The group of heroes are pulled into another tomb-raiding expedition that takes them beneath the sea. In an ancient Ming Dynasty ship, they encounter monstrous creatures and puzzling traps.

Wu Xie opens the box that he obtained from the Seven Star Coffins of Lu Wang's Palace to discover a snake-bowed copper fish. Wu Sansheng recounts the strange occurrences over ten years ago when they went on an archaeological expedition to Paracel Islands. Wu Xie leads a team down to the same place to explore a sunken ship where hidden dangers await.

The Lost Tomb 2 is a continuation of the tomb raiding adventure Chinese drama released in 2015 The Lost Tomb. The story of The Lost Tomb 2 loosely follows the story of The Lost Tomb with an entirely different cast. The Lost Tomb 2 is about Wuxie's tomb raiding adventures, the uncovering of the mystery behind the artifact found in the tomb from The Lost Tomb, and the uncovering of the mystery behind the disappearance of the archaeological team that his uncle was in. In this drama, you find out a bit more about the tombs mystery and about the mysterious character of Zhang Qilin. The cast in this drama was good at portraying their characters. The soundtrack fit the drama very well. The ending was a bit confusing and ended in a cliffhanger so I hope that it's explained in the next installment. Overall, I would recommend this drama to anyone who is searching for an adventure drama with some elements of horror. I would recommend that you watch The Lost Tomb and Mystic Nine first so you can better understand The Lost Tomb 2.

Few points just to highlight :
In the beginning episode 1, no doubt it's super thrilling, especially it all starts from the storm at the sea, the mysterious ghost ship and the creepy sea monster. It managed to get audience chase the episodes after and after several episodes on, even it gets better until they discovered and went into the sea tomb. Personally I've never heard of an “ancient sea tomb”, that was the reason after I'd watched the trailer it shown this whole story was about sea tomb I then decided this is gonna be a must watch for me.
But shortly after several episodes about the sea tomb, the subject just shut down as the casts all went back to their cities. And basically, that's all about it, no more further stories about sea tomb. Then I guess the producers and the screen writter must be thinking hard how to continue the story. But it turn out to be a slightly lousier as they set the next location at either is Myanmar or Cambodia for the illegal auction.
This part I find it was too over act, as in too exascerate. Especially when set at Myanmar or Cambodia, where the hell can you find a Meserati ?? I guess the producers are either have not been to Myanmar or Cambodia, or either the imagination over rated. For heaven's sake, countries like Myanmar or Cambodia are totally third world's countries and people living there are damp in poverty. Besides the Maserati, other vehicles like Range Roover or the Audi I probably can say there can be a maybe, perhaps the super rich of the country or some minister's car, but dude, a Maserati ?? So out of its place.
Since after the Myanmar or Cambodia scenes, the story got lousy and lousier little by little. Especially when they went on the hunt for the copper tree's grave, this part onwards, they just wasted a lot of time by dragging to make the whole drama longer. A lots of unnecessary parts are like wasting too much of time on climbing the damp copper tree with all the craps and later part just to discover a body of an assistant of a Duke of Northern Wei. And that part too was a pure waste of time, as a dead person who lived thousands of years ago suddenly awaken and just to have a fight with Zhang Qi Ling (Xiao Ge), then just gone dead after realized he awaken after thousands of years later, without even saying anything much or useful information.
It really get audience watching with frustration, every case just an opening but without a proper conclusions. But I still bare with the story and continue going on, next is they went on another hunt for the tomb of Chu, this time it just clouded the audience's concentration with adding on at least 7 parties of people involved in. Again, it's another opening of story without conclusion. Especially the part brought back to some easily 70 years ago's incidents, during the revolution timing of China. And it mysteriously shown some background stories suspected is about the identity of Zhang Qi Ling (Xiao Ge), but yet making it more confused without a proper answers for the story.
And the confusions going on more worst by just simply seems like squeezing in the last part of the story for this whole drama, by simply adding in or more like cut and pasted from another drama's story - Eagles And Youngsters' part.
The confusion started when Wu Xie suddenly awake and rise up from the snow, this part it really seems like Wu Xie had just come from a teleport from the previous tomb's scene after the tomb had collapsed. It really make no sense how or what just happened. Like I'd said, the producers knew they are running out of time and a conclusion for this drama, so just suddenly simply just add in the last part by happening at the snow mountain by coping from Eagles And Youngsters's story.
And yet also leads to no conclusion by seducing audience to watch the next season - The Lost Tomb 3.
Only thing in this whole drama, there are a few casts came in and make this whole drama sort of related to Eagles And Youngsters(Jin Yang - and his elder sister that later she disappeared into the snow mountains), Sea Of Tomb (Hei Xia Zi / the guy that wears a black sunglasses)and Mystic Nine (4th A Kong / 4th Grand Father - this character appeared in Mystic Nine as Er Yue Hong / Er Yeh / 2nd Master's apprentice - Chen Pi, that later Chen Pi killed the previous 4th Master and himself replaced as the 4th Master). These few points are the only connections that related to a few other drama's stories. In fact, if we're to compare, I think (after I had watched all - The Mystic Nine, Eagles And Youngsters, Sea Of Tomb), this The Lost Tomb 2 is just deserve only 6.5 ratings, The Mystic Nine, Sea Of Tomb and Eagles And Youngsters easily are better productions and better stories with a proper conclusions.
