Short answer to is this drama really good : YES

Now for the more objective answer : This doesn't have that same complicated 'saga' as Eternal Love or Ashes of Love. The story here is much simpler and easy to follow. I do think this is one of the best introductory drama for those who are not familiar with Xianxia. However, even though the story is much simpler compared to other xianxia, it is beautifully executed and emotionally charged. Because there are also less characters, you'll see more focus on ML and FL development. The events and action here are also more logical compared to other fantasy dramas. The characters are consistent, the flow is very smooth, there is no love at first sight or grand gestures, the way they fell in love is very natural. DongFang QingCang ironically also reminds me of Yehua, though they are the polar opposite on morals, their actions towards their beloved is steadfast and admirable.

I didn't like you in Meteor Garden, I actually thought the franchise gave you fame before you even deserve it. But seeing you now in LBFaD, wow, what a glow up! You did justice to the role, very well done. It's real skill to project that commanding aura without looking like you're trying too hard., plus the emotional scenes are also beautifully done. Moon Supreme will go down as one of my most favorite characters. Looking forward to your future works.

I think people who say this are not use to Xianxia dramas. They equate physical death to real death and not used to the concept of souls/spirits.
Why do people keep forgetting that it was mentioned in first episode that DFQC is basically indestructible? They could not completely obliterate his spirit that's why the best they could do is lock it in the Haotian tower. So technically he is also dead for 30000 if we just talk about physical form. As long as even a wisp of his spirit remain, he can be back.
When XLH saw that orchid bone floating (as in previous ep he mentioned he made it with his primordial spirit), it's obvious she knew he will be back, it's only a matter of time of how much cultivation needed to regain physical form again.
This is probably also the reason why the ending is not dramatic, XLH is not surprised at all, it's because she was just waiting.

Orchid was nurturing/cultivating his spirit during those years, sooner or later he will manifest again in physical form. I think Orchid is fully confident he will be back.

With these dramas, you can be 'dead' but never truly dead. Especially given that DFQC is born a supreme immortal and they pointed out repeatedly in the first episodes that he's basically indestructible, therefore they could not completely kill him and the best they could do is imprison his primordial spirit in the Haotian tower. Technically, he is also dead without a form for 30,000 year.
The way I understand the logic in these lore is that all beings have souls, the 'real you' is your soul/spirit rather than a physical manifestation. Like how a mortal can 'cultivate' in hopes of becoming an immortal , spirits born without human form (as plant, dragon etc) can also cultivate to manifest in human forms.
So physical death is not the end, as long as even a wisp of your spirit remains and it can be cultivated/nurtured, they can manifest again into physical form.
Same as how DFQC nurtured Orchid as a seed, a wisp of DFQC spirit is also in that orchid bone, it's only a matter of how much 'cultivating/nurturing/acquiring energy' is needed and DFQC's conscious desire to manifest again. In this case, it took them 500 years.
So yeah, it's a happy ending. forget about this dream theory:)
The only negative thing about it is it is so abrupt, and the 'I'm back' line is a bit lame.

I hope it blows up in China and they get pressured to release an epilogue. Although, realistically if this was never planned to begin with, and the production/filming already closed, it's gonna come with a lot cost to shoot some more, so chances are slim.

I did saw in one IQiyi tiktok wherein Dylan is playing a game of this and that, one of the questions is prequel vs season 2, he chose season 2 haha
China loves capitalising on hits, so chances of season 2 although low is never zero. However, this is based on a novel so if they had followed it thru, don't know how much they could expand.
So epilogue is really what I also wish for. I would be grateful even with just the translated version of the novel epilogue, I'll just picture them in my head.

Well, it is all a matter of personal taste. I see some people who enjoys Immortal Samsara between these three, but for me that is the one I can't get into at the moment (although I really like ChengYi and Yang Zi).

I see, I respect your opinion, it really is a matter of taste :) Yes, DFQC is not the villain as in evil villain , but there is just something about the way his character was written that is really captivating audience.
For me the ranking was not only because of LBY and DFQC but the overall aspect. My main criticism for LLTG is how part 2 was edited therefore I may have deducted some points, LBFaD in terms of story is not as epic/complex as TMOPB or AoL, but they have nailed the scriptwriting, CGI, wardrobe etc. Maybe it was because I anticipated LLTG alot and raved about it that each little flaws was magnified, whereas LBFaD is not even in my initial watchlist and it ended up being something I enjoy. All in all, both are great shows!
And yes, I totally agree with your assessment with LBY, I mentioned the same thing in my review, this is anyhow in a modern setting so he's character is really more realistic. I love how despite his declaration of love, it did not give that vibe that love will heal everything and he will just let go of his revenge.
