Lightweight series to pass time

This miniseries is based off of a manga by the same name and also has an anime by the same name, I've read/seen neither so I won't compare them. I watched this miniseries because I myself do carpentry and a bunch of other things thanks to the gift from God, YouTube. Because of this though I did spot several odd choices but that's beyond the scope of this review and most are nitpicks anyways.
Story was extremely easy to follow, so for an idiot like me that's very welcomed; no ridiculous drama, complex relationships, deep lore, etc. just a group of girls that enjoy making things themselves (a dying passion in the modern world I find). Each character was obviously written around a central trope but considering the simplicity of the show it's acceptable, just wish some of them didn't try and act like anime characters lmao.
The technical aspects of the show is apparently average for J-Drama of today: poor colour grading (ex. skin tone is the same colour as the wall in some scenes, orange tint, an obscene amount of bloom, etc.) Good music, good camera work, enthusiastic acting, and more; it balances out to be good by my standards.
Anyways I recommend this to other DIYers or those who enjoy 0 drama series. This is certainly a show I'll rewatch a few times

A nice fantasy story

Oh my, I remember dying of love of Lee Jong Suk here... his first lead role and I was so nervous!! But he did it perfectly and the FL too. His character is so lovable!! And besides, I love fantasy dramas ^^
Enjoy!!!

PS. I was crazy about the music ?

Beautiful painful

When you read about the real story and you hear the voice of the real person soprano that recorded the song, this show takes another level: it hits you deep. I love Lee Jong Suk, and he made one of his best works here, in particular, the scene with his father. Highly recommended, short as it should, the essence of what could happen between this two lovers before they planned and agreed how tonend their story. Heartbreaking.

Not as good as The Penthouse

BUT acting is ON POINT. They really put everything they got on set.
I just found the story not as "good" in soap opera terms as The Penthouse. But I'm still watching until the end. I need to see those villians pay!

Mini series, very light and sweet

I hope more vibes like this one that the main actors gave to this drama will come to more dramas.
The female actress is truly unique, which I liked to see. Her comedy is on point and very funny! I would love to watch her do comedy again.
The male lead is also different from the typical male cast in dramas, which makes him special for that reason alone.
I really liked the pacing of the story.
I liked how the writer(s) avoided unnecessary mind games and showed the characters being pretty straightforward with their feelings and intentions.
The series is short but fun!

Perfect Novel Adaptation

I love this drama so much that I actually watched this several times. Everytime I finished watching the whole 39 episodes, I would continue the story by reading the novel.

This novel adaptation is so perfect, that when I read it, I have all the actors playing the scenes in my head. I think all the actors and actresses were perfectly cast.

Even though I ship Tushan Jing with Xiao Yao, my favourite character is actually Cang Xuan. The actor who plays him didn't win me at halo (He's not my definition of handsome) but oh boy, he totally nailed it. His strength are his micro expressions and his voice. His voice is just mesmerising, and I don't even understand Mandarin that much!!!!!!!

I can feel for the conflicted Cang Xuan. People might say it's his own doing which caused him to lose Xiao Yao (hence the title "Lost You Forever). But I feel like the choices he made, he did it to protect Xiao Yao - it wasn't just because he's power hungry (well he does want to conquer the world, he's not completely innocent haha). He needed to be powerful so when people find out who her real father is, he will be able to protect her. His struggles whenever he has to give his blessings to Xiao Yao's wedding(s) is just so real.

** SPOILER** When he agreed to the suicide pact with Xiao Yao, that was when I saw how much he loves Xiao Yao, that he would let go of being a King (and abandon the world) and he would choose to die if he doesn't have Xiao Yao. It was the only time he made a decision as himself. Yes, he's a bastard for killing Tushan Jing, but he was just fighting for the only woman he wants to be with (even though he was much too late for that as Xiao Yao's heart already completely belonged to Jing).

Yang Zi is just an amazing actress. The amount of tears I shed while watching this drama (and I watched this at least 5 times by now), wow!!!

The OSTs are also outstanding in my opinion. I find songs really do help to push some dramas from great to outstanding.

I would recommend this drama if you like to watch characters who are layered. You won't be disappointed!

Penthouse’s walmart version

ILL BE UPDATING AS THE DRAMA CONTINUES

You see, I don’t want to be rude or negative nancy here, but this drama is sooooo irritating I don’t think anyone in their right mind would watch this more than like half way. It tries to be penthouse but it’s literally just a bootleg version of it. It’s annoying because they quite literally almost copy it bar for bar, ( of course with a semi different plot ?????! ). But I probably won’t go through the full length of watching this since it’s literally aggravating me real bad, I don’t like anyoneeeee in this show. Not even the “protagonist” because she’s just so naive and stupid.( Which is why i’m so mad in this post)The plot is stupid as well, I just can’t. I mean I guess this is just my point of view, since me personally, I would never be in that situation so I can’t relate at all but it’s just everything is trying to hard to be penthouse is my main issue. But you don’t have to listen to me and not watch it since I will be continuing just for a bit to see if it gets better, and you can watch it and make you’re own judgement on it. This is just me spouting my anger to the drama haha.

stars only for rowoon

this was okay. the whole plot with the spells should’ve been more capitalized off of. only used in the beginning then basically forgotten about. didn’t feed into the fantasy aspect as much as i hoped it did. BUT rowoon and his puppy personality. omg and how he like chases after the FL ???THAT MADE THE DRAMA. ugh he’s actually so cute and i can see how much his acting has improved since extraordinary you (well in that one he literally was a 2d character and showed no emotion or anything so…) i loveeeed his personality in this so much. i love the he falls first but doesn’t want to trope. ugh and how he was obsessed with her. need. but other than that the rest was meh. everything pretty predictable, cliche “oh i knew u in my past life” and “oh we r destined to be together” stuff. so nothing exceptional. EXCEPT FOR JANG SINYU!!! would rewatch just for him.

short and sweet!!

Okay, obviously everyone is sad that this is so short, and I feel the same. I would've loved for this to have longer episodes or even more episodes (I'm def going to binge the sequel and special serieses tomorrow!!) But I haven't let that affect how I rated this show, because it doesn't really speak on what the show itself is like (well, beyond the quick plot obviously)

A'Ze and Jiang Zhaoyun are absolutely adorable, they had funny moments, sweet moments, and lots of cute moments. Their mutual crushing is so fun to watch, especially as someone who hasn't seen many GL shows/movies in general (including western media). They're both a bit hesitant and confused at times but things progress naturally for a fastburn and I loved how protective and kind they were to each other

Bai Ling's story was done interestingly and the little twist was not something I expected!! One of my favorite moments was when Zhaoyun kicked that guy in the face without even leaning back, amazing dkjfhsah

For being a web series, the visuals are really good, the outfits are cute, the makeup was nicely done! Literally can't think of any complaints. I also really enjoyed how all of the characters felt and looked like their own selves, even the ones that didn't have much screen time

Absolutely recommend this if you're ever wanting to see a GL, watch a quick xianxia, or both!

Female Friendships for the Win

I stumbled across this drama awhile back purely by accident, and somehow got hooked into watching the whole thing.
Its a story of 3 very different ladies and their trials and triumphs in life and love, and how they support each other throughout.
Gu Jia, the Type A supermom/superwife who tries to be on-point with everything (but at what cost), Wang Manni who is a single girl trying to make it in the big city and has certain standards she wants to meet whether in wealth/income or love (but there are no free lunches, good things must be worked for), and then there is Xiao Qin who I feel contrasts nicely with her 2 pals (as far as ambitions go anyway) and is your average 'i just want a simple, quiet, happy marriage' kind of girl (but perhaps has yet to learn what goes into a happy marriage).

Story: As an over-30 female, some of the difficulties these ladies face are very relatable, as is their friendship and how they support each other and cry it out with each other. I had a little bit of trouble following Wang Manni's storyline a little, and it may be because personality and background wise, she was the most unrelatable for me. The story is very well balanced in that while most of the events perspectives will be more from the ladies' POV, you do sometimes perceive see the guys' side of things (sometimes, and sometimes maybe the male character is just simply a playboy asshole) and can sympathize with them (to a degree). These ladies are flawed, and each of them go through different hardships to grow and improve themselves--i thought it might be too confusing essentially telling the stories of 3 women but its actually very well paced and melds together well, their close friendship being the glue that holds these 3 tales together. The messaging in the drama I think is also good and are things we should be cognizant of as we go through life too: being fair to yourself in relationships, not taking others (loved ones) for granted, maintaining integrity even if it seems its the harder path

Acting: I didn't really know any of the actors prior to watching this drama, but everything from the cast was solid. Sometimes with dramas, you can tell when the acting is a bit forced and it breaks the immersion. Did not have this issue at all with this drama, the leading ladies had me laughing and crying with them. Even Xu Huan Shan--this cheating scumbag husband...there were still moments i felt for him--the major characters aren't one dimensional after all--they are flawed, sometimes very flawed but there will be some good things about them, and some of the circumstances you can still understand WHY they react a certain way even if we condemn the action. One of the scenes that stuck with me (might be because its related to personal fears) was when Xiao Qin got into a random cab/uber car and the driver started heading an unfamiliar route to a more remote area. Her tension was palpable and it was like I could also feel her terror when she jumped out of the car, hid and then tried to navigate in the dark to someplace she could get cell service to call (cry) for help. And the intense relief flooding her when she was finally found

Music: Honestly, I don't remember the music too much. I think it just went well with the drama but its not like I would find myself humming the tunes like with other dramas with especially nice soundtracks

Rewatch: Worth rewatching if in the mood for these girl friendship/slice of life/growth dramas. I've only found myself in the mood to rewatch once but it was still enjoyable.

Overall: Really liked this drama, so glad I stumbled upon it. Generally I tend to stick with period dramas and watch fewer modern ones but this one is definitely worth it. Well paced, good script/story, good acting--can't ask for more.

Mediocre At Best

I was soooo looking forward to watching this because I've been wanting a good GL to watch and I had heard so much about it! Unfortunately, it was extremely mediocre. The entire plot was predictable, the characters were only sometimes likeable, and every conflict could have been resolved with a single conversation.

This was not a queer story. Yes, it had queer women as the main characters, but this exact storyline could have been done as a straight or BL romance. I wished the writers and directors focused more on the relationship dynamic between the two women and less on silly arranged marriage plotlines.

An Unforgettable Cinematic Experience: The Heartwarming Chemistry of the Lead Couple

The story is a masterpiece that combines various genres such as romance, comedy, action, adventure, mystery, thrillers, sci-fi, and fantasy in a perfect blend. The lead couple portrays an amazing chemistry that is both cute and heartwarming, while the villain is the character I despised the most, not because of the acting, but because of his excellently crafted villainous persona. His character was so well-written and portrayed that I couldn't help but hate him, and this added to the overall experience of the drama. I highly recommend this cinematic experience to anyone who loves to be immersed in a world of different genres and emotions.

I loved the show it was based off of (the Japanese one), but I legitimately can't stand the male lead in either version. He's such a disgusting, cringe character the entire time I was watching (which is 2 episodes), and I don't even really recall how he "redeems" himself during the series. He was constantly overstepping, did sexual harassment, and was so goddamn petty, the only reason he shone was so he could be flattened by Miss Kim in ridiculous ways. It sucks so much because I absolutely adore how Miss Kim handles herself, but just knowing that they're the main couple makes me nauseous. Plus, the fact that she purposely lost (episode 2) after all the stuff that guy said... It was just disappointing.

The entire show is within a 3 month period. You can't just slap off all the petty, narcissistic behavior he did and just call it romantic comedy because the female lead lets down her guard around this guy! Jeez.

Also, god, I hate his hair. She makes fun of it, but in the end, they still kept it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ LOL.

would like to see more episodes

Overall: this is an indie project and I hope they can continue the story. 3 episodes about 5 minutes each, aired on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@g3210/videos

Content Warnings: attempted sexual assault, non con kissing, non/dub con touching, vomiting

What I Liked
- the animations
- intro song
- different takes on tropes
- a few funny parts

Room For Improvement
- it was unclear who was doing the dreaming in the first episode
- established 1 character as straight and the other had a girlfriend
- the random assault while Dick was passed out
- needed more lighting
- subtitles were too small/hard coded

Fantasy Romantic Story

As an avid viewer, I was thoroughly engrossed in the story. The on-screen chemistry between Lee Gon and Tae Eul was nothing short of beautiful, and I found myself completely invested in their journey. The storyline was captivating, with an impressive blend of fantasy, romance, comedy, action, and adventure. However, as the story drew to a close, my enthusiasm dwindled. While the ending appeared to be happy, it left me feeling disappointed and unfulfilled. Despite this, I must say that it was a good story with a lot of potential, and I would recommend it to others - although with a caveat about the ending.
