WORST OF THE WORST
What kind of film adaptation changes the story so drastically from the original? How is that even reasonable? it called an adaption for a reason. The plot of this movie is a complete mess, it’s nothing like the original. How could they turn someone as precious as Kim Dokja into that? Every character in the original ORV is deeply valuable, and this film completely ruined everything about ORV.

DO NOT WATCH IT!
The adaptation uses the fame of ORV. This isn't ORV live-action at all! The way they make changes, the disappearance of an important character, and the plot changes are awful. At this point, the director just wants to make an adaptation like he wants and completely forget the true story. This is disrespectful to the fans and the author themselves. Korea had better think seriously about taking a live-action novel. Shame on you!Was this review helpful to you?
Heartbreaking Letdown for Fans (READERS ONLY)
As someone who absolutely loved the original web novel, this movie was nothing short of a massive disappointment. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint had so much potential—complex characters, rich world-building, and intense emotional stakes—but the film completely butchered it.The pacing was rushed, major plot points were either skipped or glossed over, and the character development was almost non-existent. Kim Dokja, who is supposed to be a deeply layered protagonist, felt flat and emotionless. Even Yoo Joonghyuk, a fan favorite, was reduced to a generic tough guy with barely any depth.
The CGI felt unfinished at times, and the action scenes, while flashy, lacked emotional weight. Worst of all, the storytelling felt shallow, like it was made for people unfamiliar with the source material. For fans, it felt like a betrayal. For newcomers, it probably just felt confusing.
Honestly, if you’re a fan of the novel or webtoon, save yourself the heartbreak. This adaptation missed the mark completely.

if you guys interested in orv, read the novel instead.
at this point this movie is not an adaptation of orv, it's more like a random movie using orv character's name. bcs wdym they change the plot?? and they make kim dokja hate twsa???? and they also make yoo sangah a healer?? AND suddenly yoo junghyeok is not a protagonist anymore?? yeah ts is NOT an adaptation. the director wanted to make a lot of money by using orv but not respecting the original work. oh yeah and the cast sucks too.Was this review helpful to you?
A Disappointing Misread of a Masterpiece
As a fan of the original Omniscient Reader, this live-action adaptation was a huge letdown. The casting feels off, especially for Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk, whose dynamic was completely flattened. The pacing is a mess—rushing key arcs while dragging out irrelevant scenes. The worldbuilding is lazy, the CGI is weak, and the script lacks the depth and philosophical weight of the source material. It’s flashy but soulless. Fans will be frustrated, and newcomers will be confused. Read the webtoon or novel instead.

weird at first, but it gets better
At first, when I started watching it, I thought that it wasn't worth my time and I should just drop it. But almost a quarter of the way through it, I thought it was getting better. The plot felt kind of rushed at the beginning but then near the end, you realise why. I'm not going to say any spoilers but I really like the second half of the movie, it makes it a lot better. If you struggle to find anywhere to watch it, because I know I did, I watched on Daily Motion, Link: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x98dbleWas this review helpful to you?
I wish I didn't know about this adaptation.
Did the film crew actually read the original work?Except for the same character name, I don't feel like this adaptation is similar in any other way.Tell me the truth, is the director trying to assassinate orv's fans? They treat us, the original readers, as three-year-olds and think we'd support an adaptation like that.I don't know if my standards for cinematic techniques are too high or if the aesthetic taste of filmmakers nowadays is too low, how could they create such a disaster.
The fight scenes are really bland, after watching it the only thing that remains is celebrities trying to force themselves into someone else, not getting into character.
I am really sad that my favorite work is being dragged out to be made into a cheap, empty industrial "dish".
I really advise if you are a fan of the original, you should not watch it if you want to keep good memories or add new frustration.

A Disgrace to the Original
My first and last review on this website because I'm honestly so upset that one of my favorite novels has been turned into a trashy adaptation that isn't even the same story! You can tell this was made just so the director can get a quick cash grab from fans of the original and fans of the actors (if you're a Blink fan and want to watch this for Jisoo don't bother; the director literally just used her to get money from yall and threw subtle shade towards her, she barely has any screentime too!) There's so much I want to say, but I don't want to repeat what others have said, so just read the rest of the reviews on this because a lot explain in detail how much they butchered the original!READ THE NOVEL, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS TRASH!!!!!!

A really overall Good movie with passionate acting
It's been already two years ago I watched a movie in Theaters This movie is the first movie I watched after hiatus watching a movie in theaters. Very pleasing experience. I really didn't expected I would be understand it more than When I read the novel which very boring and totally confusing for me. The storeytelling is being presentQuite well by the director. They present it well about the world building which conveyed by the male lead who drive the story . Despite stereotype storyline, I enjoy it alot. Really passionate performances by the actor especially Ahn Hyo Seop. His character drive the story. Without his acting performances and his versatility, this movie won't be as enjoyable and work for me. I really appreciate his performances here which is one of his best. Yet. Imo
I'm glad I don't listen to the haters. This is peak cinema based how much I enjoy the acting. The plot want to showing it too much at times just for 2 hours. The character other than dokja is just not being well present because this is too focus on the mc. For an ensemble cast this huge, it's pretty surprising. But nevertheless, i enjot it alot.

How to Ruin a Masterpiece: The ORV Live-Action Guide
Rating: 1.0/10 (And that’s purely out of pity)Let’s not mince words. The Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint live-action adaptation is not just bad, it’s a full-blown insult to storytelling, filmmaking, acting, and fans of the original work. It is, without exaggeration, one of the most soulless, creatively bankrupt, commercially desperate attempts at adaptation I’ve seen in recent memory. If you’re looking for a shining example of what not to do when adapting a beloved webnovel or manhwa, this is it.
The CGI is atrocious. Not mediocre, not outdated, atrocious. It looks like it was rendered during a high school digital media project with a broken GPU. Backgrounds are flat and dead, action scenes are choppy and weightless, and monster designs—if you can even call them that—look like they were assembled with leftover assets from failed children's cartoons. The dokkaebi, one of the most iconic elements of the series, was turned into a glowing blue abomination that looks like the cursed child of a Labubu plush and a rejected Doraemon skin. Intimidating? More like laughable. I’ve seen party store Halloween decorations with more menace.
Then there’s the casting. This entire adaptation feels like a promotional vehicle for Jisoo rather than a genuine attempt to bring ORV’s world to life. Jisoo, who plays Lee Ji Hye, is practically plastered on every promo poster and trailer despite her character not being the narrative core of the story. She is not the protagonist, nor does she drive the plot in any meaningful way beyond key moments. Her front-and-center presence feels shameless, like a last-ditch marketing stunt to cash in on fandom loyalty. It's painfully transparent, and worse, it's disrespectful to the actual story. It would be more honest to call this “Lee Ji Hye: K-Drama Edition featuring random ORV names” and stop pretending it’s anything else.
And Yoo Sangah? Don’t even get me started. Her character has been so badly mangled, I’m convinced the writers had zero clue who she was. In the original, she is composed, calm, and absolutely ruthless when necessary. A woman who survives the apocalypse not by luck or being “cute,” but by sheer strength and intellect. And now? They’ve turned her into some soft-spoken, web-slinging healer, as if we’re watching a rejected Marvel sidekick. Since when did Sangah use her web powers to heal people? She’s not a glorified first aid kit—she was meant to slice through enemies and patriarchy alike. Watching her reduced to a meek, nurturing figure is not just inaccurate, it’s infuriating. It is the total erasure of her original power and presence.
And let’s talk about the weapons. Swords? Gone. Beautifully choreographed martial combat? Forgotten. In its place? GUNS. Lazy, unearned, and totally tone-deaf. Why on Earth would a story with a well-developed, symbolic weapon system swap out intricate, lore-rich blade fighting for modern firearms? It’s like they skimmed a two-sentence summary of ORV and decided to wing the rest.
Costumes? A complete joke. The wigs are flatter than the character development, with the texture of a dead mop and the volume of a wet noodle. These are not fantasy-world survivors; they look like washed-out extras in a bad high school play. Honestly, I’ve seen fan cosplayers on TikTok and Instagram who could put this production to shame blindfolded. Not only do they look better, but they actually understand the spirit of the characters, something this entire production team seems to have violently ignored.
It honestly feels like no one involved in the adaptation bothered to open the book, read the manhwa, or even scroll through a single Webtoon comment section. The story’s themes? Butchered. The emotional nuance? Thrown out. The tone, worldbuilding, and character arcs? Trampled underfoot in the rush to push a star-studded, hollow shell of what this adaptation could’ve been. What we’re left with is a soulless Frankenstein creation stitched together from broken tropes, lazy writing, and studio desperation.
To call this an “adaptation” is almost slander to the word. It is not inspired. It is not respectful. It is not even entertaining. It is a shameless cash grab made by people who clearly didn’t care and assumed the fandom would eat it up anyway. If the director thinks this teaser was enough to “hype us up,” then I sincerely hope they’re prepared for the absolute storm of backlash that’s coming. This isn’t just a bad adaptation—it’s a public slap in the face to the original creators and every single reader who’s loved ORV for years.
The only thing left to hope for is the anime, and even that feels fragile now. Until then, stay far, far away from this garbage fire. Read the novel. Read the manhwa. Support the original. Erase this mess from your memory and don’t let this disrespectful cash-grab make a single cent more than it deserves.

Don't bother
I was really disappointed. Even when people thought the cast didn't fit the characters, i thought they'd manage to pull it off somehow. But atp this isn't the actors fault at all.Why even call it ORV adaptaion after changing it that much? Characters become what they are because of the things they go through in their lives. When you remove these stuff, what even becomes of these characters? They felt empty and I'm a person who read the webtoon adaptation not even the novel.

It's absolute trash
Absolutely, TrashOmniscient Reader: The Prophet
⭐ Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)
As a dedicated fan of the original web novel and webtoon *Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint*, I walked into *The Prophet* with cautious hope — and left heartbroken. What should’ve been a stunning tribute to one of the most profound Korean fantasy series ended up as a hollow shell that barely scratched the surface of its potential.
The essence of the story — the emotional complexity of Kim Dokja, the brutal elegance of Yoo Joonghyuk, and the immersive world of scenarios — is lost in a sea of generic action and flashy visuals. The adaptation seems more interested in commercial spectacle than in honoring the soul of the source material. Characters feel flattened, iconic scenes are reduced to clichés, and any philosophical or emotional depth is entirely swept aside.
The most painful part? It’s not just disappointing — it’s a disservice. A story that made so many of us feel *seen* and *understood*, that played with fate, choice, and love in such poetic ways, deserved better. It deserved respect.
My final thoughts 💭
If you’ve read the original — protect your memory of it. This movie is not for you. It’s not *Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint*. It’s a distortion. A betrayal.
Kim Dokja deserved more. And so did we.💔

this shit is extremely disappointing
My english isn’t the best, but my writing is still better than the live action’s degenerate of a director. My opinion is that no human being that went through reading at least one chapter of ORV and has an IQ above zero can call this disgrace a “live action”.
“Fresh perspective” my ass. The director is a misogynistic annoying piece of shit that deserves jail time for destroying ORV’s plot, characters, world building and basically the entire novel.
My most beloved story was ruined. YSA, a strong woman capable of killing lots of enemies with her threads turned into a healer, healing her companions with said threads?? KDJ, his entire backstory of being a victim of abuse and bullying, him killing his dad and his mom going to jail for it - it’s all gone, now KDJ wants to save the world, not to have a happy ending with his favorite characters that have been saving him throughout his painful life?? YJH is now irrelevant, HSY is nonexistent.. oh, i’m getting upset just by typing this all, let’s wrap it up.
Well, what else could come out of a live action that was promoted using AI multiple times.. sigh….
In conclusion, I’m just gonna wish the director of the live action the worst downfall imaginable in the entertainment industry.
Never watch this shit legally, those bastards don’t deserve any money for creating this nonsense.

It's just bad, nothing is salvagable.
The cinematic is bad. The story is bad, which in turn the acting is also bad. Everything is just BAD. A waste of time, the second hand embarrassment at every scene and minute it's not even funny. YSA got dumbed down and stripped of her battle with everyday misogyny like a healer seriously, SHE'S A FIGHTER. Jung Heewon was never a part of TWSA but got retconned into it horribly. He trauma and assault were just used as trophy instead of looking at the horror of it. Lee Jihye uses guns, the women of ORV were tossed aside for director's incel view of making profit instead of making a story translate. Kim Dokja would hate thisWas this review helpful to you?
An absolute mockery and insult to the original webnovel
If you are interested in such a trope, I’d advise you to actually read the ongoing manwha or webnovel instead, because this movie absolutely butchered it. From completely discarding the initial literature work to subtracting the complexity of the characters, this media could be considered basically trash — or much worse.Starting by the main character, Kim Dokja, originally a morally grey protagonist equipped with a highly abusive past who navigates through the apocalyptic world with carefully thought-out (for years) plans, has been reduced to a mainstream apocalypse survivor who dreams of saving the world through the power of the bonds he’s made along the way. Him, who has proved to be selfish, manipulative but extremely deprecating of his own life many times in the webnovel, has become not only the complete opposite, but his own abuse has been crumpled like paper and thrown in a metaphorical bin! Gone now the unhealthy family bonds and harassment he was forced to face, and now face the one-dimensional ambitious mc who is supposed to have the past of a bully?? Because TWSA’s protagonist Yoo Joonghyuk ‘told’ him to??? What in the deepest pits of hell is this? Not only does it show completely illogical morals from the supposed saviour of this world, but it also becomes a personal insult to the original Kim Dokja, because never in this lifetime would ORV’s protagonist inflict the abuse that has been thrown at him to endure.
Then comes Yoo Joonghyuk, the once 2nd MOST IMPORTANT character in the whole webnovel who shares an extremely deep, complex emotional bond with Kim Dokja, who has been turned into your average random sidekick who is somehow very skilled in.. shooting?? Proficient in a sort of weapon that proved itself to be meaninglessly useless in the original work? Which is why they should all be wielding swords, but instead you see all the characters equipped with a variety of guns??? And not only does Yoo Joonghyuk become an easily forgettable character in the shadow of the main character, but his relation to the latter became oversimplified and overlooked?! His complicated personality forced to fit the one-dimensional model of a stoic, repressed and asocial clown; everything that was interesting about him has been thrown in said metaphorical bin, all that just to highlight Kim Dokja even more. Instead of making them complementary with one of the most gut-wrenching relationships I have ever read, Kim Dokja instead takes Yoo Joonghyuk like an all-brawn no-brained idiot and just tells him “Yoo Joonghyuk! I’m literally the prophet!!”. That would have made NO sense in the novel (YJH has a skill detecting lies!!!) but, of course, because this is a half-assed remake, that blatant lie worked.
Then we move on to Yoo Sangah, a character who once embodied a woman’s struggles with misogyny in a society but also has a lot of cultural, historical knowledge along with communicating skills, has become.. a simple soft hearted healer. Dumbing her down to this mainstream trope is not only extremely misleading and misogynistic, but is also ironic, considering this was exactly what she was initially fighting against: the real reason why she was on the subway was modified, for example. She was supposed to be on it because her bike was stolen by Han Myungoh, who, in a twisted way of courtship, intended on forcing her to let him ride her home (in some Mercedes, if my memory is good). Obviously, Sangah refused and went on the subway instead. And, like adding salt to a wound, not only has this part of her lore been removed but also her fierceness that balanced her empathy, her fighting skills (Ariadne’s wires!!), and vast knowledge; all of it thrown, again, in a metaphorical bin to make way for a one-dimensional soft healer.
There is much, much more to criticise about this mess of a cinematic work (example: more misogyny by purposeful omission of Jung Heewon’s SA, removing the horror parts of the webnovel by making the dokkaebi Bihyung like a colourful labubu doll, bad CGI, Lee Gilhyeong becoming a whiny cockroach-manipulating kid, etc.), but I will stop here, and just add these final words: even without knowledge of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, the movie is just very confusing — due to not explaining key points of the lore (example: constellations, skills), pretty boring and appears to the audience as a tragic replica of a popular trope (apocalypse). As such, I again recommend reading the book instead.. even if you’d be in for a long, melancholic and emotional road.
