Underrated gem
This was such an underrated gem, simply a masterpiece. This series showed the journey of a couple in love , it’s not about falling in love but about staying in love , how two people in love overcome and still stay with each other .This series trully felt like a warm hug . It’s so unique and beautifully portrayed . The aesthetics, cinematography, Color palate, directing is just outstanding.
I love how series started with Pobmek being dependent on solar , to a scene in 1st ep where Principal Sodchuen says that Pobmek won’t be able to survive without solar , to him taking care of both solar & sun .
I love how this series involved psychological issues which are often overlooked , and the harsh truth of adulting
1) Pobmek - constant parental pressure , leading to self doubt , having to give up what u truly like , feeling guilty for being tired of taking care of loved one
2) Solar -past trauma , feeling neglected, guilt of being born ,
3) JEE - ocd often overlooked
4) solar mom - post pregnancy depression
I loved how the progression of charcters throughout the story . It was an emotion roller coaster , the acting was top notch . Perth , Santa did an amazing job throughout the series , and not to forget the child actor so cute and talented.
This series made me feel all kind of emotions one second i was laughing and the other sec I was crying my eyes out . Thank you so much to everyone to make me feel like this . This series healed something inside me .

Furthermore, the series at times approaches its modern-monarchy premise with excessive seriousness, which may undermine its plausibility.
Where other contract-marriage dramas like 2006's 'Princess Hours' lean into lighthearted escapism, playful misunderstandings, and a tone drenched in warm nostalgia and humor, Perfect Crown opts for a more mature and dramatic approach. The palace politics are front and center, often eclipsing the swoony romance with shadowy maneuvering and tense power plays. Themes of class, legacy, and ambition carry a sharper edge here than in fluffier stories like 'Lovely Runner', which revel in emotional catharsis and youthful fantasy. Viewers tuning in for pure escapist fun may find the atmosphere heavier and more intricate, as Perfect Crown is less interested in wish fulfillment and more in the costs of ambition and the realities of social barriers. Still, the chemistry and character dynamics have just enough sparkle to keep the tone engaging, even when the plot takes itself seriously.
Lastly, Perfect Crown is an absolute feast for the eyes. Directed by Park Joon-hwa (Alchemy of Soul), the series boasts incredible production design. The blending of traditional Korean architecture with sleek, high-tech Seoul skyscrapers is seamless. The costume design alone, mixing traditional silhouettes with high-end contemporary fashion, is worth the watch. One especially striking scene unfolds during a moonlit palace banquet, where IU steps out in a jet-black hanbok fused with shimmering velvet panels and minimalist golden embroidery—instantly becoming an icon of the show's luxe aesthetic. Another memorable visual highlight is the glass-walled throne room, where ancient calligraphy scrolls frame the panoramic city lights, creating a breathtaking clash of old and new. These standout moments make every episode a visual spectacle.
In conclusion, Perfect Crown is comfort television with high-end cinematic production values. It may not offer a sociologically precise critique of class, and its writing can occasionally feel like a vehicle for showing off its stunning leads. However, if you're looking for a fluttering romance, gorgeous aesthetics, and a fun twist on the contract-marriage trope, IU and Byeon Woo-seok make this a ride well worth taking. This drama is especially ideal for fans of slow-burn romance, those who enjoy palace intrigue and elaborate visual storytelling, as well as viewers drawn to strong, complex female leads. Best Comedy, Thriller, SCI-FI, Romance & Supernatural Kdrama of 2026
This is how a kdrama should be. Insane plot with great acting. The chemistry between all leads is insane. None of these episodes includes any boring scenes; each episode is damn interesting.Park Eun Bin is such an excellent actress, as is Cha Eun Woo, and the other main leads, and all the other characters also did a great job in this drama. The chemistry between Fl and his 2 frds is so interesting and hilarious. The romance between the FL & ML is so cute and sweet. I love how these 3 frds (FL and her 2 frds) are clinging to the ML. ML is quiet and calm, unlike our 3 crazy frds.
Spoiler: Especially their interesting superpowers, Ml's power is so cool, and the Fl gained the immorality, her wounds can heal in a few seconds if she got hurt, and can come back to life no matter how many times she died, like an immortal, also she can teleport to anywhere, not only in her country but also can teleport to any other country with her power, so cool. also her frds's powers are interesting, one is strong and the other can sticked to anything and can walk on walls, roofs ( upside down or ....) etc..,
Spoiler: My most hurtful scene is the ML betraying the FL and handing her over to the villains. But yhh, he had a personal reason for the betrayal; still, it hurts. Fl trusted him a lot; even her frds believed him, and all called him "Master." But yhh ML later went again with FL's 2 frds to save the FL. The process of saving the FL is so hilarious.
There are so many scenes that I can't even control my laughter. I enjoyed this drama so much, so funny. Betrayal, love, and friendship gained my attention so much, I really love the friendship between the FL and her 2 frds. Also, I love the FL and her grandma's relationship; her grandma loves FL so much, more than her life.
Spoiler: One of the most hilarious scenes: There's a scene of FL's 2 frds disposing of FL's body after she died accidentally (her first time dying before gaining the superpower). FL and her 2 frds planned an act of kidnapping and blackmail to get money from FL's grandma. The act: FL's 2 frds pretended to kidnap FL ( FL is the mastermind behind this plan) and made a video by recording her begging her grandma to send money to the kidnappers, and she can come back home safely. It's a plan made by these 3. FL has heart disease. (She can die at any moment, but she didn't tell anyone, including her 2 frds and her grandma. FL planned this kidnapping scene to get money to go on a trip before she died, her grandma is so rich ) In the process, when her 2 frds were watching the recording, FL's heart beat so fast & died on the spot. When 2 frds called her, FL didn't respond. After knowing she had died, they cried, and a lot happened there, but 1 frd got afraid that the police would arrest them for murdering her even though they didn't do anything. Her 2 frds planned to dispose of her body, and when they were going to dispose of her body, they were caught by the ML. And FL's body rolled down into a chemicals-filled pit, and in a few minutes, her body had disappeared. ML called the police, and they all were exposed to the chemicals in the pit and gained superpowers, but not everyone could get them; mostly, they died if they were exposed to the chemicals. Only a few could survive, and even fewer could get powers. When the ML explained how FL's 2 frds disposed of her body, police asked "did you see the face of the body? " and he told them the FL's name. Every villager knows her, and even the police know her. When the ML told them her name, the police asked him, "Is that her standing behind you?" he looked back & told, "Yeah, that's her," and again looked back and noticed that she came to life. Even her frds got confused and couldn't believe what happened. Upon seeing FL come back to life, one of her friends fainted. This scene is so hilarious, even though my explanation looks scary, you need to watch this. This drama is so enjoyable.
The ending is so good, and FL could save all of her villagers before they got exposed to the chemicals. And ML and FL got together, and our FL & her other 2 crazy frd got closer, in the end, all villains who got superpowers died, but the crazy scientist who made these chemicals didn't die, even though all thought he died.
I think there will be 2nd season because the crazy scientist ( the mastermind behind these) didn't die. One of his daughters ( not biologically, one of the experimented children) gave a chemical to see whether he would survive after he severally burned and was near death. It shows he died, but in the last minutes showed that the crazy scientist didn't really die & instead all his burned wounds got healed, like he's also gained immortality. I'm not sure about that, but sure, he didn't die, and he also got superpowers.
Worth watching and waiting for the 2nd season.

I am a give fan of this drama I mean sometimes I don’t want much drama or 6 episodes for anyone of them starting to notice other Yes they do take time building reln but what I mean is constantly a bit affection from both sides and them getting close is shown. SPOILER ALERT ! !!!, see now when title is taken from her she doesn’t chase and many episodes in how to get title back etc it’s focused a bit on there dynamic than that of more common CEO chasing position from enemy dynamic that’s why I loveee itWas this review helpful to you?
Horrible watch!
Complete waste of time.The entire seasons are solely focused on the main actor. The rest of the supposed 'gang' have little or no back story.
Their presence in the show was pointless. And the writers... honestly? Don't get me started with the horrible narrative they try to push unto us, the audience. The women were pitiful. Every episode reeks misogyny. Never again should all those writers ever pick up a pen or whatever to write down another story. Washed-up story lines, rinsed, and recycled plot. The acting was below par. Everyone was in their comfort zone. Doing the barest minimum. There was nothing refreshing about the entire show. The worst thing to ever happen in Pinoy series history. I've never watched anything as bad as this, and I survived Ang Probisayano. But honestly, they're not so far apart. I wouldn't recommend this at all. Stay away from this for your sanity!

i literally have nothing bad to say about this show. it is easily one of the best shows ive ever watched. if anyone is considering watching this, definitely do! it's so worth it and SO UNDERRATED.i will be honest and say that i cried in every episode!
and of course, we'll miss nong sun so much.
the representation of different mental health topics is what really pulled me into this show. there's representation of ocd, depression, age regression (a way of the brain to cope with traumatic events) and it is done SO WELL.
this show has love, sadness, found family, everything you could possibly think of, all combined into a masterpiece.

i really really REALLY hope santa gets many awards for this role, i can't imagine how hard it was to play as both solar and sun, but he absolutely killed it. he's so freaking talented and I'm so hyped for any of his upcoming works, i know he can never disappoint. the panic attack scene, the distinct acting from when he switched between solar and sun, everything was absolute talent!
perth also, nailed it. im sure so many people can relate with pobmeks situation, getting compared with other people of your age, your parents trying to control your whole lives, not being able to ask for help even when you're stuck and just feeling like you're not good enough for anything. perth really nailed those feelings!
pobmek and solar are really the greenest flag couple ive seen, they helped each other get better, through thick and thin. even when pobmek was exhausted, mentally and physically, he still took care of sun/solar. solar taught pobmek that it's okay to ask for help when things aren't easy. they just complete each other <3 their domestic, lovey dovey moments will be engraved in my brain.
also kay and sammy, oh my god.
teacher jee and p' sodcheun are integral parts of the story, without them, it would've been very hard for pobmek to deal with everything. pobmek, solar, jee and sodcheuns friendship means everything to me.
jee and the ocd representation is really heartwarming to see, as someone with ocd, i rarely see a character with ocd, so this was a treat for me! while jees reactions do seem too exaggerated sometimes, it's honestly how i would feel on the inside in a similar situation. i also love pobmek and jees friendship. it really makes you think of how pobmek hated jee only because of his mother and not actually because jee was perfect. it shows another side of the story of how he was pitted against jee just because his mother had really high expectations from him. (also, some of the funniest scenes were the kids shipping pobmek and jee HAHAHAHA)
principal sodcheun and her outfits had me in awe EVERYTIME. honestly i loved everyone's outfits, but hers would always catch my eye, so over the top BUT IN AN ABSOLUTE GORGEOUS WAY. p' sammy once again, giving me a really memorable character even while not being the main. I'll keep coming back to see p' sodcheun for her iconic style and funky hairstyles 😭😭😭🫶
the kids all did so well! the series would feel incomplete. every kid had a distinct personality and i loved them all. the four and king duo is probably my favourite though, really remind me of me and my bestfriend when we were in 2nd grade together hahahahah.
also special mention to the child actor (im sorry I forgot his name!) playing nong sun, he did so well! such a talented kid :)) ive seen him in duang with you too. he always plays such traumatised characters but does it soososo well.
seeing him smiling with pobmek and solar at the beach in the last episode really warmed my heart. they're a complete family because sun will always be there with solar, in his heart and of course, with pobmek <3
im really emotional, but I'm so proud of perthsanta for this, this will really be one of their most memorable projects for me.
also I WAS NOT EXPECTING SEAKEEN?? but oh my god, they really fit those characters!!!! they're sooosososo cute as tharawayu. id love to see a spinoff of love you teacher, with seakeen <3
overall, like i said, there's nothing bad about this series. it's such a shame that gmmtv has this geoblocked in almost every country, so it didn't get as popular as it should've. but that doesn't stop me from loving it! i waited for MONTHS for this to be released and I'm really glad to say it didn't disappoint me at all. it will be a really memorable show for me. it's ingrained in my mind that i cried 10 times (every episode) THEY SAID IT WAS A ROMCOM (ahahahaha but I'm not complaining, i love me some angst).

Completely Obsessed. It's Truly a Jade
This drama is amazingly crafted! From the actors to the environment and story buildup, everything was an absolute satisfaction to watch. With the first episode to the last, it will keep you engaged and entertained. The story follows Fan Changyu (Tian Xiwei), a kind and strong willed pig butcher who rescue Xie Zheng (Zhang Linghe), a fallen noble on a revenge quest, as they entered into a fake marriage to save each other, they find true love, friendship and trust in each other.This drama is amazing not because of the beautiful and handsome actors and actresses. I mean, they are the extra sweetness of this drama, but the main core is how the story was given to us. The words and phrases plus each scene delivery that is chosen for each character builds the story piece by piece, slowly giving you that savory taste of wanting to just click next for each episode.
Each and every character is nicely fleshed out. Xie Zheng is a typical male lead I can find in every drama; cold on the outside, sweet and warm inside, great at fighting, smart and rich. Fan Changyu, on the other hand is a rare gem character. She’s innocent yet deadly. Her wisdom is not determined by her education. Her love is mature. I usually don't care about villians but this drama made them very watchable.
This drama is so complete that there's really nothing to "complain" about. Would I rewatch it? In a heart beat without a doubt.

I came upon this movie by chance and was surprised by how good it is.This is exactly the kind of movie worth watching in the cinema: entertaining, fast-paced, filled with action, impressive CGI, a good story, and cool characters. Creative and emotional, it also explores a very relevant topic — AI.
Wang Hedi’s performance here is incredibly cool.😎

It is a gripping story that starts out fun but gradually becomes much more serious. The film feels both futuristic and surprisingly relevant. At its core, it explores one of today’s most fascinating and unsettling topics — the relationship between artificial intelligence and humans.
Just go and watch it. It is 100 % worth your time!

2016 is back?
As we all know 2016 was the peak of Kdrama and even before or after that there were so many amazing shows that touched our hearts.But honestly? This year? It feels like I’m back in 2016 again with the kdramas and Perfect crown is one of them hits.
The acting, music, THE STORY. The plot was deep yet the storytelling didn’t disappoint honestly. The romance plot was also done so elegantly fitting for the storyboard, and the ENDING touched my heart.
Disclaimer: For this review, i went in based on the fact that the drama’s main genre is ‘romance’ ‘romcom’.
And little fangirling here:
More so the SUPPORTING ACTORS are INSANE for their ACTING cause oof girl SFL,, i just can’t hate the woman, antagonist (even though he damn hot) MAI GAWD HIS CHARACTER MADE ME WANNA GO THROUGH THE SCREEN AND GIVE HIM A REALITY CHECK. The little king? SUCH A CUTIE PLEASE DON’T CRY EVERY AGAIN.
And the real MVP of this drama is FL’s BROTHER AND SISTER IN LAW, OMG THEY REALLY,,, EVERY TIME THEY COME ON SCREEN I JUST LOVE THEM.
The Aide couple are EVERYTHING AHHAHHA
Our FL and ML didn’t fall behind they were such a great couple together and their chem was off charts ooof.
Okay conclusion:
All in all the story didn’t let even the supporting characters fall behind, every character was properly shown and didn’t take over the storyboard nor the plot. The storytelling left nothing behind and what started elegantly maintained that tone throughout. Though i would argue there are some crumbs that I’m more curious as the audience,
1) what ever happened to SML?
2) who was the person that SIL had planted in the palace?
3) SFL said she’s protect the fam of the person who poisoned the tea cup… i almost thought they were trying to say the little king was her child instead but ended up it’s just so she can testify,,, but on what ground did she agree to testify though?
4) who killed the mother of ML? Did the ML really die from the fire or did he set the fire himself? Cause it didn’t make sense to me? The king sent the box and written will to I-AN but how did he send it without anyone noticing the fire?
5) I’m curious on what Lee Wan is good at that doesn’t include managing the country xD
Apart from these crumbs,,, i see a lot of comments thinking why the monarchy had to be abolished,,,
It had to be or else the plot wont make sense? Huiju didn’t want the noble title, she wanted her opportunity to get the company under her name, for that she either would have to divorce Lee Wan if the monarchy stands, but it’s a romance genre, divorce is a no go, so abolish the monarchy, simple. Remember the whole thing started cause FL said ‘wtf why am i missing opportunity just cause I’m not born into a title?’

Byeon Wooseok's wardrobe was amazing. He always looked like the prince he was meant to play but I don't think IU's did. She was to be a chaebol and her wardrobe although pretty, it didn't always suit her, especially the color; and don't make me talk about those horrible nails they put on her again, and again. the dullest most horrible color they could find and they also looked like they were done badly.
now, with all that said, I am waiting for it to have Spanish dub so I can put it for my mom because it was THAT good.

She's right, Stoics are lame. Get lost, Zeno of Citium !I've always seen this actress in supporting roles ; I don't mean to be mean, but it's easy to see why. (who am I to say this ?) With her porcelain skin and her mother-of-pearl face perched atop a mantis's neck, she's the only one we see on the screen, but she doesn't have a particularly wide range as an actress. In this case, we're not asking for much either. It's a light-hearted, lovely and cute romance. Ok, it touches on subjects like suicide, domestic violence and child abandonment... but at the end of the day, it's a feel-good, funny series. Yes...
A super-basic story and unbearable music. No real stakes : everything was fine, actually. Ideal for times of intense anxiety.
_The two teenagers competing for their grades are just too cute. They show more maturity than the adults.

Everything was "Perfect" except the story!
You know, I usually don't care about English titles, but "Perfect Crown" was a bad choice after watching the finale.The original "Wife of a 21st Century Prince" would actually fit the story more, not only because the crown wasn't perfect, but because she was actually married to a 21st century prince. Like, what makes this crown perfect? The crown doesn't even exist anymore.
Why couldn't this drama deliver with a cast like this? You can find the reason if you look at the writer. Her being a rookie isn't a good excuse. This isn't a complicated story, just another romcom. This has nothing to do with episode number either. You can give a writer 5 or 50 episodes. If they can't develop characters and build up their journey properly in 12 episodes, they won't be able to do it if you give them more. This is just a typical Kdrama fan way of thinking that quantity can solve problems, but in reality fans only want to see their favorite lead characters longer. It's not about the story.
So, let's see the actual story and how the writer demolished pretty much every character in "Perfect Crown" just like Ian demolished monarchy.
We have a strong, smart, and independent female lead who runs her own business. She's the richest woman in the country, but people in her inner circle don't respect her because she's not married to a nobleman. At least that's what the writer tries to tell us, but we've never seen this. So, she decides she's going to marry the prince for his status. Eventually she falls in love too obviously, just as Ian has loved her since their school days. The minute they fall in love, our dear female lead, Huiju, forgets her goal and her pride and says things like, "I never wanted status." This is basically a character suicide. It's one thing to move on from your original plan because you're in love now, but to say such a thing screams incompetent writing skills or at least ignorance.
Why do I care about writing when this is just a romcom? I can already hear you asking this. I didn't expect hardcore politics and scheming, but I want a well written script where the story actually makes sense, and I won't ask, "Why does this character do this?" There's no buildup to anything; they're just doing things because they have to.
I think it's safe to say the only character in the drama whose arc is logical is Ian, because when he wanted to be a king, he couldn't get it, and when he had a chance, he wanted to demolish it because it people were hurting each other over it. Not that this was explained throughout the season effectively, but at least it wasn't surprising. I have to be honest, Ian as a character is one of the most uninteresting male leads I've seen in a while. I never felt like he had plans; he was just there because he was the lead and things happened.
We've had 3 villains in 12 episodes, or did we? At first, the writer introduced the queen mother to us as a power-hungry, abusive mother of her 7 year old king. She obviously killed the late king, the father of her own child, but we never get a real explanation about this either. If anything, episodes later they were trying to convince us that she didn't do anything bad at all. So, a woman who killed her husband, not to mention wanted to burn her own son alive, got a redemption arc. Why not, right?
Now, our 2nd antagonist, who became one because everyone expected him to be. Everyone's favorite Jinmu. I don't remember if we've seen him till halfway or had any lines. Then, around episode 6 or so, they tried to convince everyone he was the culprit behind everything bad that happened. Again, a totally random villain arc without any buildup.
Here comes the worst of them all. The guy had more charisma than any other man in this drama, yet the writer managed to ruin his character arc completely and made him your average jealous teen boy who could burn down an entire country for a woman who never loved him more than a friend. Prime Minister Min could've been a great villain, but the creators chose to make him a third-wheeling, angry cat. He was basically like Anakin Skywalker, who wanted to reach the sky but couldn't walk. I always wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt because I was too naive and thought the writer might pull off something interesting, like he was just a double agent of Ian. Sadly, she just didn't care because she knew most people wouldn't pay attention to the story if the two main leads could carry the drama for her.
If there's one positive I can mention about this drama, it's the cast and their acting. They did a great job, especially the female actors, and they carried a bang-average (at best) script.
If I have to be really honest, the female characters did the heavy lifting because pretty much every male character was useless and boring or both.
Is there anything left? Well, I have to mention a couple of things for the last part.
We've had multiple plotlines, but almost everything was unanswered, or it was finished in a hurry.
What happened to the prime minister? He's probably in jail, but they spent so much time on things that aren't important at all; they didn't have any time left to actually mention the relevant things.
Who killed Ian's parents, or was that just an accident? How did Ian get the king's letter? How did Queen Mother get Huiju and Ian's contract? Who tried to kill Huiju? How can everyone burn down the palace so many times, and no firefighter goes in to save people except the main leads?
Why on Earth would the richest woman, who said she wants to marry a man who's not below her quality, stick to a man who can't, sorry, doesn't want to find a job for himself for 3+ years? Did Ian deal with some politics, or was he just signing contracts without reading them? Why did he never ask his wife or her dad to help him find a job at least?
I mean, if Ian were not the male lead, everyone would call him a red flag and a loser. A guy who wanted to demolish monarchy is now a housewife who can't cook, can't clean, and I don't think can do anything.
I'm sorry, but being a romcom doesn't excuse a female for forgetting her priorities just because she's in love. Everyone else got a job; even Hyeon runs a flower shop. I'm sure even the ex-Prime Minister guy has a job in prison.
I forgot to mention this, but why do Huiju and Ian still live in the palace's private residence? I guess the budget was low in the finale, so Huiju couldn't buy a new house because the ex-prince cost a lot of money.
To be honest, I could go on all day, but I don't see the point; I'm just too angry. "Perfect Crown" could've been an actually good drama with a good writer who could do more than just fan service.
This is the disappointment of the year so far.

Ghosts, Giggles, and Great Chemistry — A Surprisingly Fun Ride
What I loved the most was the dynamics between the ghosts and Yeon Seok. Every ghost story was interesting in its own way, especially the stories of the kid, his dad, and the scientist husband. Their stories felt emotional and memorable.Esom did a really good job with the enemies-to-lovers trope. Usually this trope can feel boring or repetitive, but here it was handled very well. Her yearning moments genuinely made me giggle, lol.
As for the downside, the villains were not very challenging or engaging. It felt like the writer treated them more as side plots rather than major threats. Still, they did their part well enough for the story.
Another strong point was the pacing. It never felt draggy to me, and the drama managed to keep me interested throughout.

Hard to decide who to fall for: Vayo or Blew?!?

Air is so promising, it's almost a sure-ball 💯💯💯💯!
AIR Ep 3 is Lt Vayo's from start to end! It's a showcase moment for Freen, one after another: The camera work simply said, "Lom is so pretty-handsome from any angle, in whatever circumstances, at whatever time of day or night!" She can huff'n'puff all around, and not look tired or haggard at all!
And Fai, oh "cutie-fai" Fai is becoming more and more charming in every chapter of the 4 ELEMENTS!
Kudos to the writing team of NORTHSTAR ENTERTAINMENT, as every chapter seamlessly flows together, without any awkward or dissonant moments. It's hard enough to handle and direct an ensemble cast, but to make seven (until Fai finds her match) ladies who are so different from each other perform so amazingly wonderful on-screen, like a well-rehearsed orchestra? That's a feat that's one step away from a "miracle"! Keep up the good work, Northstar! Great work, FreenBecky, Englot, and AppleRose!!!
4E:AIR Ep 4 - Hmmm, those extreme close-ups! Freen's skin is flawless!! Anyway, back to the series... Casting P'Nam as the ever-present incarnation of every Bua imaginable is pure genius! She's surely pushing all of Blew's wrong buttons, pushing Blew to be competitive about Lom.... Ep 4 shows AIR won't be a slow-burn love story like EARTH and WATER were, but let's look forward to hurdles and challenges, as there are four more episodes before FIRE takes over.
AIR ep 4 is a 10/10 as "Vayo's 'Let's Tour Thailand' Show," with special guest, the Princess of Madelin, aka "Para Paraan Blew". With special appearance of Bua as "Multo" 🇵🇭😁
Why does ep 6 of 4E:AIR feel so short?! Run, get shot, survive, run, Vayo confesses that she's in love with the princess, Princess says she might not be able to reciprocate Vayo's feelings, run, get shot again?!?! And the teaser for the next episode shows that Princess Blew was abducted by Grace and Helena! Huwatta cliffhanger!! I pressed play, blinked twice, and suddenly the credits were rolling and my heart was a frantic little hummingbird trapped in a royal dungeon. This episode didn’t just fly by; it somersaulted through my emotions, pausing only to twist the knife before sprinting off again.
Can we just pause the palace intrigue for a moment and admit that Episode 6 should have played out more romantically? The bones of something breathtaking were right there, dressed in hospital linens and soft lighting. Vayo, usually so stoic and duty-bound, trembling as she lays her heart bare for the princess she’s sworn to protect — that confession deserved to be an event, not a breathless footnote squeezed between two near-death experiences. I wanted the love confession to be incidental, yes, but in the sense of a quiet miracle that happens while the world outside waits. A hushed, stolen moment that feels like a must-have event before the kingdom’s enemies crash through the gates. Instead, it was almost a survival reflex — “We might die, so I love you,” followed immediately by “We might still die, so let me process that while we run.” I felt robbed of the ache.
The heartwarming atmosphere of those lingering looks and shy smiles in the hospital should’ve been sustained for more butterflies-in-the-stomach feels. When Vayo watched the princess with that unbearable tenderness, and Princess Blew, ever composed, allowed a flicker of something soft to slip past her royal mask… I was melting. I was a puddle on the palace floor, ready to be swept away by the quiet domesticity of bandages and shared secrets. I wanted the camera to linger, for a stray finger to brush a hand, for a silence to stretch into a promise. Give me the slow-burn, the small gestures, the romance that builds like dawn over the kingdom — not a flash-bang confession that leaves me emotional and slightly dizzy. My romantic heart was crying out for just five more minutes of them, not running, not bleeding, just being two people on the precipice of something monumental.
But then again, I have to remind myself what show I’m watching. 4E:AIR is so unlike EARTH and WATER in the sense that AIR deals with royalty and not the hoi polloi. Earth and Water can dawdle in marketplaces, bicker over street food, and fall in love in the messy, unhurried chaos of ordinary life. Air carries a crown on its head and a target on its back. Love here isn’t just a flutter; it’s a geopolitical matter with a body count. So a more no-nonsense approach to the love angle must be explored and executed, and episode 6 delivered that with a sword in one hand and a love letter crumpled in the other. It’s tough, it’s urgent, and it stings. Vayo’s confession wasn’t perfectly timed because she didn’t have the luxury of timing. She seized a sliver of vulnerability between arrows, and that’s so painfully them — a warrior’s heart speaking in the only gap the plot would allow. Princess Blew’s honest, heartbreaking “might not be able to feel the same way” wasn’t cruelty; it was the weight of a thousand subjects and a lineage that demands she feel less to survive more. It hurt, but I understood.
The cheeky part of me still wants to file a formal complaint with the writing gods for that cliffhanger. Princess Blew abducted by Grace and Helena? Huwatta twist indeed! Now my girl is in the hands of villains while Vayo is probably bleeding out her feelings somewhere, and I’m supposed to just wait for the next episode? This show runs on audacity and my tears, and I’m providing both in abundance. The sentimental part of me, though, is clutching my chest and hoping beyond hope that this chaos ultimately gives Vayo and the princess the space to choose each other properly. If they can survive treason, bullet wounds, and kidnappings, surely they deserve one uninterrupted sunset where no one is chasing them.
In the end, I’ll take this breakneck romance because it’s honest to who they are. A love story between a bodyguard and a princess in a kingdom under siege can’t be all picnics and poetry; it’s whispered confessions while your hands are still trembling from the trigger, and loyal eyes meeting across a war room. Episode 6 might have left my romantic heart a little bruised and begging for more stolen glances, but it also reminded me that when Princess Blew finally says “I love you too,” it won’t just be sweet — it’ll be a rebellion. And I’ll be right here, cheekily nursing my butterfly deficit but sentimentally rooting for them with everything I’ve got. Now please, let the next episode come quickly, because I can’t handle the thought of these two separated by anything but a slow, lingering, finally-uninterrupted love scene.
If there's one thing remarkable about the story of 4 ELEMENTS - apart from the romantic arcs of each of the leads - it's the amazing bond among the four cousins, especially between the two youngest ones, Lom and Fai. The two older ones have the onus of responsibility resting upon their shoulders - Din runs the farm like clockwork, Nam is no longer little boss but is already the big boss of hotels and resorts, but Lom and Fai get to do fun "stuff" that come with the recklessness of youthful abandon. Yet the bonds among these four are so palpable, they're even thicker than sibling bonds - They'd give their lives for each other in a heartbeat! THAT is what makes 4ELEMENTS not just a star-studded sapphic extravaganza, but moreso a touching family drama.
The entire episode 7 of AIR is mah fave! I'm not sure if it's because FB's my favorite, but I think AIR is the best so far.... I know it's not right & it ain't fair to compare AIR to WATER and EARTH, but all the twists and turns and the emotional rollercoaster that they wring out of our chest and gut make AIR one exciting ride.... Which we know would eventually end with "happily ever after".
4E:AIR is like a Disney fairy tale turned live action movie turned Asian adaptation.... FreenBecky for the win!
