Set in contemporary Hong Kong, a disillusioned hitman embarks on his last hit but first he has to overcome the affections of his cool, detached partner he rarely sees. Thinking it is dangerous and improper to become involved with a colleague, he tries to find a surrogate for his affections. Against the sordid and surreal urban nightscape, he crosses paths with a strange drifter looking for her ex-boyfriend and a mute trying to get the world's attention in his own ways.

Hong Kong in 1995, the ideal setting for a science fiction film. With the imminent acquisition of the city by the Chinese in July 1997 there apocalyptic mood. The laws were long substituted whether it be the laws of the film that claim a certain structure of action, which, however, is completely absent in practice here, whether they are those of morality or good taste. Where there was the Chungking Express, the predecessor of Fallen Angels, feelings of still silent love and a place circulated to all prevails in the last void of Wong Kar-Wai's film and disorientation. People live in monotonous hotel rooms where the vorbeirattert high train to spend the nights with walks mostly aimlessly through the city, brightly colored past neon lights that never go out, as it seems to be eternal night in this movie. From time to time, people who have no history and their thoughts are empty phrases to find.
Life in Hong Kong, the future is a pain that does not seem to be cultivated, despite all coldness. There is the killer who always chases in a body dance flying his work, as is his long-legged partner whose love remains unrequited and the totally unexpected but still find something affection in the end, and there are the dumb, the night shops to impose their passersby services. And there are others that are presented without any sympathy.
