visually, this show is a delight! the filming locations and scenery shots are so damn beautiful and combined with the high production, its an absolute feast for the eyes
the writing and dialogue could do with some work, i wont lie... i understood the general message certain scenes had but what i saw felt like an early script/draft with noticeable gaps of meaningful dialogue
i didn't mind the lack of physical romance since i like slowburns. i also liked the 'coming of age' aspects and the story essentially revolving around fifa gaining some worldly experience and maturing, but again, some more work on the writing was needed to really bring it across to the audience
visually stunning, but everything else needed a bit more work!
it was soooo cute and made for a great binge!!! but the main couple didnt have much angst or personality, and while they hinted at some pretty serious themes, they brushed over them quite quickly, making their scenes a lil more boring than i'd like to admit :/
the second pair was much more livelier and had my full attention whenever they were on screen - i would love a sequel for them!!!
if anything, watching this takes me back to 2016 when i would scour the web for bl and discovered low budget cbls hahah its quite nostalgic in that sense
the show makes for a quick and entertaining binge that shows the underhanded and deceptive methods at play during an election campaign, but in a high school environment - which is a greattttt premise, if you ask me
however i think the show didn't live up to its full potential. i think the writers needed to play with the character dynamics a bit more, especially between the running candidates as well as with the side characters, which i reckon were severely underutilised (especially the righteous choir captain and the suave nerd)
if the story used all of the characters better and showed the dynamics and relationships between everyone and how it changes with the election, it would have made for a more impactful narrative - still pretty solid tho!
a gripping tale of desperation, betrayal, and morality between three friends and how their impulsive choices quickly cause things to spiral out of control
i haven't heard anyone talking about this and had to scour through a ton of recommendations to even find it! its super underrated and the acting from all 3 leads is just straight up phenomenal!
if you like gritty and cynical dramas that revel in the dark side of human nature, you'll love this!!! i know i did!!
i think some things could have been fleshed out more, including the brothers' relationship, yun gi's pov of things, and the slow descent of the mc's morality but otherwise, i enjoyed this a lot!!
the fighting was gritty, which i loved, but i also really liked the introspective aspects moving the story forward, where eui gyeom was internally battling his demons and physically taking all that frustration out on bullies
it gives a fresh take on the high school underdog trope we've seen before, where instead of the lead fighting to protect his friends and being righteous, he's using violence as a therapeutic outlet, becoming a morally grey antihero of sorts
a s2 of them in their new school whooping ass would be a delight
Was the original really that homoerotic? I've been checking it out - up to episode 11 - and I haven't really felt…
i think the vibe comes from the extremely conflicted feelings they have for each other (respect/hate/distrust/admiration), which then creates those moments of palpable tension between the two, as well as how DS starts filling the gap that JW's father left in him, which is maybe more noticeable in the final eps
at the end of the day, its all subtext - nothing certain, but enough to make you raise an eyebrow haha
this season was a great continuation! the entire series as a whole is such a necessarily scathing critique on the very avoidable atrocities that continuously occur within korea's mandatory military enlistment system
their government forces young dudes into the army, cramps them into extremely hostile and stressful environments where bullies and abuse thrives, then offers no mental health or wellbeing support - and then dares to avoid responsibility when things inevitably goes south - that's fucked up!!!
this show reminds me of a documentary i saw a while back on korea's missing 'frog boys', and i initially thought the leading theory that the kids were shot and buried by soldiers from a nearby military base was outlandish....but after reading more about their military culture and the sadism it seemingly breeds, it doesn't seem so outlandish anymore....this show solidifies that too
fantastic acting and stories! i really hope to see a s3!
would have been so much more better if they had at least shown the main couple trying to mend things with minji at the end - the way they sidelined her so fast in such an uncaring way was so abrupt??
i like conflicting storylines, especially with the conflicting power dynamic making things difficult with the publishing CEO in the later eps but they really did their friend dirty...ost slaps tho
it's an interesting premise! it's balanced somewhere between Mad Max and Twisted Metal in terms of plot but unfortunately, its nowhere near as entertaining and captivating as either one
i really don't know how they managed to make this as boring as they did but the problem was definitely in the writing - it just simply wasn't appealing enough to make me get invested in the characters and what they were doing :/
this was so ridiculously entertaining lmaoooo and i LOVED the very brief workplace inclusivity bit at the end - very much a pleasant surprise for a mainland CH production!
I think background actors will completely be computerized, the real people will be the mains. This will cut the…
they'd only be expected to do things like that if it was initially mutually agreed on or stipulated in their contracts - anything outside of that is a physical violation and not a good working environment
background actors and contractors treated terribly by production to cut costs (getting verbally abused, not given lodging and meals when required, and not given appropriate conditions in sub-zero temperatures etc.)

such a good continuation of the story! its overall one of the best psych thriller horrors I've ever seen
