This is such a beautiful drama. I giggled and I teared up, but only slightly. It's not a heavy drama.
I think viewers of different generations can find things here they can relate to. It talks about life issues, not in a heavy way though, of people from students to retirees. I love the 'old/young' dynamic between SDC and LCR. They relationship is just beautiful. I'm totally loving it, and it's only ep 2.
Just a side note, for those who watched WYEL or other KBLs, or for the many WOH fans, this drama doesn't hook you like those in the sense of how torturous it was waiting for the next episode of those ones. The feel is very different here. What I'm trying to say is, for me, I'll wait for the next episode diligently and will watch it the day it airs, just like how I am currently with WOH. But the 2 eps of Navillera have been leaving me a nice feel afterwards, instead of a 'craving' (I don't know how to express this without making WOH sound 'bad' like a drug. I want to say WOH is 'good' but different from N).
I'm actually glad that you felt comfortable posting this opinion. I realize that the many negative comments might…
You are a really kind person. This was the first reply you ever gave me. Just to let you know, I was quite new to MDL then, though I've started watching BLs 1(?) year beforehand, and I really felt nice/better when I saw your reply.
I've seen you around, also helping other members in various MDL pages.
As far as I know from Youtube, 5(?) years ago after that ep, apparently viewers reacted against seho, so he apologized to the viewer. But he did not aplogize to JK personally. But Youtube may or may not be factual.
My last drama was Cherry Magic back in Dec, which I love to death and I was in a very bad withdrawal period for…
Sorry, budding into your conversation with Hikari no Naka. Yes!!! and Thousand Autumns, Tian Bao Fu Yao Lu, Heaven Officials Blessng. But I'm not sure if the real life dramas have been confirmed yet, but I do see MDL have their pages. I'm watching the Donghuas now and loving them. :-)
Great start for ep 1. It's a relatively quite show, at least the parts on SDC. Very touching. My eyes got watery twice. I think SK danced some of the ballet scores himself. He might have used a double but my impression is he danced some himself. He has great posture. Looking forward for tomorrow's ep 2 :-)
Just finished ep 16. I'm not understand a few motives: 1) Why did the two, a man and a woman, in lime green and peach clothings kidnaped ZCL? Is it to force GC to give them the blue crystal? Sorry, it's difficult for me to remember all the names. 2) Why did the 'Begger Clan's leader' tried to get ZCL during the chaos at the martial art conference? As hostage? or to eleminate the last 'heir' of ZCL's clan? or to stop GC from having ZCL as his son in law? 3) ZZS mentioned that GC gets no advantage to 'keep' ZCL since he already got ZCL'S blue crystal. So was GC being responsible for the son of his brother? or he just wants ZCL to be his son in law? 4) what is the purpose to have ZCL as his son in law? Would that marriage somehow allow GC to take over ZCL's clan?
I seem to be missing these motives even with the sub versions. Thanks.
i never watched a chinese drama before, not even the untamed. what should i know about chinese dramas before starting…
Oh and heroines in brothels. I think EVERY single Chinese 'period' dramas I watched had brothels. And it seems to me there's always a heroine in them who aids the ML.

THEY ARE FANTASTIC PERIOD :-)
A more detailed information: 1) It tremendously help if you understand Manderin. Otherwise, wait for the subs, which in the case of WOH, it's so slow that it's torturous for many of us. 2) WOH quotes many classic Chinese literatures, so if you know some of them you'll appreciate the drama better I think. If you don't know them, like myself, there's a Youtuber who gives some explainations. I tried looking it for you, but I can't seem to find that video anymore. Sorry. 3) There are symbolisms and metaphors that are unique to the Chinese culture. Again there are Youtubers helping explaining them. Here's one video you can find. This one also explained some quotes from poems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbh5XQ8RWdQ 4) You'll learn a lot of strong values about the Chinese culture. They may differ from your own. So keep an open mind, the storyline does make sense if you understand their value systems. Some examples are : "loyalty" is extremely important in Chinese culture, hence when one elder/teacher/member/family/clan/etc is being attacked, others will avenge for them, hence you see a lot of revenges in these dramas; "honor" is another, hence you see people killing/cutting themselves or something similar as an act of promise or to own up a mistake etc. "discipline/endurance/ hardwork/devotion" the martial art trainings they do are not only demanding but they last for years and still will not perfect the art. One might view that as 'stupid' to spend such a large part of your life on them. But no martial art means it's not Wuxia. 5) I love the Wuxia fighting scenes and movements. But I read before that they seem too 'unrealistic' to westerners. So bare in mind that those 'exaggerated fantasy' style of movements are Wuxia's charactoristics. 6) The clothes and hairdos might look odd to you. Again that's the style for most Chinese 'historic' dramas.
That's all I can think of right now. Basically, if you are familiar with the Chinese customs and values etc, the drama makes perfect sense. If not, you'll find you can learn PLENTY things about the Chinese in JUST one drama. Personally, I find those values wonderful, but they seem rather difficult to adopt properly. I've learned to respect the people who follow these 'believe systems'. But I'm not sure if modern days Chinese still adhere to them or not.
Netflix kept increasing their price here, it wasn't cheap to start off with.

Anyhow. I'm loving N !
BTW, what was that news about? Thx

Thanks FreshKicks and Greetings :-)
Not to worry, it's so distant to me for quite some time now. My time and attention are spend on things elsewhere.
But when I get posts, Sony's most recently, I think it's just right to respect her views regardless if I accept them or not. I'd defend my biases too.
Yes, definitely won't shy away from continuing voicing my views! Not to worry :-)

Back to lol and *sigh*.
But no worries ;-)
