MCH has the money and power over him, and he is left with nothing. But then I was thinking maybe not that drastic since the drama is not about the ml, that would be too drastic of a plot for him. So far, he's only been a side character. Everything revolves around the fl and her family relations, esp. the parents. So then, I' no longer sure what is the purpose of having YZM in this drama?

Both she and her husband were born poor in rural China and have no skills. She wants her daughter to marry, have children and not live a life with no money. It's like what the fl, MCH said to the ml, YZM, love does not pay the bills, only money can pay the bills, so I want to work, I want to make money. However, this mother is not a bad person. Even if the bf is not rich, but if he is responsible, hardworking, and can earn a good living, provide for her daughter, a house, car, etc. that was all that the mother wanted. But the bf loves her daughter and happens to be very rich. People where she came from and her generation are practical about survival and taking care of the family. Adult children are expected to help parents. A daughter who is desirable can marry well and provide for the family.

I'm guessing based on their conversation in Ep. 1, that YZM is indebted to her because she saved him in his darkest moment whatever that was.
If YZM cannot get the hotel, he cannot pay her back, but why would Zhang come after him? and what about Zhang's daughter, wasn't that lady named Zhang working in property management Zhang's daughter? but YZM never talked to her, so I was confused.

yes, my guess is that he will not get his promotion with Yueda group and resign, and help MCH manage her hotel, although that is a step down from the power he could have had in a big multinational corporation if he can climb to the top. My guess is that grandma will give her hotel and villa and whatever else, all the inheritance will go to MCH. Grandma knows if she give him all the inheritance, he will continue to seek power instead of more meaningful things in life, and maybe before she goes, she will witness that there is a future for her two favorite people , MCH and YZM, and that let MCH own everything and marry YZM.

I just wonder once the inheritance is settled, what will the plot be? Will it be YZM 's turn to go through struggles? But this drama supposed to be about MCH and her mother, so not sure how YZM will fit in
