Think It Will Be Tragedy, Turn Out Happy Ending

Good story, good acting. Beautiful and handsome actor. The chemistry between each couple is good. I like Wu Shiguang x Wu Wangyan couple, but this Ji Ling x Lu Wuyi couple is so sweet and both of them were ready to sacrifice themself to save each other. The story has too many heartbreaking and sacrifice moments. Many lies and deceitful that it make me confuse who is the enemy, who lies, who speak the truth (not the main enemy). But turn out the truth will reveal and it will have happy ending.

MY MOST ANTICIPATED CDRAMA ??

A Splendid Match was my absolute number one most anticipated drama ever since they first started filming, and now that I’ve finished every single episode, I can honestly say it was so worth the wait. The chemistry between Ren Min and Ci Sha is just insane—their acting is on another level, to the point where if they cry I’m crying right with them, and if they laugh I’m laughing too. Their love for each other is just too deep for words. Jinzhao is exactly what a female lead should be; she’s so pretty, brave, and clever, and she really reminds me of Dou Jiao from Blossom with how sharp she is. Her devotion to her husband is everything, and Ren Min completely nailed all her emotional scenes. Ci Sha is just as amazing—he’s so handsome, brilliant, and protective, and the way he loves his wife went way beyond what I even expected. I just love how they constantly support and protect each other without any annoying misunderstandings. Honestly, the whole cast did an amazing job, and I have to mention the production values because the outfits, accessories, and filming locations are so stunning. The female lead’s clothes in particular are just gorgeous and so detailed. On top of all that, the OSTs are absolutely amazing—the music fits every scene perfectly and makes all the emotional moments hit ten times harder. It’s easily a thousand out of ten for me. 🤍💕💕

An interesting character whose backstory is painful but simultaneously worth watching

When I watched this special, I hadn't seen the second film yet. But Oh My God! This special has sold well the character of Alice, who I expect to have a great role in the film.

And before I forget, don't watch this special if you haven't watched the special 'Fukunaga VS Yokoya.' The outcome of that will be spoiled. Also, some scenes from the film are occasionally shown.

Back to the special episodes, as I said, it does well convey how special Alice is. Come to think of it. Alice's story has a parallel with Akiyama's story structurally. It is unfortunate that the special for Akiyama's backstory is dogshit and not worth watching. I can only wish that the care and production made for Alice were done for Akiyama's backstory.

Romance and Politics, Family Drama!

A Splendid Match is not so new genre in which it tells about a lady in family conflict and fictional historical politics. However, what makes it so special for me is the chemistry between the main couple. The politics in drama is also not so difficult to follow through. So overall, it's so easy to engage and get into the story completely.

In early episodes, there weren't many scenes between the main cp. But it cannot hide away the obvious connection. Even when they just look at each other, the chemistry is flowing. Once male lead knew that he was in love, and the way he persue her were all good to watch. I can say that Chen Yan Yun is another male lead type i admire. I love the way he persue love and how smart he is in political game. Ci Sha gives perfect performace for this character, who is mature, smart and romantic.

Ren Min is very beautiful as Gu Jinzhao, our female lead. However, I just have a feeling that I don't understand her much at times. She is a good person in overall, but also a sharp tongue who was not afraid to stand up for herself or told off her own father. I don't understand why she can't call her mother "mother" when she already come good terms with her mother who was then near to victim in her marriage household. The mother was not able to look after her since young because of the father took her away. Nevertheless she was still the mother. So Jinzhao seemed good term with her. So I don't exactly get Jinzhao whether she still holding grudge or not able to forgive the mother wholly?
Her relationship with Ye Xian looks weird at times for me. It felt like they had skipped some parts. Because I was not convinced that they had such deep relationship that he become very important to her. I can see his admiration towards her (but he's too bratty and so immature at times). He did few things for her (not as much as male lead). Him and Jinzhao were mostly on bickering and then she come to see good side of him too. But then I don't think they have spend enough time to get strong bond. Therefore, I just don't understand why she would say he was important to her (just not in romantic way).
Lastly, after her marriage with Chen Yan Yun, I wish she talked properly with Xuan Qing, her first crush, that she no longer have feelings for him. I mean after all she used to crush on him and acted like she liked him before. The guy deep down might still thinking she still have that feeling and was married to Chen Yan Yun for good sake. The way she avoided him just feels she leaves the problem just hanging like that without solving it.

Despite some confusing stuffs, A Splendid Match is a nice watch so far. It's generally beautiful historical setting. Costume are beautiful. The casts give superb performance(especially from the older generation).
I have watched so far up to episode 32. I will update my review once I watch to the end of drama.
My current is score 8.5. Generally a good watch though with some confusing flaws.

Pleasing to the eye while warming your heart

I'd say, a warm, action packed, straight forward drama. Pursuit of Jade is one of those dramas that gives you comfort from knowing it's going to be a happy ending while growing on you before you know. From the story to the cast to the music - sweet, heartwarming.

The story nor the characters are complicated. As someone who hasn't read the novel, I think they did fine with the pacing, except for some problems here and there, notably the ending. I honestly worried it would be a mess hearing all the comments of how it spent too much time on the village arc and all. But it didn't feel like a problem to me. I felt fine about it. I did worry of the ending though. The pace they were going, I felt 2 more episodes would have been better. Action scenes were undoubtedly fabulous. Especially, ones of the Marquis. Just plain looks and slow motion, but they were so close to perfection! I kept rewinding and rewatching the beauty, bless my eyes 😍

Main plot problems I felt were - one, when Sui Yuanhuai was introduced, they completely shifted from Changyu and Zheng to the other couple, almost as if, we were done with those two. I got reminded of Thai BLs were there are multiple couples. I really wanted to know what the leads were up to, because there wasn't enough screen time for them. Thankfully, that didn't happen with the counselor-princess pair's storyline. Second, after a certain bit, Wei Yan and the other court officials were completely missing for a good, long time. Like, they were supposed to be the bad guys right? Then why all of a sudden, there aren't any updates of them? Especially where we leave them, I actually expected a new chaos to rise, but these people disappeared altogether, forget planning a trap. Third I'd say, Sui Yuanqing; they should have just ended the guy's role earlier. The entire getting caught, escaping/releasing then getting caught again, nah. That went on for too long. The ending of that character was good though brutal. That was done well. Then yes, obviously, the ending battle. Not satisfying at all. The ending definitely could have been better, especially the fight scenes. It could have at least lasted an entire episode but they just wrapped it up quickly. Other than that, all that mystery solving too, it was just pinned on one person and that's it. It felt like they wanted to give each character a story of their own to justify the character. But there wasn't a weight to that; it was hollow. Characters were well written but they could have been a bit more complex. Don't know if it's the same in the novel or just the drama. Finally, arrangement of scenes could have been better. At times, it cut the flow.

But two emotional scenes were there that really touched me. One was when Changyu realises her father is Wei Qilin. That really made my heart feel heavy. It was done really well. I could feel the fear, the refusal to accept and the helplessness. And second, the ending of Wei Yan. Woah! I honestly always had a soft spot for that character 🫠 I kept believing he wasn't entirely a bad guy, you know, the typical villain. So finally, when I was proven right, it just added. The nostalgia and him imagining a last meal with Zheng, yah, it brought tears to my eyes. He did truly love his nephew.

Cast was DEFINITELY amazing! The main leads - Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei, just make sense. The fact that Fan Changyu is just 19 and the actress actually looks youthful, really thankful for that. Had it been someone who obviously doesn't look like a 19 year old, it would have been real pathetic.
Tian Xiwei! God! I LOVED HER! She's got this adorable smile and pretty face yet she's no where near being fragile. Fan Changyu is one of the best female characters I've come across. True fem power! Xiwei's acting is awesome. She really warms your heart. I could find myself swooning over her every now and then, smiling and being whipped for her 😭 Then OBVIOUSLY! The talk of the town, the one who flooded my fyp page the moment the drama dropped. THE Marquis of Wu'an (Wu'an Hou 🥹) ! Bless whoever decided him for the role! Because GOSHHHH!!! IS HE NOT PERFECTION??? My LORD THE VISUALS! Broo, this is honestly the closest to heaven we can get! He's just a walking General of this era! Not just beauty, his acting skills are applaudable too. He's a beauty with talent. The role of Xie Zheng (who for the most part is Yan Zheng) is another green flag. Loved the fact that he never once doubted on the fact that he loved her.

The chemistry between the two is REALLY good. The characters were also written that way I think. That no matter what, they were the same people with similar interests, so ultimately, they couldn't be on opposite teams for long. And that was well portrayed by the actor and actress. Loved this power couple!

Side characters were also very good. Really attached to the villagers. The counselor (played by Li Qing) and the grand tutor Tao (played by Li Jianyi) 😂 Fun characters! Favorites of mine. As for Qianqian and Yuanhuai (Qi Min) - as someone who doesn't like toxic relationships in general, it wouldn't be my favorite pair anyway, but even then, the story wasn't good enough to stand a chance too. If the story and characters had more depth, it would have been better. I personally didn't like their side of the story. But the acting? REALLY GOOD! Deng Kai and Kong Xueer did it really well! Especially Deng Kai. Then of course, the pig butcher squad. Very sad Mandi couldn't make it 😭 He was such an adorable character. I really value the genuinley good characters around the leads and they were honestly surrounded by such healthy people on a whole. Mr. And Mrs. Zhao too. Yan Yikuan as Wei Yan was one of my other favourites. And special mentions to the child actors - Cao Yanning and Wu Jiajun. Fantastic!

Music was another big leverage of this drama. My favorite is 'I Searched For Him A Thousand Times in the Crowd'. This was the first drama where I loved and learnt the OST before watching the show 😂 The background audio effects gave a punch whenever and wherever necessary, adding to the drama.

Rewatch wise, yes. I would rewatch this. Not only to understand a bit more, but also because, it grew on me before I knew. And now, I need to visit this friend every once in a while. Another watch without skips is guaranteed.

Overall, I really want to thank the director Zeng Qingjie for bringing this story to life. It would seriously be sad if this drama didn't exist, at the very least for the eye. So visually pleasing, truly! The set, the shots and the cast (ㅠㅡㅠ)
Love you Zhu Yu and I hope I can read the novel someday!

The Failed Korean Version of Bridgerton

This Kdrama reportedly spent 30 billion won recreating ancient settings, with the director from Alchemy of Souls, and art directors from Guardian and Mr. Sunshine involved. I went into it with incredibly high expectations.

“That’s it?”

I was both disappointed and shocked.

The world-building in the script is ambitious, but the writer simply didn’t have the ability to tell a complete and compelling story within 12 episodes. The balance between the romance and the political intrigue was poorly handled, and the political conflicts felt like children playing pretend. Korean dramas rarely manage to make political storylines truly gripping, but if you’re determined to include palace intrigue and power struggles, at least get the basic logic right.

This drama clearly wanted to become a dreamy Korean version of Bridgerton, but watching the male and female leads dance together was honestly just awkward.

It tried to do everything, and ended up doing nothing well . It's a truly disappointing Kdrama.

Some stories earn every word you could give them, and still the words feel like too little.

Quietest dramas are the most honest ones. They don't push. They just show you what it costs to be a person. The way love and harm can live in the same hand. The way being right about something doesn't protect you from losing it. The way time moves through people whether they're ready or not.

When a story understands that, really understands it, watching it doesn't feel like watching. It feels like being known.

What stayed with me, after everything, was that it never cheated. It never reached for a feeling before it had earned the right to ask for one. Every hard moment had been built toward honestly. That's rarer than it sounds. Most stories flinch somewhere. This one didn't.

Learning to Love is a masterpiece. Subtle, patient, and completely alive. The kind of art that doesn't ask you to admire it. It just sits with you until you realize it changed something quietly, without asking permission.

Don't miss it.

Be Yourself

The story is about a woman who got into a strange club where they have to draw someone who's pose in front of them as a model. But the people who have become the models are actually members of that small organization itself. No matter if your drawing is bad, it's all about having fun of drawing. Not only that, but they also have to change their clothes based on the theme. It becomes interesting when one of her friends knows about it and joins the club.

Love is more than Throne

The story is about a man that is being feared by the other but his status is not a King. But whoever can be near him can gain a status, merit, etc. Not long after that, there is a rich woman that have to marry him for political purpose. It's where the story began, become much more interesting when they both express their true feelings to each other. Not only that but uncovering the truth is what makes the story become much more interesting.

✨The Romance, The Scheming, The Domestic Bliss… Oh They Got Me ✨

This drama really sneaked up on me because I had absolutely zero plans to watch it, so my expectations were sitting comfortably in the “eh, let’s see” category. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be such an addictive little gem.

The plot itself is not insanely complex - we throw in some politics, family beef, emotional damage, yearning, scheming, ROMANCE and just let the chaos marinate while we sip the tea.
The visuals and costumes were gorgeous, very easy on the eyes, and while the OST did not personally enter my “legendary cdrama soundtrack hall of fame,” I still ended up loving it a lot. The whole drama had this weirdly old-school comforting vibe to it for some reason lmao, which is funny considering half the plot is people plotting against each other. But there was just something so cozy and addictive about it that had me looking forward to new episodes every single day.

Now let’s talk about the FL because oh, she was THAT girl. Smart, iconic, sassy, outspoken, emotionally intelligent, and absolutely capable of biting back if someone crossed her. No timid “...gege...” energy here. She stood on business while still being deeply loyal and devoted to the people she loved. Definitely one of my favorite female leads lately.

And the ML… Ci Sha, I owe you an apology because I was unfamiliar with your game.
Cdrama gods, PLEASE give me more male leads like this man. Soft-spoken yet lethal, terrifyingly smart and calculating, calm under pressure, emotionally mature, and only weak when it comes to his wife? Yeah inject it directly into my bloodstream. The way this man looked at the FL the entire drama??? Sir PLEASE. And what made it even better was that once he realized his feelings, he did not spend 25 episodes fighting demons and denying them. He accepted it, embraced it, and pursued her properly like a grown man. Revolutionary behavior in dramaland honestly. My romantic heart ate it UP. Also his visuals? Chef’s kiss. Cinema. Art.

Their chemistry was genuinely so good too. Excellent communication for the most part, mutual respect, partnership vibes, and together they really felt unstoppable. If you crossed this couple, congratulations on your upcoming funeral because there was absolutely zero chance of winning against them. Their married era especially? SIGH. The wedding? Beautiful. Domestic moments? Delicious. The kisses started off a little awkward, not gonna lie, but they improved gradually and ended up feeling natural and sweet instead of overly forced or performative.

The SML, played by Winwin, was honestly such a lovable headache. He absolutely nailed that “annoying but you’d still protect him with your life” type of character. Total ride-or-die for the FL, and I loved that she gave that same loyalty back to him too. Their friendship was genuinely beautiful. And honestly, the trio chemistry overall was excellent. Half the time it felt like the ML lowkey adopted him and just tolerated his nonsense with exhausted affection. (The night before the wedding, however… different story entirely lmaooo.)

The supporting cast, family dynamics, pacing, and character development all kept me thoroughly entertained. And the psycho nephew??? Absolutely not. Zuo Ye played that role TOO well because I did not trust that man for even one minute. The trauma from Fated Hearts was still active in my system apparently.

What I appreciated most is that this drama never really felt boring to me. Even during slower moments, I stayed emotionally invested. I know some viewers were disappointed with the final arc, but personally, it still worked for me. Yes, we got emotional deaths because this is a cdrama and suffering is apparently mandatory, but the story never lost momentum in my eyes.
The ending itself felt a bit abrupt, but it was still ultimately a happy one for the leads and most characters, and it gave me enough closure emotionally. It felt less like “THE END” and more like we’re simply leaving the leads in the middle of their continuing journey together.

Overall, this turned out to be such a delightful surprise and easily one of my favorite watches lately.

What Remains

After hearing that Park Jeong-min won Best Actor for this film, it became hard to pass up. The plot is straightforward yet engaging, following a son uncovering the “ugly” truth behind his mother’s disappearance 40 years ago through a series of interviews.
The ending feels unsettling and somewhat disappointing, raising questions about the overall moral of the film. While the protagonist lacks many redeemable qualities, Park Jeong-min’s raw and emotional performance completely captures attention and stands out as the film’s strongest aspect.

translation issues aside, it was thrilling !

this was a great premise (the ring x excorism) so it gripped me right away. i love the horror genre and i think the series did great with its casting, the talent of its actors, the execution, and even the music/score elevated the intensity! this was like an exploration into the body horror genre as well~

it was such a sad look at the reality of young adulthood, school bullies, difficult home life, and betrayal. i loved that shamanism was both criticized as well as framed with heroism; many series these days only paint shamanism in a bad light so i thought it was interesting to see how it could be used to “exorcise” demonic forces and intent instead of just being the cause of a curse. the way the spiritual world was executed, how the main characters had to get through the three doors and how haetsal helps guide them in the mortal world was cool asf i ate it upppp😈

a couple criticisms:
- the netflix translations were SO OFF. i’m not even fluent in korean but there were some lines in the english translation that weren’t even remotely said… it takes away from the emotional impact, i believe. the translations tried to explain what was happening instead of letting the audience connect to the characters through their actions and seeing their emotions on screen. sigh
- that ending???? i get you want to express that there may be a second season but it was kind of corny lol also if destroying the thing that caused the curse defeats the curse, why would the app still work? 🤐😭 i’d rather watch a second season that completely focuses on haetsal’s journey into being free from the spirits that are attached to her instead of diving into the app curse again

ALSO i do hope there was no generative AI use 😭 some scenes seemed a lil sus

anyway! i thought this was a pretty decent first season, even though it was so short. i will be seated for what’s next!

Actors work hard

The new drama "Magic Move" is the best drama ever.....Even though people critize the series as negative (-2) and find it boring and think that the sound editing is iritating....I love the series because I can feel how shy the ml couple is to act on the screen I love the effort they put in to the series...My favroute part is in Magic Move Ep 3 where they started kissing in the cart the next second they where searching for there clothes...Thank Thailand for making a Twainees Bl that makes me laugh and scream out of happiness, so to the people who likes to break of bl dramas I am warning you as many negative comments there is as many positive comments I'll post; why? Because this series sound editing makes me think of "Daung With You" my very first best loving TwBl.
So don't break of actors but rather build up not the other way around thanks to people who likes to give negative comments later make actors stress and either retire or commit su****e and bl couple who are perfect toghter either break up or they dissapear from the screen because they don't whant to see negative comments. Because negative saying about you break you off - I know what I'm talking about and wasn't it for God, I either would have c*t or b***en my wrists to d** but He always made it so that there always was an urgent matter so that I didn't have the chance. I am going of topic, ain't I? Any who all I whant to say is let's help each other to build up not break down.

Seriously Entertaining

No dull moments for real. And for the first time in years, I can't take off my eyes from the screen because every actor's portrayal are so real and addictive. They're not polished and white washed like in most dramas kind of characters and yet they draw you in. And the cinematic effect of every scene makes you want to rewind each take and play it again. And lastly, the plot is so tight and was able to fit in 8 episodes that they were able to give us a very warm and satisfying finale.
