Watched a little of it without subs... the younger profiler ML seems to be a better actor than the older detective. He brings his character alive, while the older guy seems to be stuck with a very limited range of emotions. I hope everything smooths out, because the setting is intriguing.
Ive not watched it yet but just based on the plot summary above, how does marrying someone you dont love equals…
Okay you made me watch the whole thing again...
She agrees to marry him because she's lonely and carries a lot of pain in her heart and he sees her as she is, not as the world looks at her. So she falls for him quickly while he's just doing this to protect them both from death.
He gradually falls for her from the first few eps but doesn't really realize it... From Ep 8-9 he is completely irreversibly cheesily crazily in love with her... goodness his lovey-dovey eyes every time he looks at her

No, no no... you got the plot all wrong. Basically, the ML is able to travel to the future. He can't pass a certain date, and then he finds out that date is the day he dies in an accident. So of course he gets scared and looks for ways to alter his future. The FL is also involved in that future accident and dies there.
The basic rule here is that a birth or death/collision of two different destinies can change a person's future. ML's mentor(who also time travels) tells him to marry FL and have a child(a birth) so that both ML and FL can escape their deaths on that future day. Thus, ML tries to convince FL to marry him. Don't exactly remember why FL agrees but she's a person who lives in the present and is also pretty disillusioned with the world, so she doesn't mind marrying a stranger. I think she falls for him or something.
This is the whole plot set-up for the drama. The underlying themes are about living in the present and what happens when two people marry too fast with their own different expectations. It's not a push and pull or a hate to love... both want to make the relationship work but they struggle with their own expectations and weaknesses.
it's soooooo hilariously tropey that it's healing my heart... didn't realize how much I missed all this pure fun nonsensical outrageous fluff also I AM IN LOVE WITH THE SML like wth how can anyone be so perfect π₯°π₯°
Right!?? It made me so sad too! I was hoping for a reunion, like a fool, even till that elevator scene, I though…
Thanks for telling me... i am NOT watching the extended version for the sake of my sanity π
Kang Ha Neul's character was the type you would pity at first but then fall jn love with and want to marry lol he was soooo cute with the whole morning call arc

Ikr i was hoping against hope even after the wedding... i was just crazily clinging on to some sort of twist from the writer π And it would have been okay if her arc ended with a one sided crush... but when he said he had liked her too I BROKE. Just sobbed and sobbed through the rest of the movie no matter what fun things they did - until Kang Ha Neul's attempted suicide lol that stopped the tears for a while
ngl I cried and cried and didn't stop crying over Han Jimin's arc because it was so relatable Other than that, it is literally the PERFECT end-of-the-year movie
Let's hope for the fast review from NRTA... Don't they look romantic? Just by watching the trailer seems their…
Ashes of Love and Love and Destiny are my absolute most favorite xianxia dramas EVER! this is like such a dream come true... they BETTER have a happy ending lol
True ! You don't get to see toxic relationships in historical drama!Thank you for reading!
I wouldnt call it toxic because that was the way things were in that era and i tend to immerse myself in the time period of dramas while watching. The beautiful thing about these dramas is that they work around all the stupid restrictions and prejudices of the era and manage to produce a sweet story. And the more poor or property-like the FL is treated, the more outrageously boisterous/intelligent she usually is.
And the romance itself isnt usually toxic. As stated in the article, the ML and FL either like and pursue each other or just focus on work/dont like anyone else because there's already too much drama and they're constantly trying not to die.
Except for the last two points (DONT GIVE ME SADISTIC PLOTS OR BITTERSWEET ENDINGS!) I agree with this lovely article. Id also like to add that modern drama leads dont walk around in those beautiful swooshy silk clothes and theyre also less likely to have cool powers and titles(xianxia, im looking with heart-eyes at YOU). I think the restrictions imposed on them make good, realistic plot devices for character growth. I feel like modern dramas keep resorting to dumb plot devices like breakups for no reason or random one dimensional SMLs to spice things up because there's hardly anything restricting romance in our times. Historical drama leads have to overcome family wars, powerful dumbass emperors/kings, evil plotting ministers, dark dungeons, gangs of thieves, sadistic trials, weird rules and all sorts of other stuff that makes them sacrifice their eyes, hearts, core power, aeons of cultivation, positions of power... all that good stuff. Sacrifice for another gets a whole new meaning in those dramas.

Edit: the entire page looks so gloomy and depressing, even with a depression tag... guess I'll just wait for this one
