I'm also a little surprised at the amount of hate DOTS is getting in this comment section. I've watched it twice, and though some situations are unbelievable, it still was a good, funny, romantic watch.
Maybe it's because DOTS was one of my first dramas... I enjoyed it thoroughly and fell head over heels for Song Joong Ki 😂.

I thought everybody knows Because this is My First Life! Every list and person I turned to for reccs seemed to recommend that one to me but I dropped it after a few eps.

I also agree. The drama earned points for me only with the OST and cinematography. I dropped it after Ep 7 because there's only so much you can endure just for good cinematography.

i was out the moment the drama over-hyped the ML... all I remember from that drama was that everyone looked like porcelain and the storyline was boring and then I dropped it halfway.

There are lots of people who would disagree with you on IOTNBO and I'm one of them. I honestly think IOTNBO and Love O2O are way too overrated. Dropped both because they became so boring/annoying.
And Secretary Kim wasn't the best office drama I've seen. Yes, it's a classic, but I still think it's overrated. This is just my opinion :)

I did, too, but I was hoping against hope that Simei would be spared... she's a quirky sweetheart and I can't help but love her.

He seems to have that older-sibling complex where he refuses to listen to anyone's advice but his siblings HAVE to listen to him.

Just keep in mind that childhood difficulties like this ALWAYS manifest their problems when the character gets older. Yes, the drama is realistic, so it shows that.

I'm not sure whether the baby is Qiqi's... someone else here speculated it but I didn't see anything like that when I watched it. But I do know that I'm really hoping it isn't his kid. Qiqi is a child himself!

Yes, yes, I do think the writer has male angst. It feels like a very twisted feminist story sometimes. Every man here is a complete pushover of either his wife or his mother... and the amount of jump-kisses we've had to see 🙄
Other than Yicheng's friend, every single male is a lozapalooza(and yes, I like the word. It's the only way to describe them). Lingzi's mom was nice but her sidekick mom is NASTY. Poor Qiqi is completely traumatized... I wanted to slap Lingzi's insolent smiling face at the wedding.

Also WHAT was that conversation Erqiang had with his MIL??!! That he should beat or scold her or something... I sat there completely shocked and confused. I didn't even want to understand what was going on.

I haven't let go of Sanli-Yiding because they do have a very adorable romance. I think I'm more tolerant of MILs because I'm Asian so I've seen a lot of real-life ones, too. What saves this plot-arc from total destruction is that MIL is terrible to Yiding, too. MILs who side with their sons are just NASTY. And Yiding doesn't take his mom's side much, either. He also knows that his mom is mistreating Sanli and he's trying to change their situation. He stayed with his wife the whole time she was in the hospital, not with his mom. Even when she was going through tests, he was (very adorably) reading pregnancy info in the waiting room, not trying to shuttle between his mom and wife. There are so many jackasses in this world who take their mom's side and keep nagging at their wives to change or adapt or say stupid stuff like "You're strong enough to take care of yourself, my mom isn't."

Simei-Chenggang... I finished Ep 21 and I still don't feel that he even likes her. Him coming to her house first is so suspicious to me, and he also seemed to be avoiding Yicheng's questions. And Jiamin yelled at his wife for no reason at all -_- The writers didn't spare his relationship either.

IKR!!! I was annoyed at Yiding because of the whole MIL thing and I was frustrated with the entire drama in general, but that olive oil scene completely melted me, they are SO FREAKING CUTE! 🥰🥰 It was so so sweeeeeet!! I love it when Sanli and Yiding are smiling!

I loved all those pre-dating and during-breakup scenes where Yiding made sure Sanli got home safely, too. They're pretty much the whole reason I keep pushing through with this drama.

Three trash mothers plus one insensitive step-mother. (Xiaolang, Yiding and Xiaomo's moms + Second Auntie)
Three children about to be born. (Xiaomo's, Sanli's, Qiqi's)
Three boys with terrible taste in women. (Yicheng, Erqiang, Qiqi)
Two heartless mother-in-laws. (Sanli and Xiaolang's)
Two trash fathers. (Xiaolang's and Yicheng's)
Two weird long-distance relationships. (Simei-Chenggang and Yicheng-Xiaolang)
Two weird huge-age-gap relationships. (Erqiang-Master Ma and Xiaomo-Director Chen)
Two aborted children. (Yicheng-Xiaolang's and Xiaomo's first kid)
One death. (Weimin's dad)
One affair. (Xiaomo-Director Chen)
One underage wedding. (Qiqi's)

I'd say Sanli is on her way to a happy ending... other than the mother in law they're happy as a couple. All they have to do is move away from her.

I keep giving Yiding chances because the two of them are so freaking ADORABLE together 😂 I hope they move out FAST.

Of course the son doesn't like Erqiang, but Erqiang's relationship is heading south anyway. I just can't believe his wife is having an ongoing affair!! I really thought she was a nice character 😑 Neither of them are giving their all to this marriage so I guess we're going to have to watch it go down the drain. Wonder what will happen to the child.

I want to smash my head through a wall with all that's happening to Qiqi. He shares his brother's terrible taste in women. And it's so weird to see him all terrified and traumatized while the girl looks like she's having the time of her life at the wedding. I think Qiqi isn't mentally okay either because he seems to have grown up knowing he was an outsider in his aunt's family. I can't believe how heartless the aunt is.... she's practically raised him since he was a baby but she dumps his problems into Yicheng's hands as soon as things get tough.

I am soooooo tired of all the drama and Simei's soldier boy looks sketchy. I wonder why he's back and why he didn't go to his own house. The writers are being as stingy as the dad with light, happy scenes! They are scattered so few and far-between!

btw it's fun discussing things with you all^^ I've never watched and discussed an on-air drama like this before 😅🥰

Usually it's the guys who don't care and the girls who take the beating but this is such a U-turn 🙄 Qiqi looks terrified and traumatized while that girl's just laughing everywhere. I legit thought she was going to eat him in Episode 20. Orders him around and then tries to eat him. And of course Qiqi is as spineless as his brothers.

Episode 23 hasn't been subbed yet on Viki and we get two subbed episodes a day, so I'll be able to answer you tomorrow^^
