I was already likely to watch it anyway because of the main leads (I loved Love is Sweet) but the first episode has really intrigued me! I’m hoping watching while airing doesn’t torture me too much; I usually try to avoid doing this to myself but couldn’t resist the lure of these two. Also hope it keeps its momentum, so far no dull moments!
I watched the drama what feels like a century ago but seeing the sequel on Netflix made me super excited because while I only vaguely recall what happened in the drama, I do know that I really enjoyed it. And same goes for this film! There’s something about this couple that just keeps you going even at points where I was thinking the film was too long.
I was somewhat disappointed by the reveal but then the Joker made me happy again lol I wouldn’t mind another season but I think we’ve put these guys through enough!
I didn’t finish Love and Redemption because I couldn’t handle how much suffering the male lead went through. I’m getting similar vibes here - should I just quit now?
Yup, I also imagine if only this drama could show a scene where the Feng Couple has a cute child, and Lanxi can…
Actually, now that you’ve said that, come to think of it, the YAMG couple didn’t have a child, though they did talk of having children. Ah, well! A child isn’t necessary for a happy ending, I know, but it just seems like a cherry on top :)
I liked it but they really couldn’t give us a baby in the end? Always gives me heartwarming feelings when there’s a kiddo to carry on their legacy! Especially when Pu’er died and Lanxi only has ten years. Would have been a happier ending but I suppose seeing them together is really all I needed.
Also I don’t know if it’s just the effect of having seen You Are My Glory earlier this year but I just don’t get that deep love vibe from Yang Yang here like I did in YAMG. Only felt a friend vibe all the way between them. Maybe it’s just me.
I was skeptical about watching this drama as I’m usually a hardcore romance kind of girl but this was super heartwarming to watch everyone’s journeys and see them overcoming their struggles. Also very satisfying when the villains get their due punishments. So glad I watched it. 9/10 from me! Whoever styled Lee Soo Hyuk deserves a raise.
I’ve been intrigued by some YouTube videos of Joong Gil and Goo Ryun and really want to see how it plays out. Do you think it’s worth watching the entire drama?
It’s a comparison that also struck me when watching Squid Game, particularly as it’s our generation who watched The Hunger Games with morbid fascination and now watching a similar story as adults.
What’s particularly chilling about THG is the age range used. In Squid Game, they’re all adults and arguably in a situation of their own creation for some (gambling debts, fraud etc). In The Hunger Games, they’re kids and it’s essentially a punishment for something that happened before they were even born but have to suffer for.
I can’t lie - it definitely kept me entertained for two hours.
Much like everyone else here it seems, I like it but am weirded out by the step sibling love. However, the good thing is they didn’t do much until they came clean to each other. If they had kissed or went further while still under the “Mina” pretense, I’d have been much more eked out.
Also, I don’t know if all parents, friends and (technically spurned) exes would be this accepting but the post credits scenes were adorable and a nice touch to finish on. Unsurprisingly, my heart aches for the second male lead; they just had so much chemistry. 8/10 from me!
I would have never watched this if it weren’t for the hype. High quality and definitely well produced with a great cast who I’m thrilled are being recognized for their talents. Not really my cup of tea but a good drama.
It’s been a while since I found an engaging historical k-drama (I think the last one I enjoyed was Queen For Seven Days) and I’m so happy with this one! The eyes are *chef’s kiss* and Kim Yoo Jung is a joy to watch on screen.

Thai lakorns are in an entire genre of themselves and seem to completely ignore the idea of consent…or of non-toxic relationships.
