Tbh I'm enjoying this, loving TXW and how great she is portraying feline characteristics even in human form. This…
in the drama, their identities became known to each other, there was plague god approaching Chang'an. Cat Lord went to fight it but Snake Lord was away, it was too much for Cat Lord, and Taoist Master Frost ran to find Mei Zhuyu for help, at first Mei Zhuyu declined to get involve because the Demon market was the jurisdiction of Cat Lord, but when the person said it was really serious, so he went with him. When he got there, he realized it was Wu Zhen who had fallen to the ground injured, he put on a powerful display and wiped out the plague god. Wu Zhen realized Mei Zhuyu is powerful Taoist, At the same time, Mei Zhuyu had learned from Taoist Frost that Wu Zhen was his friend, so he connected the dots and knew she was Cat Lord.
Also, interestingly, Mei Zhuyu jumped down from the tower gate and didn't injure his leg. "He picked up Wu Zhen, and the moment he jumped off the city tower, Wu Zhen heard him say: "Your identity has always been one in my heart, and the others are ...... None of them matter."
I really adore the 4th master, Mei Si. His character so far is really nice, and he seems to like to know more…
yes, he was spirited and adorable personality in the novel but much younger, I think 17 yrs old, here in the drama he must be at least 25 yr old, since he calls Mei Zhuyu "Little Zhuyu." The actor did a great job. yes, in the novel, he was fascinated by demons and spirits and didn't know if they really existed. I enjoy his interaction with that snake.
In Episode 1, I really think Mei Zhuyu was utterly bedazzled by Wu Zhen’s beauty, gazing up at her as she stood tall by the open window.
It makes sense, Mei Zhuyu didn't want to land properly when he jumped down from the gate to expose his powers. Rewatching Ep. 1, I can see he tries to avoid using his powers in front of people.
Actually, Xu Kai though portraying calm and still almost emotionless Mei Zhuyu, still, his face, eyes, and body language speaks volumes.
I'm rewatching from Ep 1 on properly and it's amazing how much details you missed.
Is the impending clash between Mei Zhuyu and Wu Zhen a rebirth of the Great Fire that "fell into decline and seclusion?" Is Mei Zhuyu the current Celestial master of the Changxi Palace and we know Wu Zhen is the current Cat Lord. of the Demon Underworld. Both of them were rescued as children in the Great Fire 18 yrs ago, she was 6 and he was 4, one rescued by the former Celestial master and the other by former Cat Lord. Mei Zhuyu has been taught all demons are evil and should be eradicated, they told him demons caused the Great file that killed his parents but these two fallen in love, how do they navigate love and duty when they are sworn enemies? Will Mei Zhuyu uncover more truths about Changix Palace that turns him against them, and he ally with Cat Lord?
100% agree, also the director from this did 'the double' also, so he knows what he's doing, its all beautifully…
I saw a short bio on him in Douban I can't find it anymore. He's the son of a very famous screenwriter, director and producer who was dubbed 'Godfather' of Chinese films of his time. He grew up extremely wealthy, and you can see he acted in some dramas and started to direct but he almost lost his life over decade ago when he stupidly sunbathes for so long, possibly fell asleep and had severe burns that it caused him great injury. He fell into depression, and I think even attempted suicide. He comes from wealthy family doesn't really have to work, that might explain his hiatus for past decade. His Go Princess Go was a super low budget drama, so I don't really count that one. I'd say The Double is really his first decent budget work that is serious one Moonlit Reunion is his second. Now when he took up Moonlit Reunion as soon as The Double finished wrapping no one knew the results until after it aired that it would be a huge hit. After the Double you can see that he has back-to-back projects and I noticed he's producing a new project next year, not direct but producer. I'm sure he's education is broader than most directors due to his upbringing and wealth. He definitely has a very distinctive artistic style and I'm sure his future works will showcase more of his creativity as that seems to be his strong points his creative and artistic flair you can see i in The Double and Moonlit Reunion unless you're just fast forwarding each episode in 5 min like some do so they can unfairly criticize it.
This director is really into creepy things (it's been pretty light here for him) and sadistic themes too and my instincts is that he'll try to build some form of sadism in later stages of Moonlit Reunion but have to wait to see to what degree. I read someone thinks it'll be a mix of sweet sadism, emotional cruelty wrapped in tenderness, its' all speculation though.
In the novel there was no big villain, novel's central plot was a lot different, novel was more like a slice of…
in the novel, they had a feud in the past but got over it and the story unfolds with them working closely together supporting each other as protectors of the demon city or whatever the drama calls it. in the novel, Mei Si continues to think Snake Lord is her enemy so even though he likes her, he stays away from her, but eventually, he wants to marry her (something like that) and Cat Lord tells him they are no longer enemies.
Yeah they are related.....I think they are siblings(not sure)
in the novel, they're not siblings. I don't think so either in the drama. In the novel, Snake Lord is half human and half demon but born into it, her mother was the former Snake Lord and her father was human Censor Liu working in imperial ministries. I think the drama; she could be full demon. I need to go back and check. sometimes I forget to read subtitles. As for Cat Lord, she born fullly human, both human parents, but she was caught in a great fire and not going to make it so the former Cat Lord made her a deal she had to take over as Cat Lord and he transferred his cat spirit to her, I guess. in the novel it said he swallowed then she shows up at her own funeral in human form, which is also how they showed it in the drama.
This drama page has so many problems. So much rudeness.Other pages people are polite and have decent and fun conversations,…
if you are a xu kai fan, this is very normal. I go to other drama comments and even though those fans complain, they have no idea how tamed their pages are. To be a xu kai fan means you need thick skin
Can normal humans see the unnatural/demons/magic? Or not? So far I like the plot.
humans cannot so that's what so peculiar about Mei Zhuyu. In the novel, it never expained why, only that he can, but maybe in this drama, it will build into the plot?
The mystery of Mei Zhuyu and Wu Zhen has not unfolded yet because once we know, the story can come to closure.
yep, that's what they said about Xu Kai in BCE, and he went on to win two separate awards, one for outstanding actor and the other for creative and quality award
Xu Kai eyelashes are so long and lush
