I agree with those who commented before me as I also found this drama great in the first half and very repetitive in the second half. It is a real pity as the cast was good and the 'triangle' story had started out brilliantly and would have been very intriguing if it had been carried through until the end in the same way. Also I lost interest in the mistery story by last episodes. All in all the idea of mixing romance + mistery was good but was not developed properly until the end when the very repetitive romance triangle took the lead. The OST here was fantastic.
I hadn't rated a drama as high as this (9.5) for a long time and I am happy I could do so for this one as it litterally blew me away. This was one of many times in which a drama greatly surpassed my expectations. Even if the theme of a beauty contest might sound light and superficial, the story here was much deeper than expected. I really, really enjoyed how it was written and acted and how it dealt with many different issues like external appearance, serious economic problems, competition between businessmen, romance, friendship and so on. This is a truly amazing drama and I am so so glad I watched it. It's a real pity that it was underrated in comparison to other dramas that were aired in Korea at the same time period. I highly recommend it.
This drama reminded me a lot of the I Need Romance series and I understood it had the same writer. In fact the feeling of warmth and easygoing personalities was very much the same as in those dramas. The story itself wasn't particularly original and it it dragged a little in the middle however I appreciated everyone's acting and in particular Eric whom I had never seen before. Some parts were really funny and quirky especially those concerning the 'best friend couple'. On the whole a pleasant drama to watch but nothing to write home about.
I will be looking forward to this remake even if I absolutely loved the Japanese drama of Nodame. This is because I consider Joo Won a really good actor and I have the feeling they all must have put in a lot of effort and energy to make it a product which is just as good.
I had started watching this romcom with really low expectations and instead I was really pleasantly surprised by how warm, funny and captivating it turned out to be. It's not the first drama about romance between an older woman and a younger man but here the story was amazing mostly because of the incredibly gentle personality of the male character Dong Ha, played in an excellent manner by Park Seo Joon whom I had never seen before. During all of the 16 episodes I laughed and smiled at the different situations which always left me with a pleasant and warm feeling. I would have rated this with a 9 as I enjoyed it so much, but I had to take down half a mark because of the 'plastic' looking face of the female lead Uhm Jung Hwa which sometimes was really offputting for me. In any case this is a romcom that I highly recommend.
This was written by another poster on Soompi. Poster I123 stated the following and I agreed with her so much that…
I totally agree with what this poster wrote on Soompi...this is exactly what I thought and I could never have expressed it in such exact words. Thanks for posting this.
This was probably the worst drama I have ever seen. It glorified adultery and dumped on the wife until the very…
I totally agree with your review here Sweetiepea and I tried to hold on for a while hoping that it would improve but couldn't stand the plot any longer and dropped it at Ep. 13.
This was a good movie which reminded me a little of an American 1987 movie called Fatal Attraction. Of course the main reason I wanted to watch it was for Jang Hyuk (as I am still recovering from the FTL blues) and I wasn't disappointed as his acting was great as always. Unfortunately owing to the script I felt that his character was not so much in the spotlight here as much as the main female lead Jo Bo Ah's character, who did a really fantastic job in portraing the obsessed school girl. The 'explicit' scenes are minimal and very well inserted in the story therefore this aspect luckily is not the focus of this movie. All in all I enjoyed the ride and I will happily add this to my 'watched' Jang Hyuk's projects.
This was a very heartwarming family drama...I really enjoyed the dinamics between the members of the two families and to witness how gradually each of them grew to become more mature and at the same time attached to everyone else. The character that I liked most was the grandfather, but I have to say that by the end of the story I was fond of all the actors. I thought this drama represented the reality of families pretty well, although some aspects of their lifestyles, thoughts and behaviours were typically Korean. On the whole it made me laugh a lot and left me with lots of pleasant feelings which are important aspects that I look for in a drama.
Being a very sensitive and emotional person I tend to suffer a lot when watching dramas with such heavy going plots. I was not a fan of A Beautiful Mind for the same reason as I am not over-enthusiastic about this drama which is why I rated it with a 7; simply I didn't feel relaxed, happy or satisfied whilst watching it and these are the feelings that I mostly look for in a drama.
This is also why my favourite aspects of this drama were just the amazing cast and the beautiful OST (of which Cross My Mind has become my cell ringtone).
The two main leads were fantastic as always and had great chemistry, and I also absolutely loved the characters of Dong Min and Soo Kwang.
In any case I admit that this is a real original and deep story which deals with a very delicate subject. I hope to see all of these actors again in other projects soon.
I am neither of the three letters as for me it was an original drama with a heavy going plot. If it wasn't for the great cast, I am not sure I would have carried on watching it. ;)
Being a big fan of saeguk dramas I knew more or less what to expect from Joseon Gunman and wasn't disappointed. For me it was an interesting story mostly in the second half as it dealt with a historical event which I didn't know about. Certainly there was nothing spectacular or particularly original in this story but it was a good watch for me mainly for what concerned the switch from sword to gun fight although personally I prefer the former. LJK was as usual very good here even though I hope to see him in a different kind of role in his coming projects (maybe a romcom?). The OST reminded me a lot of the Princess Man one. I will never get tired or bored with saeguks therefore this was good for me.
This was an enjoyable lighthearted comedy which was pleasant to watch. There were moments that I didn't particularly appreciate in particular for what concerned the female lead whose attitude was a overly silly sometimes but in this type of comedy I suppose it was acceptable. I really liked some of the side characters here like Yeo Reum, Hoon Dong, Hyun Hee and also the grandmother (whom I loved in Coffee Prince) as they all contributed in making this rom-com enjoyable. I would not rewatch this as it didn't touch my feelings in any way, but I am glad I watched it mostly for Yun Woo Jin who was a good main lead and whom I expect to see in more challenging dramas soon.
I initially had decided not to watch this drama as I was expecting it to have too much slapstick type of comedy. However I am really thankful for all the positive reviews that I read and that made me want to watch it as it was a lovely surprise for me. Although there were moments in which situations were a little bizarre, I immediately loved both the main characters as they were totally opposite to each other and the credit goes to both Jang Hyuk and Jang Na Ra for representing such wonderful personalities. On the whole I really enjoyed this story which seemed lighthearted but had some very revealing moments especially for what concerned the feelings of the main leads. The OST here was also absolutely brilliant. Even though this drama is nothing too complicated or original I consider it to be the best drama of 2014 so far because it was perfect in many ways.
This was not bad but I need to watch it again with understandable subtitles as the ones available at the moment did not allow me to understand the plot too well. In any case I was expecting a little more out of this movie besides the very explicit scenes. I had never seen the leading actress before and she is truly beautiful.
This is also why my favourite aspects of this drama were just the amazing cast and the beautiful OST (of which Cross My Mind has become my cell ringtone).
