da On loved him instead of Jae Min in college? I thought he realized that earlier when he learn that Jae Min was manipulating Da On. That contract thing was bizarre and could have been managed with in a less confusing way.

So in college…
- Da On loved Su Hyeon
- Su Hyeon loved Da On
- Jae Min loved Da On
- Jae Min knows Da On loves Su Hyeon
- Su Hyeon isn’t certain of Da On’s feelings, meaning does he love him or Jae Min
- Jae Min proposed a contract to keep Su Hyeon from dating Da On by agreeing to not date Da On if Su Hyeon doesn’t date Da On as well. Seems to be a bit stupid on the surface but Jae Min is crazy, and is playin the “long game.” Using manipulation to keep any/all potential love interests away from Da On and by manipulating situations to draw Da On closer to him. Waiting 7 years for Da On to fall in love with him. Yikes, Jae Min is Toxic!!!
- Su Hyeon falls into a Jae Min trap and ends up having to leave the country for beating Jae Min. Da On sees Su Hyeon abusive side during the beating and is terrified of him when he returns 7 years later, thus causing Su Hyeon to be more and more controlling and abusive. Yikes, Su Hyeon is toxic!!!

I know that many are sympathetic towards Su Hyeon but to me he was scary abusive. That scene where he threatening Da On with killing Seong Hyeon, then goes into Da On’s the apartment after Seong Hyeon asks him not too was deeply disturbing. Then to see him waking up in Da On’s bed the next morning gave such a twisted “coercive rape vibe.” He was just as scary as Jae Min. Poor Da On. He had such crazy rich spoiled men doing their best to possess him without caring anything about his needs. This drama does an excellent job of showing that the Seong Hyeon is the only one that is putting Da On above himself. He was clearly the healthiest choice.

I believe I got a good understanding of the toxicity of their college days love triangle. Still would like to know what exactly Jae Min was referring to at the police station when he says, “You’ll never know why I did that contract.”
