I find it hilariously funny how I made a simple comment here not long ago, just expressing my opinion — and yet, I got blocked by another user. Ironically, that same person replied to me and edited their comment to attack me, but now I can’t respond at all 🤣 No worries though, I still get notifications of the replies 😊
I honestly don’t understand — since when is stating an opinion a bad thing? I didn’t insult anyone, I wasn’t rude, and I didn’t criticize anyone directly.
So yeah... there’s “nothing wrong with me.” 😌
Also, just to clarify: Shounen-ai and yaoi are still real and officially used terms — maybe not commonly in the West, but they’re still recognized. (surprised Pikachu face) You can look it up if you’re curious. So no, I’m not “inventing categories,” thank you very much 😃
Let’s just grow up, enjoy the show, and allow people to share their thoughts without jumping down their throats. It’s not that hard 😉
BL fans who care about how much kisses and make out/sex scenes are there, are super toxic, and yes, for many it's…
when it comes to BL, there are two main "genres": shounen-ai and yaoi. yaoi focuses on the physical intimacy between two men, while shounen-ai centers on their romantic feelings for each other. as a demi, I’ve always preferred the latter and never the former. I’ve tried to give yaoi a chance, but the way the characters are sexualized and the scenes being way too graphic—my religious self said, “Nope.”
Honestly, I find the whole "bromance vs. BL" discourse that pops up under almost every censored Chinese…
this! i wholeheartedly agree. i also prefer emotional bls to the ones filled with nsfw scenes but no proper plot. The Untamed, Word of Honor, and so many other "bromance" dramas China has produced over the years are so good and so much better than some dramas originally intended to be bl. not everything has to be sid out loud in order for the viewer to understand. plus this is a drama. if someone wants to enjoy it as a bromance, they have the free will to do so, and vice versa.
don't let the randomness of this drama scare you! everything happens for a reason, and the ending is phenomenal! the actors did a great job, and OMG what a truly powerful message
That wedding scene really had me on the edge. The music and the editing while everyone opened you know what I'm…
i wholeheartedly agree! the editing is so-so good~
i felt the same way a few episodes back when the fl's mum and the fl were sitting on the bench in school, and Ming Sheng approached wearing those shoes. Qingyu got extremely anxious and stressed, just like me.
The scenes with the parents are so hard to watch for me, i'm seeing my own mother and father in most of them.…
you said it so well! she's a complex character for sure. it's obvious that she loves her children, and as a woman in a patriarchal society with a spineless, good-for-nothing husband she has it even harder.
i've also noticed a detail. Qiao Jinyu (FL's brother) resembles his father a lot. he doesn't like to confront people, prefers peace over truth and morale, and is awful at standing up for the right cause. he's not a bad person, ofc, but you can see the impact of a spineless father figure left on him.
I really loved The First Frost, and Reborn gives off a similar vibe. The cinematography feels nostalgic, full of earthy tones and soft sunlight. Both dramas deal with healing, facing past wounds, and finding real love. Reborn, however, puts more focus on the tragedy that hit the family, while The First Frost centers more on the relationship between the main leads.
The script is well-written, and the actors deliver phenomenal performances. The atmosphere is melancholic and dark, just like in The First Frost. Many details are subtle or left unsaid, so you need to pay close attention.
So far, there’s no unnecessary dragging or filler scenes. Everything seems to have a purpose, and the characters feel real—not just good or bad. Also, no annoying side couple, which is a plus.
Both female leads have tragic backstories and are misunderstood by those around them. They’re quiet, reserved, and flawed, but they have a strong sense of right and wrong. They do rely on the male leads from time to time, but they’re definitely a damsel-in-distress.
he's true representation of a narcissist and they tend to have very strong values (good or bad ones). he treats…
exactly! i agree with everything you said. he's a very complex character, and that makes him a great villain. he's not evil just for the plot. he has plans, motives, weaknesses, and strength. the perfect enemy for Zang Hai if u ask me~ Plus, his character makes totally sense for someone in his position. he has faced countless battles and shed the blood of many. of course, killing the Kuai Duo family is not a big deal for him.
character writing is definitely on another level in this drama!

So no, it’s not hypocritical. 😄

the editors deserve much more praise! ^^
thankfully, the filter is not too much either and there's only a little skin whitening 🙇🏼♀️

You should have a try! :D
