I love the slice-of-life genre sm. When done well, it can feel like a warm blanket on a cold night. This was such a comfort watch to me when it was airing, and though I'll watch any pairing if the story interests me, this drama shot EmiBonnie projects right up to the top of my most-anticipated. I loved how naturalistic and comfortable their acting & chemistry felt. I love more "holistic" feeling dramas that give a strong sense of character and importance even to the minor roles, and I really felt like the surrounding cast added to that feeling of warmth. Lovely direction and music too. <3
Ohhhh, so THIS is why we've all been getting a heatwave... /hj
But honestly wth even is this? Bad for the environment, bad for the brain and bad for the human experience / heritage expressed and passed down through art. Hugely disappointing.
Some people like it, but... I'm watching BL because I want to watch hot guys. I'd actually take a straight side…
Some people are more open to what they might truly enjoy, and I hope they're out there making the treasure out of our trash. I hope there are many more stories like this one to follow. ā¤ļø

As I said, I'm sure there'll be a lot of other people out there who are more open-minded than you or I who'll love this specific story and wouldn't skip at all. I hope there'll be more like it soon, that are better done soon so that I can enjoy them too.

It's not really a "problem", per say; it's just not what you or I like. Taken from another perspective, why should creatives care about the opinions of one viewer? There are probably people who are a lot more open-minded out there.

If both you and I watch, even if for different reasons, then on an executive level it still counts metrically, and on the writers' end, you can't put a lock on creativity. As someone who's more "primary focus = good story, secondary focus = emotional investment, tertiary focus = how hot I find it", I think if a story's well done enough, a concept like it could work for me. If you're just about how hot and bothered a story gets you, maybe just don't give them the metrics?

Yeah, tbh I mostly skipped the BL scenes in this one. I'll watch anything with a good story, but as the story was lacking, I was only interested in the GL this time. I'm sapphic, and I'll take any rep I can get.
Gross, and very anti-LGBTQ+, you should check your homophobia.
Yeah, unfortunately a lot of straight people are more into fetishising gay relationships than story or genuine rep (especially as Mae and Nana are together IRL, which is pretty rare in GL or BL pairings) ://

To be fair, I don't really think this drama appealed to any particular demographic ā not GL enough for GL watchers (most of what I watch is GL and I only checked this drama out for the GL, but found it too lacking ā and it hasn't really been talked about, even with Mae being in a well received GL a while back, and Mae / Nana being one of the rare real life couples doing GL), not BL enough for the BL watchers, and too mid for people who'll be able to watch anything if it has a good story attached,, even if they might have a preference for one or the other.
I know Iām probably speaking too soon but I really feel like episode 11 was such a change in the flow of the…
I feel the exact same, unfortunately. :// I can always suspend my disbelief to a certain extent with fiction, but I feel like this episode really stretched my limit on that.
Lord of the Rings could have been told in one sentence: "A hobbit travelled to Mordor to drop an evil ring in a volcano." ā but if it was told with ultimate brevity and efficiency in mind, there wouldn't have been time for Tolkien to delve more into the horrors of war, or flex his linguist nerd brain.
I personally really appreciate the time this story's taken for its characters to breathe. I think it would be a very different story if they'd rushed through certain plot points. It is, at it's core, a character-driven story ā and I think it's nice to have stories that tease and takes their time in an otherwise seemingly endless world of instant gratification and short-form content stripped to the bone.
I'm really looking forward to these last two episodes. I hope they live up to everything that's come before. ā”
I think it's really good! I like dramas that tend to be on the slower end / slice-of-life, but I think different elements (psychology of being an idol / a fan, the romance, the mystery) might appeal to those who don't. I'd say this is a drama that's high on angst, moderate on tension / suspicion ā but it also feels very warm and grounded. A solid 9/10 for me so far; possibly a 9.5 or an 8.5 depending on how it lands the ending.
Amid all the annoying chaos and mess, our couple was just ridiculously cute. They know exactly what to say to…
I hadn't thought about how their different levels of dating experience are showing, but you're so right! I love them; they're a couple that radiate ultimate warmth and safety to me.
I don't know why ā but that one scene in ep. 9 where Ra-Ik was washing dishes, and he said "Ordinary moments are the hardest to have." really struck me. Maybe due to personal circumstances recently, but I've been feeling really grateful even when I'm able to sit down with the people I love and drink hot chocolate together ā or when I'm able to go to places with friends and live my life in ways I never thought I'd be able to. When you've been in a dark place for a long time or you've felt stuck for a while, I think it's the rare tiny, perfect and ordinary moments that can really make a big difference.
