True! GmmTV is no LINE TV- lol. For sure replacing story by passion would have been just as wrong- I wouldn't mind if there is little skinship after ep 5 until later eps- but what we have now is this crass contrast which I don't buy at all. They just lost all the tension built up- Pran was so vunerable after the kiss, afraid to lose his friend and crush again, but they sort of just glossed over the potential of that dynamic-, the friendship with Wai- so important to Pran- was almost broken beyond repair and what happened? -Pat to the rescue-. There is so much potential in Pran's history and character and they just sort of ... let it pass by.

You really put your finger on the problem. After the iconic rooftop 'no', where did all the tension and desperation go? They made out like they were drowning and now it's all snuffels and cuddles? Since ep 6 the script has turned to a 'problem of the day' sort of episode style. There's not really a continous deep plot, which is sad because it had all this potential...! and I am going to voice an unpopular opinion: is Pat's whole character now to be this flawless boyfriend with no own drive or wants? Seriously, it's like prince charming's come to life. Please somebody burst this pink bubble- it is just off-putting. Having said all that, there are some great features in this series, which are novel and highly enjoyable. So of course, will watch to the end ;) Merry Christmas :)

Yes, I know the curtain-fall is the more dramatic and drama-worthy plotline, but I would have liked to see the character growth they have to go through that leads them to come out on their own volition...

I am actually quite impressed how Kiyoi never falls into the role of dominance. Okay, he's a bully - fact. But with the kind of devotion Hira shows him, he could be much more abusive of the power he holds. In facts he is rather gentle towards Hira. Shares of himself and reminds Hira not to overdo it. While Hira's devotion bordering on obsession is always open - Kiyoi is always aware. That is a very fragile balance they manage to portray here.

That was a really wonderful mini series. But let's talk about the elephant in the room: he is a barista and he brews instant coffee in a filter. why?

Oh, this was so much better than I expected! I thought I would end up skipping Oh's storyline but I really got to like him a lot, especially when he meets Pong, Jack & Jued. His character change is so subtle but powerful. Even I got a huge man-crush for P'Pong XD I like that they gave all characters a lot of room to develope outside the 'romance'-plot. There was really nice friendship and family background which was well told.

Just when that first bar scene knocked my socks off, they went and called him 'the gay conquerer' -- excuse me? Have some dignity. That's terrible XD

I know!!! But when you see him do this phantom of the opera thing you can't help but think of the dignity and subtle shyness portrayed by Nicky Wu and face palm at the contrast...

I can only tell you about my own experience: I love the c version. And was heartily disappointed by the K-drama. Not because it's bad or anything (it has great cinematography and is well executed). But if you want to watch it because you want to 're-experience' how great the c drama was- then you will probably not enjoy it. But if you look at it as a completely different drama then you might like it.

agreed. I grinds my gears that people want to censor noncon, as if that makes it non existent. I doubt those of us who enjoy it want to be subject to domestic abuse- we just enjoy good powerplay. Too many ppl cannot look beyond the problematic character to see how well they both execute the emotions. I melt every time, I see Tharn react to Type's rare bouts of gentleness. You can lit see he craves the dominance. It's quite compelling and a pleasure to watch. No, Type is not nice (despite the description on VIKI -lol) on the other hand Tharn is quite happy to manipulate his way to what he wants. His possessiveness pleases Type no end. They are well matched that way.

I think that really depends on your preferences. There is no right order. Apart from the skeleton plot they are actually quite differently executed. If you start with the original/older C version it may set the bar very high for Scarlet Heart. If you start with the Korean version, you may not enjoy the slower paced/less flashy style of the C drama. Personally, I think the Chinese version is one of the most flawless/well rounded historical dramas so I definitely have a favourite ;)

I live in fear of the live comments... i can never decide if I want them to agree with me or not... XD But I agree that fanservice should be something to reserved for later episoded. It is so much more effective ;)
