Bai Lu's character is a contemporary writer and narrates a book about Jiang Xue Ning, a woman who reflects on her past mistakes and is given a second chance to set things right. In the novel there is no such trope though.

I do not know much about Zhai Xiao Wen, but I am confident Zhang Ling He will be great in this drama if the director and script allow him to. In his latest drama, 'Story of Kunning Palace,' he plays a morally grey and devious, yet emotionally hurt male lead, and he does not fail to deliver, so I am pretty positive about him playing Hua Cheng.
