I am already having low expectations seeing the latest trailer. When a drama divert and give too much time to other couple unrelated to the main couple storyline, the drama tend to flop.

Yes, that's right, brotherhood is the right word to use in the context of this drama where there is no official romance pairings. Bromance on the other hand is purposely use to insenuate that this drama has elements that is not proper to focus on in a drama that is about an official government body.

The reason the spreading of "this drama is bromance" by haters because this drama is registered with the fire department and police department which censorship has ban any bromance or scandalous social elements to be included in, so by attaching that this drama is bromance, they wanted to make this drama being imvestigated and delay or cancel filming because it rumored to content banned element. So yeah there is nothing wrong at all right.

It turns out Xu Kai's mom has been ill and treatment has started working. Maybe this is the reason he has been losing weight because of stress and worrying about his mom but people here assumed the worst of him, accusing him of not having strong willpower to ignore haters who said he is fat, calling him horribly ugly.

Actually I got what you mean, for me Jing Tian did well with her character but I don't think this drama purposely arrange to boost up xu kai's character, but rather Jing Tian's character was dumb down to accommodate the ridiculous scenes for 2ML, his agency paid a lot for more scenes and they accommodate this to show him more on the front using Jing Tian's character.
