Ok, let's agree to disagree. I usually go by what the writers want us to see as it is their plot after all and it is them who created the character in the first place. He was certainly meant to have different shades of personality and not be simply 'black' or 'white' however in the end it is the final outcome of his behaviour which they wanted us to see that counts IMO. Happy drama watching! ;)

Mrs Lee...please remember that TJ would NOT have stopped in his foolishness and greediness if SH hadn't gone to the police to confess that the murder had been done by TJ. I personally can't see this as positive and most of all I don't see it as having principles...having principles doesn't make you stomp on other people like that. In my opinion none of the three main characters had principles as all of them hurt other people in order to get what they wanted. I believe that in this world it is possible to pay for one's sins also by repenting whilst living and not by killing oneself therefore TJ's decision was only out of pride and cowardness in my eyes. I am watching the female lead of GE in Queen Seon Duk and she is not bad at all although I agree she is not very expressive in her face. In any case she is very good at playing strong characters a little bit like Ha Ji Won.

I think the best decision you could make is to live in the present and I wish I could do so too but my mind keeps on wondering on to the future and the past. Yes The Chaser looks good from the first episode. I had a quiet weekend at home but was happy to see that it was nice and sunny outside with a lovely blue sky. Have a nice week.

Thanks Mrs Lee, no probs, I have already moved on to another drama with the same actor who was playing MJ which is The Chaser. However I never thought MJ was a good man or better than TJ, I just simply appreciated the way he put his pride aside at the end and just accepted his fate whereas TJ didn't. An example of this pride is not accepting SY's help in the end...what was wrong with starting his life again with a little help from her and forgetting about his revenge plan? And the lawyers that SH would have hired for him would not have been as powerful as those of SY of course. Yes SH chose to stay in prison because of her love for TJ however I am really glad that in the end SHE was the one to tell the truth about that murder in order to stop TJ from his foolishness of killing more innocent people. I hope to have more interesting debates about other dramas with you in the future.

The time that Seo Yoon wanted clearly to help TJ without any second aims was just before he killed himself when she offered to find for him the best lawyer for his defense, but he refused her help and went ahead and killed himself. I also wander how those two would have been as a couple and I was actually shipping for both of them to end up together as they were so clever and so well suited into the business world. As far as MJ goes I agree that he was worse than TJ in many ways especially as he backstabbed his own family so many times simply out of hate for his uncle...however I admired him a little more at the end of the drama simply for his choice to withstand emprisonment and pay for his crimes whereas TJ cowardly killed himself. Yes TJ was in any case a very twisted and complicated character and I truly admire the writers for their amazing talent in creating this drama. Thanks again.

thanks very much for your enlightening discussion. I do see all the 'good' sides of TJ that you mention although this doesn't make me like him or side with him as I believe his main dream was yes to be with Seul Hee, but not by leading a normal life like everyone else (as she suggested to stop with his fight many times and go and live far away together) but by being at the top of the Chois company. I agree with you that he wasn't really in love with SH but it seemed more like a sisterly affection. I don't totally agree with the fact that she volunteered consciously to go to jail for him as she was so confused in that moment (after the first and only passionate kiss that TJ gave her) that she admitted the crime without really knowing what she was doing and after that she just went along with the lie.

Hi Edinaa, I was glad to read that you are recovering well and I agree with you that life goes on and it is wise to find a way to enjoy it as much as possible. It is good that you are watching movies that you are enjoying. I am fine thanks and enjoying all the currently airing dramas as well as Queen Seon Duk. After finishing Empire of Gold I tried watching Queen of Housewives but I dropped it yesterday as the plot didn't appeal to me too much. This evening I should start The Chaser and I hope I enjoy it. Take care and have a nice Sunday.

Hi, yes I am enjoying it very much and I am glad that in the last two episodes there was a little less violence than in the first episodes. Are you liking it too?

Thanks for this review. I am also watching this drama and enjoying it because the story is beautiful and so is the directing, the costumes and the OST. Although I also appreciate the fighting scenes which are a fundamental part of the story I hope that with the new writers there won't be as much dwelling on them as there was in the first episodes. I am also sorry that Kim Jae Wook left the show as his character brought smiles and lightness to the story although I also was wondering how he would have fitted in the second part of the drama.

Hi Edinaa, I was very sorry to read about your bad news. I imagine it must have been a shock for you and all I can do is send you positive vibes from here. I can totally understand that you don't feel like doing anything for the moment so just take it easy on yourself and I hope you will find a way to come to terms with this situation. I am cheering for you...fighting!

In the end the decision to kill himself was HIS decision therefore I don't see why it has to be compared to mJ's fate who got the punishment he deserved and actually faced it by being braver than TJ who didn't go to prison. For what concerns Seo Yoon, again it is not her fault that she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her basic principles were good in any case, and yes she had to do some illegal stuff too to be able to survive to the attacks of MJ and TJ but she never killed anybody and did whatever possible to help her very greedy family. I also think that deep down she cared for TJ as she offered to help him also at the very last minute when he was going to jail...however TJ never saw her for more than her money's worth...thanks so, so much for this interesting discussion!!

SPOILER AHEAD: I have to say that I agree with most of what you say and as I stated before, in some moments I was actually fascinated by TJ's determination and the fact that he persevered notwithstanding all the difficulties he faced especially when people turned their back on him. I do understand all of his circumstances and what his goal was, however I wish that he had pulled back on his own at one point (when he decided to bomb the buildings the first time for example) realising that he was becoming worse than his enemies. The fact that he decided to end his life in the end did not surprise me because his pride had been badly hurt for not reaching the goal that he had fought for so long up to that point and evidently the love and support of his friends was not enough for him.

Hi Edinaa,
thanks for trying to invite me anyway. I am glad I found a good drama to suggest to you that you haven't seen yet. Last night I finished Golden Empire and rated it 9 as I really enjoyed it although it had a very unusual plot. I am fine thanks and I hope the same for you. Have a nice day. Take care.

What an amazing drama. I had never seen such a tough portrait about greed for power and money before and I have to say that it was a very interesting watch. I thought the plot was very well written with many twists and turns and everything achieved only with dialogues and strategies. It was one of the rare times in which I truly hated the main lead (and was happy with the ending) although also the other two leads were not particularly likeable. This proves that the acting here was truly brilliant. I understand now why some state that this was an underrated drama and I totally agree with them.

Hi Edinaa, I would certainly recommend Empire of Gold which I am watching now. It is a very twisted plot about a power struggle in a big Korean company and it is very well done as everyone keeps switching sides. There is not much of a love story but it is really worth seeing. I actually wish I had seen it sooner. I hope you have a nice Sunday. Take care.

Hi Edinaa, what great news about your ice skating. I am so pleased that you are enjoying it and it is so good to do any kind of sport in the open air. At the moment I am watching many on-air dramas like Empress Ki, You who came from the Stars, I Need Romance 3 and Inspiring Age. I am also slowly progressing with Queen Seon Duk and my evening drama at the moment is Empire of Gold and I am just over half way through the story and I am really enjoying it very much. It is a very interesting power struggle drama. Enjoy your Sunday and take care.
