The jdrama is an adaptation of the original manga so it is darker than the korean version (which is quite different from the manga). If possible, go and read the Liar Game Manga instead of watching both the adaptations because- the acting in the jdrama is not the best and the kdrama is not as thrilling as the original story in the manga.

The themes of both films are similar in terms of dysfunction, acting style, cinematography, closted homosexuality, and infidelity.
