I haven't heard the expression 'a curate's egg' in a long time! But then I haven't lived at home (England) for…
I always used it, but never knew where it came from. Eating around something to find the' good@#' bits, which I think sums this up perfectly.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curate%27s_egg

This was a complete mess, it was like there was two different writers or it was a case of pot luck pick a 'scene' for the day and make it up as you go a along.
I ended up giving it a higher mark because when bits worked they worked surprising well and the ML's did a good job. I still think it could have been better as a straight up sex comedy, and most of the rest of the cast seemed to be as if they had been plonked in for fillers, and it was pretty cringe.
A bit of a curate's egg.

I liked this a lot, I probably missed a lot the jokes because Chinese historical drama isn't really my thing, usually too much bad dubbing and acting. This is very well acted, the ML is a great comic foil, and can do a pained face like no other, and it's great to see a female lead who is not a simpering victim, there are a few in real life, but they are not as common as in most dramas.
The production values, music and the idea of the story telling, that people have many sides was great.
I will own up I am not a 40ep drama lover, because then tend to go things needlessly to fill time, and this got a but stagnant for me. I liked the ending, which implied an even more complicated event.

In the end I give it 9, not only for the good parts but leaving out the whole toxic mess that seems to be repeated in most romance dramas, and the nasty characters they have to put in them. Honestly the majority of life is not like this.
I like the older couple as well because a lot of mature relationships are like this, a compromise where neither loses anything, and being bemused when your partner is predictable one minute and completely surprising later.

Thank you!
As a whole I enjoyed it, I just wish they had the courage to play it full camp, and not try for any sort of realism. More Confessions of a Window Cleaner.
I had to look it up, it only gets 4.8 on IMdb, cost £150k and made £1,265,954 gross. There is money in providing a 'full service'. with a bit of fun.

You know what the best part about googling flatiron was? The AI generated response that explained it came from…
That is hilarious. The one I googled came up with cartoon pictures. Couldn't work out what 'implement' they were describing but its seems and odd choice for the description. Perhaps I need better pictures.

I have to give it a 9, it could have been a 10 but the whole stuff on the boat didn't really true.
OK, its very different from the first two because its more about how our life and behaviours are controlled for the benefit of others with money and you often you have to compromise your ideals to survive or help others survive and have your 'happy' ending, but have you really changed anything? The system still exists.

My stand out actor from this season is Yim Si Wan, god those eyes. Park Gyu-young is just the most underrated female actor able to play the most complex characters believably and also be a great comic actor. For once in this there were some stand out female roles, not just the side chick.

If the writer has sold the idea to the US, good on him. I hope he makes a shed load of money. They will probably screw it up, like everything else they touch, can you imagine it in a theme park?

If you think they have no chemistry that is completely fine, I just find the concept of judging someone intellect personality by their looks difficult, although it is a drama trope, the hero has to be tall even if he is more likely to have back problems.
Boys in particular in a group of the same age can look very different, and some just never seem to 'age up', my husband is like this, when he was in his late 20's he looked like a teenager, and he is small framed.
The idea if you are small in stature you intellectually undeveloped and incapable independent thought, or even 'baby' faced you are childlike , demeaning, although there are women in real life that I have seen work this to their advantage.

I find the idea of people not 'visually fitting together' really strange. When I look at couples, often in long term relationships, the thing that seems common, is on the outside they shouldn't be a match. Are we supposed to chose partners only outward appearance?
There is also the ideas in k and c drama that the women has to be small, with the comments of how cute she looks with a tall man who is perhaps many cms taller than her, So that's not OK for men?
I think the main point about Ji Won, his outside appearance does not reflect his toughness, and saying because he is small and making assumptions is bit like the generalisation of the female dumb blond, or a small women being passive, as unfortunately depicted in a lot of Asian drama, and also the FL very slim to the point of looking anorexic. The are very few FL that are tall, and the ones that are are often depicted as being 'difficult' and assertive.

Ji Won being small doesn't make him a child or even child like, he thinks like an adult, he just has less experience of normal life, but is still able to decide what he wants.
Ji Won could be called a twink, but I know a few small men who are pretty aggressive, and my SIL is 6'4', would rather cry than fight.

If your a gymnast you are basically putting your body on show, and being aware your body all the time. I couldn't understand why he was being played that way until you here about the abuse, and then it made sense. He covers up emotionally and physically, with his photography he is the viewer standing watching. He is detached from life, not really participating, because when he did speak out he and family got media attention and online abuse.
The clothing is almost childlike as if he trying to hide or regain a simpler time. There is also a core strength in him, he protects his family, restarts his life, and tries to fit in and become someone else.
I think the reason that Jeong U is attracted to him is because of this strength. He is not hanging on to him causing drama, he is not obsessed about being with a popular person, doesn't need or want the reflected glory and he understands the pressures of sport.
I think its a shock to Jeong U that he can have a relationship with someone who is not being dependant and asking for attention all the time.
On the outside they seem opposites but they have a lot in common.

It should be a worn out formula, but it actually wasn't. Its showed how lightening can strike, and how from the outside two very different people can connect, because on the inside they match. Not too much unnecessary angst.
Of its type 9/10

I have started this, and although it looks beautiful, the acting is good, I am finding it very slow, like reading a book out loud. When does it start moving along?

Well this has been a pleasant surprise. At first I thought this just a little too sweet, but considering the age group it is probably aimed at I think it hit's its target audience.
It's shows a tiny bit of angst and then the excitement of a new relationship where you want to breath the others air all the time. Then comes the clever bit.It somehow manages to discuss how two people can learn to understand each other, and listen to each others point of view, without being preachy . When you have a disagreement or they really annoy you, you do not flounce off and slam the door, either verbally of physically, That everyone has 'faults,' and accepting and understanding someone’s different way of doing things or anxieties, is part of a proper relationship.
I actually like the teachers relationship because they to have to work of their different ways of thinking, one thinks he has a neat solution and then the other goes well have you thought about this, because he has thinking about it all along, but has said nothing. From splitting a bill to where to live it has to be a joint understanding.
It's more adult in its depiction of relationships that most dramas aimed at an older age group, where the standard trope is we had a row so,
a) I am not going to speak to you,
b) I am I going to get drunk and run to my ex, or get picked up in a bar.
c) lets split up

The only reason I think Chen would put up with him I can think of is that he is like a puppy that knows no boundaries that barks a big dog, and then runs off, the larger dog looking on in baffled amusement. Honestly though why would Chen waste is time? It doesn't really work for me. Can you what would be said about a girl doing this, the most charitable would be manipulative.

The last scene that Do-Hoe read on the laptop made me cry seriously. How cute and green Ju Yeong is
I like the argument about the bathroom , and the 'Christmas Kiss', when its not actually Christmas.

I expected it to be funny, but I didn't expect how poignant it would be.
There is something just intrinsically funny about about seeing a large man in unsuitable clothes. Only Jason Momoa can pull off the crochet cardigan.

I just liked it. I used to listen to the problems of that age group and its a time of life when everything seems huge, a mountain to climb with and every missed step a disaster, Then suddenly what you thought you wanted, or thought you needed gradually changes, so at first you do not notice.
There are not many dramas where you look at the characters and can see most of them as variations of your friends and neighbours. I also love the OST song, Pieces.
