This drama is a tragic romance melodrama. Ignore the 'comedy' tag - it’s misleading. It’s essentially a tragic…
From episodes 7 to 13, watching the show becomes more and more exhausting as we wait for the ML to explain the situation, apologize, and fix the damage he's done - not only to the FL, but also to other people, like the FL’s ex. Well… that never happens. For me it felt like experiencing Stockholm syndrome. We all know what the ML did was wrong, and yet we're supposed to sympathize with him, excuse his actions, and convince ourselves that what he did was somehow good in the long run. The drama failed to convince me that the ML genuinely regrets his actions or is struggling to apologize. Nope. Instead, I saw him trying to benefit from the results of his wrongdoing, blaming the victim for what was clearly his fault, and thinking only about his own romantic feelings for the FL and their future.
After episode 13, it becomes clear that the ML does not regret his actions (he says so himself). And then… the FL just jumps back into his arms, all grateful that he persevered! That was the moment I abandoned all hope for the main couple. I knew there weren’t enough episodes left to fix these characters. There are several moments where the FL clearly shows no self-respect and is thankful to the ML for “ignoring her tantrums.” Honestly, I felt like my sanity was being endangered while watching this drama.
Other issues: Yes, the 2FL left the ML - but she did so because she didn’t want to be in a relationship with someone who pitied her (and she was absolutely right). Leaving without any explanation was wrong, and she did apologize for that. Did he apologize for his words? Nope - he was too focused on himself to even realize how wrong his attitude was.
Another issue was how the ML's sister’s alcoholism was ignored - the best her brother could say was, “How long are you going to keep drinking like that?” That was just sad. I guess the writers think, any alcoholic can just stop drinking whenever they want and be magically cured.
This drama is a tragic romance melodrama. Ignore the 'comedy' tag - it’s misleading. It’s essentially a tragic story about parents raising their child only to see her make incredibly poor life decisions. It’s a tragic story about a relationship between a remorseless man (ML) and an emotionally underdeveloped woman (FL).
The ML and FL characters are the reason I gave this show 1 star.
Someone is erasing reviews. I reviewed this crap show last year and lambasted it because the couple is abusive…
I’ve just finished watching this drama, and I completely agree with you about the main couple.
For me, the only likeable character in this drama was the FL’s mother (at least in the second half). Kim Mi Kyung played the role really well. You can also sympathize with the development of the 2FL (Oh Hae Young #2) and Han Tae Jin (the FL’s ex), but they had very little screen time.

I must admit I enjoyed the first few episodes the most - especially when the FL was supposed to look “less beautiful”…
What I didn’t like about the ML’s behavior in episode 7 was his harassment toward the FL. He essentially forced her - using his authority as her boss and ignoring her resistance- into his apartment. Then he continued to impose himself on her, even making physical contact without her consent, despite her obvious discomfort.
Even if he had suspected she was his childhood friend (which he didn’t), this kind of behavior would still be unacceptable. It was very disturbing to watch.
I must admit I enjoyed the first few episodes the most - especially when the FL was supposed to look “less beautiful” (which, honestly, made her look even more beautiful to me).
I think episode 7 is when the drama lost its charm for me. I didn’t like the ML’s behavior in that episode (explained in the spoiler below).
The acting could’ve been better overall. Koshiba Fuka (FL) delivered some emotional scenes well, but many others felt exaggerated and anime-like, which became annoying toward the end. I suspect this may have been a directorial choice rather than her own decision. Nakajima Kento (ML) was mostly okay, though I didn’t enjoy his performance in the final episode.
