I wasn't saying guys overworking was a good thing. I said that was the coping mechanism portrayed in most dramas. Of course it's a bad thing - the entire drama usually focuses on how the FL makes them realize that there's more to life than work and money.
Another thing - we can't expect every drama to have all kinds of characters. In the case of Seryeon - this isn't about which gender likes rich people. The men in her life wanted to aquire her wealth and gain an advantage in YG's company. A woman running after a rich man(case in point - Sara) isn't looking to aquire YG's wealth or make profits for her company. Once she marries him, she's just looking to benefit off his wealth and status without working for it. Yes, YG inherited money and the company. But he also inherited the responsibilities and CEO position that came with it. He's working to keep the money and manage the company. I haven't seen Seryeon working much - if she had the time to work at DD's family restaurant and there were no repurcussions when her mom locked her in a room for a long time, it means she doesn't work much. She isn't a career oriented person, unlike the women portrayed in dramas like Search WWW. Seryeon with money is a business strategy to the men who tried to marry her. YG with money is a never-ending free flow of money to Sara, WDR, and Sara's mom.
After Seryeon gave up her shares, the men lost the business asset. Why did that jackass' grip loosen when she told him she had given up her shares, since she's still a daughter of a rich family? Because he lost the chance to gain an advantage in FT Group. If he marries her now, she's still a wealthy woman but there's no point taking her money - he has enough. Why is WDR against Dae Bom but not the rich guys? Because she - and everyone else - saw him as a parasite, since he didn't have a job. There are lots of women CEOs/ women with careers they built in dramaland. Having them give up their companies/careers just to run after men, in most cases, would be stupid and irresponsible.

It IS hard to trust people when you know they could be looking for the money that comes with you without really caring about you as a person. I'm sure that if SR asked YG to give her half the company, he would. Just because she gave up her shares doesn't mean she can't buy more. I like the way YG remains a brother and doesn't try to be her father's He let's her decide things in her own. Heck, he let's her have her way with her mother even though she's a pain in his neck.
As for the gender thing, aren't there a lot of stories with things going different ways? Most of the MLs choose to shut themselves off and focus only on work, living in distrust of people. SR seems to want a relationship, so she still keeps herself open. There ARE a lot of stories about rich guys giving up their rights/money/status that comes with being born in a rich family for love. Examples? Emergency Couple, Because of Love, 18 Again(he wasn't exactly rich but the family was well off - he chose to cut off contact with his father who disapproved of him dropping out of high school to marry and take care of his pregnant girlfriend - in the end, his wife is able to rebuild her dream career while he chooses to give his old dreams up), Suspicious Partner(ML chooses to let his career and status get destroyed for justice' sake - he has to start all over again from scratch)...
I think things also stem from the fact that women usually expect their ideal men to be rich and successful, while it's not always the case with the genders reversed. Isn't that why the poor girl-rich guy trope is so popular?

Even when he didn't know what happened, he fought Sun Zhijun for mistreating her right in front of all the patients in the lobby and pleaded with the doctors in favor of Pingping, never stopping to think about his reputation for one second. He isn't even nice to his father - hasn't visited him after he found out. Even when he didn't know why TJ left him, he had an inkling that his dad was involved and stopped talking to him. After the dad managed to get rid of TJ, NYS never obeyed any of his wishes - he went on to become a doctor and he already said he wants nothing to do with his father's business. After he found out his dad is the villain here, he's been investigating the case. He's given her the keys to his house and takes care of her as much as he can. He will literally do anything for her if she asks.

I KNOW! What drives me over the edge is the fact that she kisses him back and reciprocates whenever he initiates something, but then she pushes him away and says she doesn't love him or whatever. I can't imagine how bewildered. confused and insane I would get if someone acted like that towards me! The poor guy really didn't do anything and it hurts to watch.
