I haven't noticed any 'pushing'... But anyway, this drama is about adults, but not 15-year-olds and sex is a nice…
Mmmm, every time she asks him to go at her pace, he says "she's cute" but doesn't address what she's said. He just deliberately gets too close and hugs her. He had time to develop feelings for her over years, but he's not giving her any time to get used to their relationship. They've been going out for what, a week? And he expects sex when she's only just started liking him? That feels pushy to me. It has nothing to do with the age of the characters and more of it doesn't seem like he has any respect for her pacing in their relationship. It's probably just that in the end, this drama isn't to my taste. I may drop it, we'll see. It was cute to start with, but there's absolutely no substance at this point.
I've enjoyed most of episodes 1-9 with one exception. He's been in love with her secretly for more than 2 years, right? She's JUST NOW discovering feelings for him. But he's pushing for sex immediately. That's about as inconsiderate as you can get. I like Mamiya quite a bit, but he's overbearing when sex enters the picture.
I love romance dramas, but I prefer the ones that have fewer tropes. And maybe let the characters make some logical choices now and then that might be considered out of the typical "plot skeleton" of a romance story. Just finished watching "Around 40" and it was surprisingly fresh, fun, and real. I wish more romance dramas could capture what made "Around 40" feel original despite being an age-gap romance.
Well worth a watch! It avoids most of the popular tropes and relies on acting chemistry and facial expressions to express intimacy instead of physical touch. That's rare nowadays! I came out of the drama feeling like I'd just seen something super special. A really spectacular and soothing drama with more realism of choice than I expect from most Asian dramas. It was really refreshing.
probably tired of Yamapi not acting in the drama, lmao
I watched the first episode of Flowers for Algernon and was blown away. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of it.
The special comes up on DramaCool if you type in Buzzer Beat. It's not really a special in the true sense of the word. It's more like a collection of interviews and hype leading up to the release of the show. But it was interesting to get the actors' takes on their character and the show, that sort of thing.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with him in Hollywood. He's got the English, but I wonder what type of roles they'll throw his way.

Apologies. He was excellent in Code Blue and Buzzer Beat. I haven't watched Flowers for Algernon yet, but it's on my list for this month. It's possible he was bored with Proposal Daisakusen. He admitted in the Buzzer Beat special that he hates love triangles. So maybe that was tough on him. He ends up in so many love triangles it's ridiculous. From 5 to 9 disappointed me too, so maybe it does depend on how interesting the role was to him. Anyway, sorry about that. I get a little touchy about him sometimes because sometimes folks are just not nice.
Keigo will go down in history as second lead with more screen time the love interest SoraWhen did Sora show up…
Yeah, Yuri just is so stereotypical. One thing you can count on is that type of female love rival in just about any Asian drama. It's kind of funny and depressing at the same time. I hope Manaha figures out what she wants to do without being pressured by either Sora or Keigo. She's developing inner strength and it'll be interesting to see what she does with it.

And I may end up liking Keigo better as the series progresses. That has happened for me in the past. I did appreciate that Sora apologized to Manaha in episode 4 for his attitude in episode 1. That was huge. I wasn't expecting him to do that. And he was so serious about his apology too. Anyway, we'll see what happens. I won't stop watching.

My issue is probably that I'm done with the whole "sparkly prince" thing. This might actually be the last high school drama I watch. It's not that Keigo's bad, it's just that he's the "ideal" when a guy like Sora makes so much more sense in real life. Anyway, it comes down to preference. I usually have an issue with any character who starts in a way that seems superficial. I will admit that even Sora sees something in Keigo and thinks he's nice, which he is. But being nice isn't enough for me. I know plenty of nice people that feel superficial and Keigo's just one of those. To each his own.
One of the biggest reasons why I tend to avoid 'shoujo' j-dramas and manga alike is because I never understand…
The joys of the entertainment industry. Folks like that would be given their walking papers in real life. I like Manaha but she does still feel a bit clueless, typical FL. It's a short drama so I'm not expecting too much character growth. We'll see.

Mmmm, I think he's saying that he's had plastic surgery. Why else do the thing with the picture? Which means he's made himself who he wants to be. But if he's deliberately chosen to be the "look at me, aren't I amazing, are you mesmerized by me, yet" kinda dude due to improving his face through plastic surgery, then yeah, not cheering for him. That's the primary reason I don't watch K-dramas. But we'll see what happens. I haven't watched ahead since I need to wait for subtitles.
Regardless, Keigo thinks Manaha standing in front of a crowd at a beauty pageant is going to "fix" her or "help" her in some way. Even when she doesn't want to. He was super pushy in episode 4. But Sora thinks she's awesome the way she is and that she doesn't have to prove herself to anybody. And he apologized for his behavior in episode 1 (yes, he did appear in episode 1, not episode 2). To me, he's the better man. And so far, he's had more screen time with Manaha than Keigo in the last couple of episodes. Maybe we'll get lucky and for the first time ever in my experience with dramas, the SML will actually get the girl. Since this is the first time that she should end up with the SML.
And here's why I think that. Strength is in finding what you're good at it and doing it. That's why Sora took her to meet his sister. Because she found something she was amazing at and loved doing outside of the whole beauty pageant thing. He wants to see Manaha shine, and not through the fake shine of external beauty that pageants focus on.
Keigo is a weak ML and he's going up against a strong SML. He's toast. Even if Keigo gets the girl in the end, it would have to be through some lame sabotage of Sora by the authors. Which would suck but is what I'm expecting. Sorry you don't like Sora much (at least that's what I'm getting from your response). But that's your choice. We'll see what happens. I don't hate Keigo. But I don't like him either. And it has nothing to do with how he looks. It's how he behaves.
Ehhhhhhh????? More reason to dislike Keigo. He's trying to support Manaha, but in all the wrong ways. I did not like him at all in this episode, whereas my love for Sora just keeps growing. I mean, come ON, wasn't he awesome in episode 4?!
This drama deserves at least 8.9. one of the best school dramas and one of the best shows about philosophy I have…
I know what you mean. I'm getting used to Jdramas being underrated on MDL, but still, it's frustrating when there's a drama like this that isn't rated what it should be.
