As someone who went through watching these episodes daily, I understand feelings from both sides. Whilst this is truly a slow burn romance, you can see how complicated their relationship is given the circumstances they’ve had to deal with throughout life. There’s so much to unpack for each character.
You should be prepared to be frustrated, to go through the agony but also be filled with love. Whilst the journey of their relationship can be an agonising process the overall conclusion was worth it after the back and forth.
PS: I really loved the uncle/officer a lot. His situation is bittersweet but I loved how much he did for the kids, and how he continued to persevere for justice for his loved ones.
Y'all, if I was Miao Jing in ep 23 specifically in the scene where he is packing and then leaves, I would be LOSING…
I can understand MJ's anxiety towards the situation, and I think it's very fair she did what she did - I mean even the police officer advocates for her saying she is worried. However the fact they both don't clearly communicate their intentions, makes it very hard to trust one another and roles...
This is exactly what I have been trying to say. They are both so damaged that we cannot expect them to be completely…
There's so many ways this could end up - I have so many questions on what happened to the CY's past, his decision to send MJ away, what really happened with the officer's wife, why BZ is still limping amongst so many other things which I hope they'll begin to unpack??
This is exactly what I have been trying to say. They are both so damaged that we cannot expect them to be completely…
In the recent episodes where she chose to reveal her association with CY to ZB, I couldn't imagine how anxious CY was. Like you said, ZB is already suspicious and I feel like it's just leading to ZB getting closer to catching him out knowing there's a vulnerability/weak spot.
But alas, we will just have to wait to see how MJ and CY's relationship goes from here... I really do hope we'll be able to learn about his past given we're already 23/32 episodes in. And I can't imagine at what point would this info be disclosed without it being forced at this stage.

I also felt like he was finally establishing a life for himself away from Zhang Bin but it seems he is now having to get deeply involved again in order to protect her. It's been so many years and he was getting ready to move on from it all...

And her character is described as a force to be reckoned with - someone hungry, ambitious and you can definitely see she's willing to go to the ends of the earth to make things happen but sometimes you just need to take a step back. It just feels like a lot of baggage that keeps growing and it makes it suffocating to be honest.
Exactly, when Miao Jing said "I thought I would rescue you from all this but turns out I am causing you more…
I think that's what makes it hard for their relationship to work as well. No one is willing to give in to explain what they're both doing which just leaves to misunderstandings even though they have love for one another - they can't truly love if they aren't able to openly talk about it. And I know that requires time and trust but it feels it's not really working that way.
I feel like their relationship is extremely complicated. One half is willing to do anything to protect the other, but also has been through a lot that has affected their mental well-being and self, which has led them to be so secretive and avoidant of the past.
The other has a stable job but chooses to return to their past, not knowing that their reckless behaviour is leading them to risk the life of their beloved, if not themselves.
I think while I understand communication is key for both individuals, it's difficult when one is trying to force themselves to learn about the other after being away for so long, especially when the police officer said that they will tell you when they're ready - yet it feels like they aren't being given the space to be able to comfortably talk about it.
This show was so wholesome, I felt like I lived for all their interactions outside of the show because you could tell how much chemistry the cast had in general - hope they stay friends for a long time and meet up more as well!
ever since they ran away and got a dog I suddenly lost interest in this drama. I’m stuck on episode 18. do things…
Honest opinion, I think it escalates quite quickly after their “wholesome” living together situation. And I actually think towards the latter part of the drama it is quite enjoyable so if you can get through the next few episodes it will be worth!
I’m wondering why FL changes his phone contact to “6”. Can anyone explain?
They do explain this later in the drama, but basically 6 is pronounced “Liu” similar to Lu from Lu Xixiao’s name. She was embarrassed about messaging him because he was quite popular so changed it to 6 - but I think theres connotations around the number 6 anyway since it’s usually refers to someone who is cool / awesome in Chinese slang
How did Duman and Song Cong kiss like that and go back to normal - like major trauma bonding moment but also wth - I could see the potential but it just felt SO sudden
But I do understand how they align better going through hardships and having similar backgrounds.
I was expecting more push and pull between them both considering it had been 10 years, I mean even with how quick Zhou Wan folded too, but alas you can't stop love
