This is the best drama that I've ever seen!!! Suggest me some more with the same genre!
for me, these dramas feel most similar to Waikiki's humor: Spring Turns to Spring Zombie Detective (it just started airing recently but the first 2 eps felt similar to Waikiki's exaggerating humor and references to other dramas) I Picked up a Star on the Road (also the same music composers) Legal High (Korean version) - I only watched the Korean so that's why I recommend this instead of the original J-drama
ep 1 - am liking this drama! Train to Busan parody was funny and the rapping in the cave LMAO Choi Jin Hyuk looks good as a zombie ;D Ep 3 - I'm dying at The Last Empress reference (Tae Hang Ho to Choi Jin Hyuk: "Up close, he looks pretty handsome. Is this what I'd look like if I lose weight?") the last part was funny too, I almost felt a Goblin vibe - I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying this one already since I haven't liked many k-dramas since last year, so I'm now looking forward to this drama and Lie after Lie the humor here reminds me of Eulachacha Waikiki too so I've added that to the Recommendations page.
finally a drama I actually look forward to?? I miss watching these old makjang/melodrama type of dramas which I hardly see nowadays unless it's a daily or lakorn...
I loved it so much. It’s a drama that u will either love or hate. It’s not a normal romantic drama. It’s…
I think this drama would've actually been better as a long drama, since it felt kinda slow paced and was more about the love triangle than the fashion plot but I was still entertained by it. I forgot to mention I liked some of the background music too, I miss these older style of music used in makjangs/melodramas but I don't really hear them anymore in modern dramas? I loved one of the music in this drama but unfortunately it wasn't in the OST, like in the scene with Ga Young making a jacket with the sewing machine in ep 5. I've posted a comment about this yesterday but I was spending hours trying to find/edit that music just to listen to it (and uploaded to my YT channel) it's frustrating when I love the BGM in some k-dramas but they don't get released -_-
the drama is getting more interesting now with the brother character showing up (I'm kinda feeling Come! Jang Bo Ri vibes) I like that acoustic guitar music in the drama. Is this gonna be a love triangle/square with the 4 main leads xD
there is one background music that I loved which was not in the OST, it was odd they didn't release it since it played 5 times in the drama and it was practically the main theme of Fashion King. It was still stuck in my mind even after finishing the drama (only ep 5 had the full version with Ga Young making her jacket with sewing machine noises) I've tried to find/edit the song with those music clips since there's no other way to listen to it unless you hear it in the drama. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p49vUmPWwVE alternate version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CN6h8widj7I I miss this style of music used in these older makjangs/melodramas, it's such a shame they didn't release the best track in the drama.
I didn't really get into the hype over SKY Castle until the end of ep 8. Wasn't really a big fan of Misty either but for some reason I didn't like Secret, the romance was more convincing in Kleun Cheewit (similar plot to it)
the last ones I got addicted to were Come! Jang Bo Ri (same writer of The Last Empress) and Fashion King, even though it is rated low on MDL but I get hooked to these old type of makjang/melodramas lol also watching You're All Surrounded, Ugly Alert and A Hundred Years Inheritance. Older dramas seem to have more simple cliche plots/cinematography that I miss seeing in newer dramas (and I enjoyed a few daily dramas & lakorns because of this)
Seriously, people needs to stop comparing this drama with those Mon-Tue, Wed-Thurs, Fri-Sat and Sat-Sun dramas.…
oddly I feel like I'm the only one who can't seem to get into "regular" dramas anymore meanwhile liking the simple plots/cinematography of daily dramas... I am guilty tbh I used to avoid them for the low budget-ness and long # of episodes but then I actually got addicted to some makjang dailies (have only completed 5 since last year) the cliffhangers at the end of every episode makes me wanna watch the next ep xD
I've watched/completed 5 daily makjang dramas since last year but this is still my most favourite/addictive drama, too bad they didn't release all the BGM in the OST (I noticed one of the music was used in the beginning of Queen of Ambition ep 1). This, Gracious Revenge and The Promise have the best ending theme music ever (the ending music Left Hander & Breaking is from the same music composers of The Promise)
*adds Extraordinary You to the list* it was fun at first but got boring for me later. my top 6 - HP, CLOY, YWCFTS, HDL, Avengers Social Club, Secret. The Untamed - I just didn't get obsessed with this drama like everyone else xD actually I can't get into the hype over a lot of 2019-2020 k-dramas... I seem to be enjoying older dramas more than newer ones.
You Who Came from the Stars and It's Okay to Not Be Okay made me realize Kim Soo Hyun is not for me. Both dramas…
yeah I couldn't get into those 2 either but I enjoyed SWDBS! Kim Soo Hyun also felt robotic to me, I liked the ML in the Thai version of YWCFTS better xD
You shouldn't get curious trust me? i understand rare gems too. There are so many underrated drama. I could recomend…
well I actually got addicted to this drama (despite the questionable ending) because of the MLs and I get hooked to these old school melodramas/makjangs which I miss seeing with modern dramas nowadays. I've only liked some parts of Radiant "The Light in Your Eyes" when it was airing. I didn't watch Be Melodramatic since slice of life genre usually bores me. When I was referring to low rated dramas I am not only referring to "underrated" ones but even some low budget daily makjang dramas were more entertaining for me than some popular/hyped shows yet no one will ever recommend me those.
I loved it so much. It’s a drama that u will either love or hate. It’s not a normal romantic drama. It’s…
I finished this recently and I was oddly addicted to it. I enjoyed watching the MLs but the FLs were dull in comparison, as if they are just there for being the MLs' love interests. I would've liked to watch this as a longer drama with a more fast paced plot/conclusive ending.
OK finally finished it and saw the infamous ending that I read spoilers about before I actually watched the show. Who was that, I tried zooming into the screen but it looked like a non-Asian guy to me?? I thought JH's dad would've killed him since he and Madam Jo were the real villains of this show, and based on his conversation with JH was like foreshadowing his death. If GY heard a gunshot shouldn't she have reacted to that sound? But then again I've read comments elsewhere that she might've known he was going to get killed. The ending just left me confused, felt like an open ending.
The 2 MLs carried the show, since the FLs felt dull in comparison, like they were just there for being the MLs' love interests. People usually complain about SSK but for me KYR felt stiff in her role, like she's always talking in a monotone voice. I actually enjoyed this drama but it could've had way more potential if it focused more on the fashion plot than the love triangles, like I actually got excited about the beginning of the show when they focused on YG. I wished this drama could've actually been a 30-50 ep drama with a more exciting/fast paced plot and show GY's revenge on Madam Jo.
