"I have a lover" is a drama that plays with many of the usual plots of k-drama land. It has the twins that haven't met each other (one more selfish and one more naive), family revenge, betrayal, and more. I think that these should not be seen as negative aspects of this drama, whereas as its strong points. I was against the betrayal referred to the title at first because it is the main subject of the whole drama, but it helped the protagonists realize what was important and revalue their life choices, so it had its meaning in the end.
I started watching it because I love dramas with twins, and the story that this one told was intriguing and you never knew where it would go. It was quite long since it was a weekend drama, but the story keeps on refreshing every 10 episodes or so. It's like it's divided in batches of 10 because each batch deals with a "problem" and then moves forward and tries to deal with other intricated stuff that needs time to be resolved. Some things move at a slow pace while others are faster, so for those who like quick development maybe this drama would look boring and stalling a bit, but after all it has 50 episodes so it cannot go fast all the time. The changes in the characters were more believable like this, but there are some outcomes I am not happy with because the writer left some loose ends in regards of side characters, but if you're looking for a happy end for the main couple, you can find it in this drama despite they don't start with the right foot.

The main couple, played by Ji Jin Hee and Kim Hyun Joo was the strongest point of this drama. She plays the twins and is able to pull off the selfish one and the good one very well, even if my favorite was the "evil" one because she had a multi-dimensional personality. We see her evolve a lot in the drama and become a better person, along with her husband played by Ji Jin Hee. The husband, Choi Jin Eon, started off as a kind-hearted man with a soft spot for weak people, and this is not usually the type of man I like in a drama because he is a doormat. He changes a bit during the drama and gets tougher. I liked the story of his character with Do Hae Gang because they rebuilt their love from the ashes, but sometimes they argued too much for my taste and it seemed that we got back to square one (although I think the couple dynamic was meant to be like that).

I guess if you like drama dealing with revenge, secrets, business, you won't have a problem watching 50 episodes. But if you're looking for something romantic with a bit of comedy, this is not the drama for you. I have a lover is a melodrama and has its light moments, but the dramatic ones overpower them.

Sigh

I believe in the theory of six degrees of separation as much as the next person; however, the sheer number of coincidental meetings between ALL the main characters just left me gobsmacked.

The ex-wife had an identical twin sister whom she'd never met but suddenly they run into each other at a car park and end up switching cars. The ex-wife is on the verge of a breakdown and the twin is heavily pregnant and was being pursued by dangerous people who wanted her dead, instead, it's the ex-wife who gets pushed down a ravine. Even though she survived she had no memory of her past and when she runs into a guy who turns out to be an ex-boyfriend, he took her into his home and gave her employment at his law firm.

It turns out this ex-bf is the brother of the woman who had an affair with ex-wife's ex-husband. Ex-husband is the CEO of the company that employed the pregnant twin and it was ex-husband's brother-in-law who had attempted to murder the pregnant twin.

Still with me?

Ex-husband's BIL had a brother who was a doctor who rented a room from the ex-wife's mother. The pregnant twin had by now given birth to a daughter who needed serious medical care for a rare disease and it just so happened that only the BIL's brother offered this treatment.

Even writing this review is making me chuckle because what in the af were the writers inhaling?

Anyway, now the ex-husband sees his ex-wife, only she's lost her memories and no longer remembers him. Meanwhile, he's still dating the woman (the aforementioned sister of the ex-BF who took ex-wife in) with whom he'd had the affair, and this woman was hell-bent on ensuring only she got the ex-husband.

And so the wheels went round and around for fifty episodes. Rinse and repeat. I was cursing the me who decided it was a good idea to watch this. Oh, well.

Emotional love story

About the cheating tag
-----------------------------
In my opinion, what happens at the beginning of this drama is not cheating: the FL knows the ML doesn’t want to be with his cold wife anymore, but she doesn’t accept the divorce. This is different from being in a relationship in which you believe your spouse loves you, but then cheats.

Not accepting to divorce when one spouse knows the other truly wants to, is in my opinion unacceptable, but fortunately, and unlike South Korea, there are about 80 countries whose laws offer ways out of this predicament with no-fault type of divorce, that allows only one of the spouses to file and be granted the divorce without going to court.

We know how many centuries had to pass to get laws that protect women from undesirable marriages. One of my uncles in Spain never agreed to divorce and my aunt couldn’t even be in another relationship, until the law was changed in the 80s. I can’t even imagine her impotence.

I wonder, if the roles were reversed and the FL was the one married to an unfeeling jerk who opposes the divorce, how the comments about infidelity in the MDL chatroom would have been.

In my case, in the first episodes I wanted to get rid of the FL probably more than the ML did, and since Koreans can’t divorce unless both agree, or determined by a court, I would have done anything to force her to sign it. But the FL grew after losing her memory, recognized her past wrongdoings in her job and with her husband, and their love story became very deep.
--------------------------------
About my rating

This is a soap opera, not my favorite genre, but I fell in love with the main couple’s love story, great chemistry, very emotional, all the nuances of it were very well done (even more after ep. 11). I found myself binge-watching it, barely sleeping during one weekend, because I needed to know what would happen next, despite the typical villains with family and corporate intrigues.

It has too many episodes, but I’ll probably rewatch those parts that I liked the most about their love story.

Hmm, I'm not really sure how to rate this drama. I guess somewhere between 7.5-8 would be most accurate. Always nice to see dramas with Kim Hyun Joo, She's a gem. The leads had decent chemistry. It certainly wasn't the best, but not the worst either. The twin sister and the "aloof" doctor were my favourite to watch. Their scenes were funny and charming. The fl's twin, in general, was a breath of fresh air and made the drama a lot more entertaining. Props to Kim Hyun Joo, as she essentially played 3 different characters in this drama. As soon as they were no longer in the show, the drama became kind of boring. (I don't really understand why they left them out of the drama when they did.)

Episode 45 onwards dragged on a little too much and I feel like there were unnecessary plot developments. Prior to ep 45, though, the drama was very exciting the majority of the time. I found Jin Eon annoying in many instances (Hae Gang as well - apart from when she lost her memory - but less so than Jin Eon). I liked Baek Seok's character a lot more than Jin Eon. Seol Ri was also quite insufferable and I wish they had done more with her character.

This was such an intense series. Initially it started off a bit slow and absolutely confusing. It is one of those shows that has the middle or ending at the beginning which completely throws you off. Episodes one through four are a bit slow because it covers the backstory and how everything got to that point. This series revolves around a family who lives life was somewhat routed due to a tragic event. The aftermath of that event is how the series starts. It begins with the emotional State of the two individuals that was most affected by it and how they deal with it. The story progresses from there. There is a certain level of mystery involved in this but not too much. There is action and romance. The two main leads have amazing chemistry however the back-and-forth and on and off was a bit tiring. Overall I loved the acting and the wardrobe of the cast. I am absolutely thrilled that the writers casted such an amazing and strong female lead for this series. She is not only beautiful and a great performer but also her character is smart, educated and a fighter. So I give it two thumbs up simply because they gave us a female lead who had common sense and some class. If you are into rich families and romance and plotting and revenge you will really enjoy this. If you’re looking for smooth smooth and comical romance, this is not it. What I enjoy most about the series words they found a way to make the amnesia plot less cliché and really give it a believable and realistic plot. I highly recommend this

=> A great drama, very addictive, and an exceptional performance from 2 great actors.

Series which tells on the relationship of a couple who love each other (against all odds) but must overcome the many trials of life: bereavement, lack of communication, infidelity, lack of trust, family relationships, work problems, etc. .

1st part: difficult situation in the couple (mourning of the child that the two do not experience in the same way). The relationship is therefore deteriorated (coldness, lack of communication, isolation in one's own suffering, etc.) and a young seductress (super selfish) takes advantage of the flaw.
This part is very frustrating. The ML is behaving like a dark idiot. The FL2, in love, is self-centered, born before shame. How can the ML (35-40 year old teacher) allow himself to be seduced by a childish 1st year student, by her childish pouts, by her whims, her obvious tricks?
+ the actors are very good because I haven't lost my temper since the 1st episode...

2nd story arc (10-11 => 28): time during which Hae Gang lives as Gong Ki and changes (becomes Ong Yi). The ML is almost sure he has found his wife, supposedly dead. FL2, anxious, becomes even more unbearable.
However, the 2 leads show incredible chemistry and we witness some very cute moments.

3rd arc (28-29 -> 50) Return of Gong Yi and Hae Gang gradually regains her memory and becomes cold again. She then begins her plan to defeat the villains, particularly the brother-in-law.

PROS:
+++ excellent actors: they take us through all the emotions in this show. The 2 leads, in particular, give an exceptional performance ♡ඩ⌔ඩ♡
+++ The production is quite dynamic, even if the pace slows down in the 2nd arc. The tone is quite dark, we are often in suffering. Fortunately, a few characters are there to make us smile.
+++ the OSTs are pleasant and stick in your head (especially the songs sung by Ryu, now on my playlist)

What i liked less :
### the story is at times a little too "dramaland" and "melodrama". We feel that the screenwriters wanted to bring out the tissues.
### Gong Yi's appearance is exaggerated!! I understand that it was necessary to differentiate between the 2 characters played by the same actress, but that's too much!
### I would have liked (like many other viewers) more time devoted to the Gong Yi-Dr Autistic-Woo Woo relationship, too funny and very cute.

I rarely watch a series again (except masterpieces) but I might watch certain scenes again (OTP).

*******************************************************************************

Nothing

Wow just wow. Mc is so annoying. First he divorces his wife badly then pursues her like a stalker. I mean he's worst character. First he cheats, then he totally disrespects wife, then divorce, enjoys new girl for 4 years then back again to get his ex wife back. I really think Guys in Kdramas got no pride. I have never seen any drama that is as bad as this one. Stretching a boring story to 50 episodes is too much for me to bear. I hope the screen writer can retire after this drama.

A must watch drama

A complete drama. A must see piece.
Why do I recommend this Kdrama? because it gives you hope that you may find love from those people that you have hurt in the past.
Superb acting, beautiful faces, best casting, amazing screenplay, brilliant script and direction. There is not even a single scene which you need to edit.
Kim Hyun Jo is a beautiful, elegant actress- a complete picture of a lady with passion and arrogance. She played her double role with ease and full understanding between the two characters. She carried the costumes, makeup and attire exceptionally well. Both Jo Jin Jo and Kim Hyun looked so beautiful with each other and their chemistry was undoubtedly amazing. Their love and hate relationship, the ups and downs of their lives, can easily be felt through their eyes. Both at the same time, can be mean to each other and can fight for each other's dignity too.
The writer-director duo has made each & every character as a unique personality.
This drama is a masterpiece and should be kept in library for coming generations to watch.

A perfect love story

This is a love drama with many twists and turns, when in each episode, we discover another small piece of the past of the characters. Each episode is more fascinating than the previous one, and you can't stop watching it. Applause to the writer of the drama, the director and all the actors, especially the main actors who demonstrated a very high level of acting.
Quite simply, I fell in love with the main characters, Ji Jin Hee and Kim Hyun Joo!!!
