Smart and reckless is his next idea but the payoff is good

I can't believe Ryan Ding is dubbed here. Although in a much earlier trailer, it was his voice. Ugh. He can pull off a commanding voice (you've heard him in Love You Seven Times) but this dubber (no offence to him specifically) is the one that Cheng Yi uses for most of his dramas and so when I hear his voice, I see Cheng Yi. It might have had to do with production time. This drama was filmed in record time of 3 months and was ready for airing in less than 6 - I would assume that to bring in Ryan Ding to dub over his lines would be difficult as he has been filming a new drama. But still, my heart..ears...

I am enjoying his 'chasing wife' tactics. See his grovel here and there, throw in his shameless. There is a wrinkle in their reunion with the current emperor...he will throw a wrench so it helps add to the drag a bit

I'm guessing at least till ep 30. There is a key moment for CXZ to happen and LMT takes care of him and even then, it doesn't roll right into her forgiving him but it should be shortly after.

Let the shameless CXZ era start! I love it when he comes out to defend LMT whenever he can. Anytime anyone bad mouths LMT, he gets so angry and defensive. Even when his sidekick said he dotted her too well that she now has a peculiar taste for food (CXZ sends him the death glare). Love it. I'm not surprised the storyline is going this way. I knew it from the start. There are classic tropes in this drama but it's not offputting.

As c-dramaland's easiest and quickest throne takeover, it is also the most least scheming plot for a new queen. One who didn't even covet it.

He was also very stingy with his money in Are You Safe and gave little staff benefits. haha

Mom was stripped of her title..usually goes to the 'cold' harem..for all of the unwanted consorts to live out their life. The kid generally wouldn't survive but they didn't specifically mention it.

Is there a release date? This daily promos are building up all this hype and it better be for good.

It doesn't help that she's surrounded by brown nosers and no trustworthy advisors

I was hesitant on starting this drama - mainly because I'm not a fan of WCR's acting (traumatized by her role with Yang Yang), But here, she is actually quite natural and I like her character. ZWY, nice to see him in a less than obsessed role. I can see this is getting to by the cliche drama of (ML hides big secret/identity and it will backfire one day, send ML to groveling after FL to beg for forgiveness, a period of separation and then rekindle their love. It's okay. I don't mind this trope when the sweet and fun moments are enjoyable.

This is like Cuan Xuan's next life (From Lost You Forever). There is a line he said in the trailer for Are You The One, that he wanted to be an ordinary man spending his life with her. Hope he does get it here.

Even better, he's not married yet but he is doing all things a husband would do (minus the sex) - brushing his 'wife''s hair, sharing the same bed. So unheard of in period dramas, haha.

The only thing good about this drama are the costumes and the pretty faces. I was wholly disappointed thinking that it has to have a decent storytelling seeing all the pre release trailers, the BTS photos and that it was 40 episodes, got to be enough and not feel rushed. Well, they spent the time on useless plot that didn't move the storyline, then they gleamed over key moments and now we are rushing to see YDZ turn to darkness and being the leader of the "Beyond Sky" which I still can't understand when he has no real connection with them. So sad. I just want it to end

Republican/40s war era dramas are hard to please the current viewership. You either like this era or you don't. Not to mention, there are so many of them that it blurs. I'm here mostly for Joseph Zeng as I find his character interesting to portray and is a marked departure from his other roles.

Which just tells me that they didn't pay good attention to the actual storytelling to merry up with TBOY. It's off putting.

You are not the only one. I am on episode 21 and I am bored as hell. The only thing I am watching for is Neo but it's a real struggle.
