Morino Hotaru [ = Fireflyy] is a second year high school student who has had an unrequited crush on Otaka Ren since junior high school. One day, while on a school trip with Ren and her good friend Yamamoto Shiori, their bus gets into an accident. When Hotaru wakes up, a young man who is dressed fully in black appears in front of her. He is Kuro [ = Black guide of dead], a grim reaper. A shocked Hotaru shoves him away but he has shocking words for her, “I’m your guide. Morino Hotaru, listen carefully. You’re dead.” Hotaru learns that if she does not get over her attachment to three things within 49 days, she will end up becoming a ghost bound to a specific physical location and cannot rest in peace. She had slept for one month after the accident and has only 19 days left. And so, Hotaru sets out to settle the three lingering regrets with the limited time she has, in the company of Kuro. One of them is to confess her feelings to Ren, her crush of five years. However, when he is in front of her, she finds it impossible to tell him how she feels. As Hotaru settles her first lingering regret, dark clouds begin to gather over her and Kuro … …
Photo does not look like him in any of the roles I've seen…..and that's a few. Lot of heat being generated here over LMH's talents or lack of them, calm down boyz and girls, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I love the fashion values - and he has two Maseratis in different colors. As at ep. 2 more like "What's becoming of Mr Lee" ? As it develops, the reason the leads come together is highly far-fetched . Apart from that, which is contradictory to the light tone of the drama, this is a good mix of romance, comedy and mystery. It's not just the leads but all the characters in this show contribute to a great mix, really cheers me up. The romance towards the end still has original moments but for me gets boring. Could have been 2 or 3 episodes less imo, but the final episode was beautiful. Music very good. I could re-watch this in future, at least the first half.
I started this expecting an amusing light entertainment. There was one funny moment in episode 1 and a few in episode 2, otherwise slow and/or a bit depressing. I liked the fashion and sets [I like the Kandinsky in the Dam Art Gallery]. The gay "joke" [not very funny to start with] rapidly evaporated. LMH seemed uncomfortable playing a part with a gay theme, if so why do it? He is not at his most attractive or convincing. Most of the time LMH looks like he has swallowed a lemon. Son Ye Jin's character I found rather irritating. From episode 8 it nosedived. They really draw out the agony in these Korean dramas before reaching the expected end, Also, maybe it is a Korean expression but I do not like "I see you as a man" meaning you are not a man if you are gay. LMH was asked why he decided to take this part. I am wondering that too.
I think this is underrated, it is lighthearted and funny and translates surreal manga style exceptionally well, though this falls out towards the end. I really feel for people treated like "outcasts". This guy's butt should be in intensive care though. Great pity it was taken off, all good except last episode. Will watch again to cheer myself up.
Watching for second time and 5 episodes in one week, this covers some serious issues facing young adults in school in a convincing way and there is also a running mystery theme about a girl who took her own life and the waves she left behind (story gets a bit cliched), All the actors portray their different characters very well I feel. Like others I feel it is SERIOUSLY UNDERRATED, maybe because it is such a "hard-hitting drama", with little or no comedy to relieve the tension. My only regret is that the series is so short. 10/10
My second watch and the early episodes I like because there is more humor ( black humor) and supernatural, the story gets much darker and violent later. Yes, it does. But this drama is absolutely fantastic in the way all the strands of the mystery come together towards the end, especially episode 17. Just when you think you have worked everything out, another layer of the story emerges. Kim Jae Young's sad eyes are perfect for Leo - don't blink or you will miss the significance of his part in the story with Han Moo Gang - not just a pretty face and very sad. I like Go Ah Ra when she gets mad. I was surprised to see how old Song Seung Heon was playing this, not that it matters.
